About the property

Beautiful 1925 Mediterranean Revival, 2,100-square-foot, two-story home wit

This beautiful 1925 Mediterranean Revival, 2,100-square-foot, two-story home with 4 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms is nestled on a lot which is among the largest and most private in the El Cid Historic District. Just one block from the Intracoastal Waterway and its spectacular walking, running and riding trail, the property is shaded by beautiful, mature trees that envelope a heated swimming pool, hot tub, kayaks, picnic table and shaded social area. A working fountain celebrates the historic nature of this home.

Within one mile are City Place, the rejuvenated city center with its shopping, restaurants, movie theaters, sidewalk cafes, nightclubs and boutiques; The Norton Museum of Art; Clematis Street's shopping, nightlife and live theatres; the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts; and the Palm Beach County Convention Center. The public beach on Palm Beach Island; the famous Breakers Hotel and Worth Avenue; lectures, films, exhibits, and lessons at The Society of the Four Arts; and a spectacular island trail to explore are less than two miles away.

El Cid’s location on the west shore of Lake Worth, near downtown, combined with its concentration of outstanding period architecture, attracts professionals and business owners who are proud to call the historic district “home.” The El Cid Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Inside, 10’ ceilings, arched doorways and original tile and hardwood floors welcome family and friends. The Sun Room / Office and Living Room ceilings are planked in pecky cypress, highlighted by original crown molding. Arched windows fill three walls of the home’s south-facing Sun Room. The Living Room’s wood-burning fireplace and its ornamental stone hearth elegantly warm occasional cool evenings. The Living Room opens through a large arched doorway into a formal Dining Room with hardwood floors, casement windows and distinctive crown molding. The bright kitchen is of generous proportion, with large windows and French doors leading to the spacious back yard.

The staircase wraps through a wide arched opening with original wrought iron railing. Guests pause and enjoy a delightful crescent-shaped window seat appointed by a large stained glass window to the outside. Directly ahead at the top of the stairs is the Master Bedroom with a private bath, King bed, and walk-in closet. All four bedrooms are spacious and bright, classically detailed with chair rails and crown moldings, panel doors and richly grained pinewood floors. A “Jack and Jill” bathroom between two bedrooms creates an efficient circular floor plan. The Master Bedroom has a King bed; another bedroom features bunk beds; and the third a double bed. The fourth bedroom has room for an inflatable mattress, currently without a bed. Each of the bedrooms includes enough floor space for an inflatable mattress or crib. The Living Room sofa includes a fold-out double bed.

Amenities include a swimming pool and hot tub; kayaks; central air and heat; central alarm system; pond and fountain; fully equipped kitchen with coffee maker, microwave, blender, toaster, and cookware; bed linens/bath towels; washer/dryer; hair dryer; iron/board; very private backyard; outdoor grill.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The house two doors down is a VRBO property, too! Families or groups wanting to be together -- and have space and privacy, too -- should definitely check out this option!

Pool, Intracoastal, and History!

  • 5 of 5

My family misses this beautiful pool and backyard oasis. We enjoyed walking the two short blocks to the intracoastal in the morning and at night, strolling past the lovely historic homes of the El Cid district. The location is also convenient to any amenities you might need to pick up to stock the house for your visit. The house itself is gorgeous in its architecture yet also serviceable for your stay with big bedrooms, a cozy living room, a great kitchen, and a washer and dryer. Alison is also very responsive during your stay. You don't need to hesitate a moment to book this house!

PERFECT LOCATION

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 8 adults (ages 24-74) recently stayed in this historic home for long Mother's Day weekend. The home is lovely, quaint, comfortable and well appointed with everything we could desire for our stay. The beds were comfortable with nice bedding. The kitchen well equipped with everything we needed for preparing family meals. Also, there are menus and suggestions for things to do in the area. The backyard was absolutely wonderful for evening happy hour, dining and playing family board games. It is so perfectly located. A short walk to the intercoastal waterway and over the bridge to Palm Beach. On the walk back we enjoyed meandering through the historic El Cid neighborhood and looking at the other beautiful, historic homes. There is a Publix very near for shopping as well. Highly recommend the Henry Flagler Museum. I would recommend this home to anyone looking for a beautiful place to stay in West Palm Beach !

Very beautiful, clean historic home

  • 5 of 5

The owner was extremely accommodating and was more than helpful while our golf team (high school kids) was in her home. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. Allison Pruitt cleared her refrigerator so that we could use it during our stay.

Having access to the pool and hot tub made our stay feel more like we were visiting a family member's home than a hotel stay.

I would highly recommend this home to anyone traveling to West Palm Beach and I would definitely stay there again if I were to revisit the area.

Great old place

  • 4 of 5

This is a spacious and comfortable historic home. Owner very nice. Great to be in a well loved family home. We haven't stayed in other VRBO properties but this could be a little spruced up. Mattresses were a bit soft. Pool heater did not work but we did enjoy the jacuzzi. Fun diner nearby. Very close to the highway.

Very nice, large backyard with several large beautiful trees. We enjoyed our stay there.

Property has a large and beautiful back yard, perfect for children and/or entertaining. The house is charming and workable, and the owner could not possibly be nicer or more helpful. Highly recommended. Nancy

Great family home with extraordinary grounds!

  • 5 of 5

Our family if 6 plus grandma stayed in this lovely property in April. The house itself is quite comfortable and well-appointed but the grounds are what make it truly special! The yard is HUGE - perfect for active kids who enjoyed playing both in and out of the pool and hot tub. It's also so close to everything - you can walk to great restaurants, movie theater, art museum and, of course, the gorgeous trail along the Intracoastal waterway! I definitely recommend this property for all, but especially for active folks who enjoy being outside!
