Aloha! Kiahuna Unit #1 offers the ideal beachfront location. No one above you; no one below you. Just surf sounds, ocean breezes and sandy beaches, sunning, sipping cocktails on your lanai while watching whales, waves and sunsets. This end unit has a remarkable location in the most private corner of the resort and is ideally situated to provide a peaceful sleep and take maximum advantage of the ocean breezes. The spacious bedroom has vaulted ceilings, a very comfortable King-sized bed and ample closet space. The living room has high, vaulted ceilings for an airy, spacious feel and a Bose Soundtouch music system to wirelessly stream music from your smartphone, tablet or laptop. You can also select one of the CD's containing steel guitars and other authentic Hawaiian music to get you in the aloha spirit. All the amenities of home with a fully equipped kitchen for beachfront dining on your private lanai or the indoor dining table. An automatic ice-maker creates an endless stream of fresh ice cubes. A front-loading laundry set is located in-unit for your convenience and there is a large Smart TV, Blu-ray DVD player and wireless Internet in the living room media cabinet. Two stainless steel BBQ's with infra-red element, are less than 100 steps away and maintained daily. Flame broil a Hawaiian grass fed steak from one of the local farmers markets or some locally caught seafood to enjoy while you watch the sunset on your lanai. There are numerous excellent restaurants and bars within easy walking distance but somehow the lanai is the most popular option. An oceanfront boardwalk begins just east of your lanai and offers an easy stroll in front of Koa Kea and Marriot's Waiohai Beach Club resorts to the nearby Poipu Beach State Park.
The Beach Activity Hut is conveniently located on the central lawn and offers complimentary beach chairs and towels to our guests. Swim as often as you like and always have a clean towel and chair to dry off in. The activity hut is the perfect place to learn about the many local tours and adventures and book one or two of your own (assuming you have any desire to leave your lanai). The Beach Hut also rents snorkel gear so you can swim with the large variety of colorful fish in their natural environment just steps from your door. The lanai is an excellent place to kick back and keep tabs on the more adventurous members of your party who are snorkeling, surfing or body-boarding. Two world-class surf breaks are right in front of your lanai. Take a surf lesson 50 yards away or kick back and watch more experienced surfers tear it up. This particular spot, in the corner of the resort, offers a rare blend of privacy and natural tranquility while simultaneously placing you right in the thick of the most popular beaches on the South Shore of Kauai. As members of the Poipu Beach Athletic Club, our guests have complimentary membership for the duration of their stay. Access the newly upgraded facilities including an outdoor pool with slide and sandy beach surrounded by tropical vegetation and lounge chairs , four new USTA tennis courts and an automatic ball serving machine, two shuffle board courts, two basketball half courts with adjustable rim height for all ages, three pickle ball courts, modern weight and fitness equipment as well as a large, grassy recreation area perfect for a quick game of bocci ball, croquet or Frisbee. Our family purchased Kiahuna Unit #1 in 1974 in the desirable Phase 1 of the Resort. At the time there were a number of beach front units available, but none had this premier location, so close to the water and yet so private and surrounded by greenery. It's single-story construction and vaulted ceilings create a spacious, airy feel to enjoy your vacation to the fullest. Fall asleep each night to the rhythmic and relaxing white noise of ocean surf in natural stereo. We think you'll agree, there is no better place to be.
You will not be trapped in a hotel box or surrounded by condo balconies peering down on you while staying at Kiahuna 1. Our daily rate includes everything except for the $120 check-out cleaning and the Hawaiian Accommodations/sales taxes unless you book Kiahuna 1 through the VRBO/HA websites as they have recently added a booking fee which will show up on your detailed price quote. Five day rentals include mid-stay towel and trash service while seven day rentals include one mid-week maid service with fresh linens and light house cleaning (in addition to towel/trash services). With the full kitchen, in unit laundry, free parking, regular maid service, endless clean beach towels, a very comfortable King sized bed surrounded by pleasant sounds and breezes, and a private lanai with side yard surrounded by tropical vegetation all right in front of one of the most desirable beaches in the world, this unit provides a lot of value. The Poipu Beach Athletic Club facilities and equipment are included at no extra charge to our guests, however, fitness classes, poolside food and drink, long-distance calls, and beach equipment rentals are available from third parties for an additional cost. Kiahuna 1 is situated on one of the most aesthetically pleasing sections of one of the nicest and most versatile beaches in Hawaii. It's unusual to find a place to stay this close to such an amazing beach. There is a shallow shoal directly in front of the lanai that causes more beach sand to deposit in front of Kiahuna 1. The waves wash over the shoal creating a very relaxing 'white noise' that will lull you to sleep. 'Kiahuna' is Hawaiian for 'special place' and Kiahuna 1 has the location to insure your vacation will be as special as possible.
