2nd floor apartment with private entrance on the grounds of a 2 acre manor house. Full bed in first bedroom. Second bedroom has queen bed and small balcony with french doors. Bathroom has shower with seating bench. Kitchenette with full size refrigerator, microwave, sink, stove and table with seating for four. Access to shared laundry on-site is available. Living room with daybed and chairs. Apartment bedrooms are carpeted and it has its own thermostat for maximum comfort. Beautiful views from all windows. Very light and airy.
We enjoy older homes with property and this one has 2.5 acres of woods and gardens. Tree peonies, witch hazel, asters, PG hydrangeas, oak leaf hydrangeas, roses, hosta, hellebores and a variety of bulbs provide all season interest in this woodland paradise. Two acre properties are rare in established older neighborhoods and this property is a treasure. We are computer geeks who love nature.
Kathryn purchased this apartment in 2014
The apartment is located in a gracious home built to high standards common in the early part of the 20th century. Rooms are large with interesting architectural features and window calming views. This home has seen many large parties taking advantage of patios front and back with views that cascade down the sloping lawn. The property has a large pool which we are working to restore to its former glory, in an environmentally conscious way.
The apartment is charming and travellers will appreciate its convenient location to area venues like York College, Penn State York, York Hospital and area rehabilitation centers. Very close to the York Ice Arena, host to ice hockey tournaments and summer athletic camps. Interstate 83 is deceivingly convenient and route 30 is a five minute drive making access to Harrisburg/Hershey/Gettysburg and Lancaster equally convenient.
We enjoyed the area so much. The apartment was very comfortable with plenty of room and all necessary conveniences. Hosts were easy to work with. Would definitely stay again.
Pomper family is very friendly, welcoming and made us feel at home. They have a beautiful stone house in a quiet neighborhood, surrounded by flowers, trees, and birds. We were greeted by Clara, who gave us a tour around the house and offered many great suggestions for farmer's market and boutique shops in town. She is very responsive whenever we need help. Thanks again!
Mr. and Mrs. Pomper were the sweetest couple! The property is absolutely large and beautiful. The apt was so cozy and spacious w/ a lot of storage area. The beds were very comfortable and each room had its own characteristic. all rooms were bright and lively. The rent was very reasonable. My Boyfriend and I stayed there for 3 1/2 months and had weekend guests over multiple times and Gale even let us use one of the master bedrooms in their house to make our guests accommodating. We had to study for a Boards exam for Optometry school and they kept the house very quiet. they have a washer and dryer downstairs for guests to do free laundry at anytime. the apt has a bathroom and kitchen fully supplied with towels, pots, pans, mugs, cups, bowls, plates, and all utensils necessary. If any item gives trouble they gladly fix it instantly. The apt also has a den w/ a spare bed and flat screen TV w/ free channels. There is plenty of parking and the neighborhood is gorgeous. They also gave us eggs and some treats that they would bake. I will absolutely miss them very much and wish them the best of luck.
Stayed for six weeks for a local internship. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Home and grounds are stunning; a work in progress but cozy and comfortable. Felt right at home during my stay. Owners were very accommodating/hospitable.
Mt granddaughter called it the castle. The Pomper's are wonderful folks. They took care of whatever was needed. It's an older home that is being refurbished but we enjoyed our stay. Thank you and we look forward to staying again.
