A perfect get away for families and friends who want to enjoy being outdoors. Our cabin is located on 6 acres of land at the end of a long gravel road. 4-wheel drive is recommended, especially during the winter months. The house is a beautiful and rustic cabin unlike any other since it was custom built by the original owner, who was both a stone mason and carpenter. We have 2 neighbors on our road, so lots of privacy. We love that our cabin is not fancy, it just feels like home. We have a barn that can serves as studio space (please request set up), an outdoor picnic area with a brick fire place where we enjoy most of our dinners. The kitchen is well equipped and there is plenty of room for folks to hang out. We have 3 bedrooms, a loft (kids love it), and a sleeping porch to be used in warmer weather. Our home can sleep up to 8 people comfortably. Boone and Valle Crusis are both approximately 8 miles away. We are 30 minutes from most high country ski resorts and there is plenty of hiking right outside our door. Sugar Grove is our neighboring community, where a summer bluegrass festival is held. There is plenty to do in the Blue Ridge mountains and our home is the perfect place to come home to, to relax with friends and family. Pets are welcome. The driveway to our cabin is steep, 4 wheel drive recommended.
The layout of the house:
411 Indigo is nestled on the top of a hill surrounded by trees, overlooking a beautiful valley. There are 3 floors including the basement where one bedroom is located. On the second floor their is a bedroom, large kitchen with dining nook, dining room, and sunroom. On the top floor is a large living space where you can enjoy a movie, sit in a window seat curled up with a book, sit by a wood stove or enjoy the view from the front window overlooking the valley below. There are lots of windows on all sides. Above this room is a small loft with a double bed. Access to this loft is by ladder which is permanently attached. There is no air-conditioner, and we have not needed one.
We have oil heat which works great and a wood stove on the main floor. The kitchen is nestled in the middle of the home and for some reason the original owner/builder did not put vents for heat. We have two electric heaters that work fine and keep the kitchen warm. During the winter months and possible snow, 4 wheel drive is highly recommended.