You can't beat the location, even if, due to mother nature, part of the lawn and all of the fence in front of the unit collapsed due to high surf and tide. Resort staff set up temporary fences for safety. This also closed the beach access from the Kiahuna Plantation. We enjoyed the view morning and night and you can see surfing and stand-up paddle boarders all day long. We swam and snorkeled every day, cooked most of our meals in the well equipped
kitchen. We will be back.
We enjoyed our stay at Kiahuna Plantation Unit 1 immensely. There were some truly amazing things about this property that makes it stand out. The fact that the owners clearly cherish their property is evident, it is showing some wear but, nothing that will affect your enjoyment of the property. The Plantation grounds were immaculate, very nicely groomed and a secure presence noticed. The oceanfront access was not the most convenient but kept it private in front of the lanai. The view, lets talk about that! Gorgeous! We enjoyed so much kicking back on the lanai morning, noon and night! There was just the right amount of housekeeping for us and was done in a ninja type way, we never saw them. We really appreciated the amenities the ,washer and dryer and the kitchen was very well stocked. They extras in the closet came in handy a few times, beach chairs, boogie boards, water noodles, cooler. We used the Pool club several times and had really wished something that nice was on the actual property. The ocean the week we were there was not in such a welcome mode, we experience rough waters in front of the actual resort, eliminating the use of it for just splashing around or any snorkeling where you weren't crashed into the rocks. We traveled to almost all the beaches known for being calm and the entire island was experiencing unusual surf. That was a bummer for us. But, we found plenty of other things to. Here are the drawbacks, the unit next door was being remodeled and at times construction noise was disruptive. The upside to that is nobody was staying there so the area seemed more private without "neighbors" chances are nobody else will be bothered by that. Here's the big one for us, the unit has no air conditioning. During the day with everything open and going in and out of the water it was tolerable. But at night it was often completely miserable. It may have been tolerable had we not been told several times by security that we could not leave the sliding doors open at night even with the shutters closed and locked. It never even dawned on me that a place known for warm temps to NOT, have air. I'm not sure how that can be remedied but on that alone, even though we absolutely loved our time there I would not return to this unit. No air is a deal breaker. :(

My husband and I booked this unit for our 9th wedding anniversary which was our first trip to Kauai. We stayed for 9 nights. It was amazing! This unit is fantastic and has all the comforts of home! Coffee out on the lanai each morning watching the ocean was so amazing. We had a BEAUTIFUL bouquet of tropical flowers delivered from Mike and Kristen the day we arrived!
This unit is literally steps from one of the best beaches we have ever visited. I snorkeled for the very first time right there off the beach. GREAT beach for beginning snorkeling!!! We also saw several green sea turtles.
The Poipu Shopping Village and the Kukui'ula Village Shopping Center (my personal favorite) are within walking distance as are some great restaurants.
The grounds of Kiahuna are BEAUTIFUL!! We enjoyed walking around the property. This unit, in particular, is amazing! Totally private with a great little beautifully manicured side yard.
Mike and Kristin recommended a local grocery store (Big Save) that also was fantastic for stocking up on supplies while we were there.
Overall experience was A+

Location is perfect! Steps to the beach which is by far the best beach I have ever stepped on. All the amenities you will ever need for a great visit. From the extra boogie boards to ample kitchen utensils, this place has it all. The new sofa sleeper was great for my two daughters to sleep on and the sunsets were breathtaking every night! Loved having the w/d in the unit as well. The owners even sent flowers for my daughter and wife as we were celebrating my daughters graduation from high school and my wife's 50 bday! Very class act from some very classy owners! We will definitely be back!
I have been a visitor to the Poipu Beach area for over 50 years and this condo is located in a prime spot. Kiahuna is a wonderful property to begin with as the beach has gentle waves so families can enjoy all the water activities in a safe environment. This unit is special as it sits at the end of the development so is private and just steps from the beach. The condo is well equipped and the owners very attentive to all your needs. We loved it so much we booked our next stay before we even left the property.
We dined in most nights as the views of the sunset were spectacular. The local fish market in the nearby shopping center provided great fish and the gas grills located on the property cooked them up perfectly. Kitchen is well equipped and the condo has wonderful ventilation which allows the breezes to pass through. Really a great spot overall.
Poipu is the most desirable vacation district on the Island of Kauai and Kiahuna 1 is centrally located within walking distance of shopping and the most popular restaurants, bars and beaches.
