About Christopher Prete
I've lived in Sonoma for nearly 20 years, was a long time resident in San Francisco. Before that, I grew up in Queens and Long Island, NY and also spent a few years in upstate NY. I moved to California on a motorcycle when I was 24 years old.
Christopher Prete purchased this House in 2005
Why Christopher Prete chose Sonoma
I'm only the third owner of this home. It was built by the Sebastiani wine family as factory housing in 1920. The second owner, another local Italian American offered to sell it to me when he had to divest some of his property.
What makes this House unique
There is no better Sonoma Plaza location as far as I'm concerned. Park your car and walk for a morning cappuccino, for exercise on the Overlook and Montini hiking trails one block away, or out for evening dinner. You'll be completely relaxed.

We had a fabulous stay here in Sonoma. The cottage was superb!
The location couldn’t have been better. Just off the square so easy walking to restaurants, galleries and stores. Also very close to tons of hiking trails and the farmers market.
The cottage itself was immaculately clean, very well stocked and so, so comfortable. Lots of space, large walk in closet, super comfortable bed and top notch linens.
We also loved the private back yard and ate out there frequently.
Chris is a great host and was on hand if we needed anything.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to planning another next year.
It was a pleasure to have Sue and Rich as guests for 2 months and I would welcome them back. Nice people, low impact, can't ask for more as landlord.
We had a lovely stay at Villetta Sonoma. It is just steps from the Plaza, with restaurants and cafes, shops and wine tasting, galleries and the movie theater just down the street. The nearby bike path was convenient for longer walks to the outskirts of town. Sonoma is a very charming town with so much to see and do, and often hosts special events. The cottage was very well maintained and had everything we needed for a pleasant stay. Can't wait to return!
GREAT - EXCEPT FOR THAT WILDFIRE THING
Greatly enjoyed the first 3 weeks of my stay at Chris's lovely cottage. Chris was very dedicated to making the time spent in his place as enjoyable as it was. He even provided an outdoor gas grill after I mentioned it would be nice to have one as I enjoy grilling out. Location is perfect, right off the Plaza and close to all the activities around the center. Also easy access to some of the best wineries in Sonoma, Glen Ellen and Napa. However, the last week was very difficult as the wildfires began the Monday of the last week of my stay. Chris again was very helpful and understanding as I moved in and out and finally left during that week. Thankfully the danger is past now and I hope Sonoma returns to normal as soon as possible.
Thanks for visiting Maureen. Yes that last week wasn't good for anyone. Things are getting back to normal and standing in the town, you wouldn't know anything had happened. A different story clearly for others. In fact I rented the house for 3 months to a couple that lost everything until they can get their bearings. I did find out that the last time something like this happened in wine country was 1964, so hopefully that's it for a lifetime or more.
Clean, neat, very close to the square. Easy walking.
Chris has a lovely home, furnished with everything you need. Can't wait to stay there again!
JIm and Barbara, Month of June.
I was pleased to have Jim and Barbara as guests. The house was actually returned in slightly better condition than it was rented, as Jim fixed a couple of minor appliance glitches on his own. I'd welcome them back any time.
Fantastic Sonoma location, excellent renovated historic bungalow with private yard.
We thoroughly enjoyed our (second) stay at Christopher's house. It is the best location in town, only a few houses from all the Plaza has to offer, yet quiet and private. The Plaza has many fine shops, restaurants and wine tasting to keep you busy in town, yet you are only minutes away from some of the best wineries in Sonoma and Napa. There are great hiking and biking trails in Sonoma which start nearby.
The house was newly renovated and has all the conveniences you will need. We enjoyed sitting on the porch or patio with a fire pit in the evening sipping wine and relaxing. There is onsite parking for guest which is really appreciated attending the many events in town. We were there for the fantastic Music Festival which which was held only a short walk down the street.
Christopher is an excellent host and was quick to respond to every inquiry or request.
We would highly recommend this place and know you will enjoy it as much as we did.
Beautiful cottage in Sonoma--ideal place to stay
My girlfriend and I spent a summer at Chris's cottage. It was perfect for our needs: clean, well-appointed, and conveniently located. We couldn't have asked for a more enjoyable stay, and Chris couldn't have been more attentive. Great experience, would happy return or recommend it to anyone.
This home is situated just steps from the historic Sonoma Plaza, 8 acres of lawn and trees surrounded by restaurants, wine tasting and shops. You will be located in the heart of the City of Sonoma and Sonoma Valley. Dozens of world class wineries are within either walking distance or a short driving distance.
