About the property

Limonaia is a charming independent little house for two

Limonaia

Limonaia is a charming independent 55m2 little house for two located on the beautifully restored Podere Banditella property. It is located close to Belvedere, which is an an apartment located in a main house. Limonaia can be rented together with Belvedere or separately depending on availability.

Limonaia offers comfortable accommodation for two. It includes an air conditioned/heating bedroom with a queen size bed, a bath with shower and a beautiful great room/kitchen with a wood burning pizza oven. It has access to two private terraces and a beautiful 4X12m pool available for the guests in Banditella. The interiors are tastefully furnished and equipped. The kitchen is ready for those who enjoy cooking their own meals or like to bake or cook in a real wood burning oven.

WiFi, Sat TV, coffee/tea, olive oil, condiments and more are complimentary. The laundry is available for the guests. All services, including weekly cleaning and change of linen are included in the price. The air conditioning/heating is paid according to consumption. There is no hidden cost anywhere.

Podere Banditella is a beautifully restored property in Tuscany, which consists of three houses situated on a panoramic hill at the famous Strada di Vino Nobile between lively towns of Montepulciano and Cortona. The rental units are an independent house called Limonaia and an independent apartment in the main house called Belvedere.

A typical Tuscan cypress lined via bianca connects the main road with a property that is surrounded by vineyards, including those belonging to the highly acclaimed Avignonesi and Antinori wineries. The town of Montalcino, world famous for its Brunello wine is also nearby. Our guests will enjoy the local foods and wines, as well as, the proximity of a myriad of historically important small and large, etruscan, medieval and renaissance towns. Among them are Cortona, Montepulciano, Arezzo, Siena, Perugia, Pienza, Montalcino, Castiglion del Lago and more.

The surrounding roads are frequently used by the sport and tourist bikers, so if you like biking bring your bike or have it rented , many people do.

We are in a prominent wine and olive oil production area, so consider that from time to time, depending on the season, you will hear some noises from the fields around.

At this time there are no specific house rules other than mutual respect, respect for the nature and keeping the premises clean; you will notice that we keep the houses and premises impeccably clean. We also ask all the guests not to smoke inside the premises.

The guests with limited mobility or on wheelchair can move freely around at the ground floor levels of Belvedere and Limonaia. In case of emergencies there is a modern hospital with all emergency services in a proximity of approx. 10 km.

Both a cat and dog reside on the property. They are friendly and most of the time stay in the owner residence area. We ask the guests not to bring their pets to the property.

Minimum stay is three nights.

About Ludwik & Margrethe Krochmal

Podere La Banditella is discreetly owner occupied at all times, who live in an apartment with a private entrance and is at your disposal to give support or some useful advice about how to spend a nice holiday. The owners make themselves available upon request to give support or advice on places to visit, to dine, various local events and other local attractions. Wine tours and cooking classes can be arranged by us or directly by the guests at for example or . They are a couple of retired architects with no desire to travel anymore, as we did a lot when we were professionally active doing projects all over the world. Now they rather focus on slow food, enjoying wines and art. Banditella’s interiors are tastefully furnished and equipped as they reflect our love for aesthetics and respect for tradition and culture, italian and elsewhere.

Why Ludwik & Margrethe Krochmal chose Siena Province

What makes Podere Banditella particularly special is its fantastic location in Italy. From here you can reach some more distant important Italian destinations, not just in Tuscany and Umbria, but even within a day, cities like Rome, Florence, Pisa, Bologna and more; or the coasts of the Tyrrhenian and Adriatic sea. There are three train stations within about 15 minutes by car. From there you can go anywhere you want in Italy. The nearest airport is in Perugia. Rome and Florence airports are some two hours away. There are Taxi services available, but we advise that you rent a car.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

One special place

  • 5 of 5

What a gem! Our stay could not have been better, from the scenery to the hosts, this is the place to stay. Our first night there was made special by our hosts catering to our thirst and stomachs, thank you so much! Next we rented a car and drove to Pisa and then through the backroads to San Giminano! The following day we visited several towns nearby suggested by our hosts, Cortona and Multepuciano and had a ball! The cottage has two patios, one very private and even its own kitchen garden! Dinner in Cortona is a must! The cottage is near a train station so it was easy to grab the train to Florence, thanks for the lift to the station Ludwik. It was hard to leave, we could have stayed forever and when we return to Italy, this is the only place we will go. Tuscany and the home of Lukwik and Margrethe made our trip so special, thank you so much for your hospitality, your warmth and guidance. On a scale of 1 to 10, you get all 10 stars! Give Gina a hug from us!
