We enjoy older homes with property and this one has 2.5 acres of woods and gardens. Tree peonies, witch hazel, asters, PG hydrangeas, oak leaf hydrangeas, roses, hosta, hellebores and a variety of bulbs provide all season interest in this woodland paradise. Two acre properties are rare in established older neighborhoods and this property is a treasure. We are computer geeks who love nature.
Kathryn purchased this Apartment in 2014
Why Kathryn chose Grantley
The apartment is located in a gracious home built to high standards common in the early part of the 20th century. Rooms are large with interesting architectural features and window calming views. This home has seen many large parties taking advantage of patios front and back with views that cascade down the sloping lawn. The property has a large pool which we are working to restore to its former glory, in an environmentally conscious way.
What makes this Apartment unique
The apartment is charming and travellers will appreciate its convenient location to area venues like York College, Penn State York, York Hospital and area rehabilitation centers. Very close to the York Ice Arena, host to ice hockey tournaments and summer athletic camps. Interstate 83 is deceivingly convenient and route 30 is a five minute drive making access to Harrisburg/Hershey/Gettysburg and Lancaster equally convenient.

A perfectly peaceful place
We loved our stay here. We had all we needed. It was warm and welcoming. I love older homes and the quaintness of old details. It was stately and interesting. Hope we have reason to come back because we certainly would stay here again!
Has great potential
We found this house quite musty and dusty upon our arrival. We advised the hostess that we would be arriving after dark but, despite the fact that she was only five minutes away, no lights were left on the inside or outside of the house when we arrived, we
had to find the keys on our own in a dark garage, and we had to locate the back door in pitch black through the use of the flashlight on our i-Phone.
Once inside, the temp was hot at 78 degrees, there was only half a roll of toilet tissue in the bathroom, several lights were burned out (making one bedroom completely dark and the small bath very dim), no towels were laid out, there was no dish soap, and no ice. If we had not been texting with the hostess that day, we might have wondered if we had arrived on the wrong day.
Later, when trying to shower, there was no hot water. We called the hostess who advised us that the water had to run for five minutes to get hot. In a text from her, we found out that we should not close a bedroom door or we’d be locked in.
Despite the inauspicious beginning, there were many great things about our stay. Fortunately, the owner allowed us to use an upstairs bed and bath that had not originally been part of the rental agreement. This made our time here much better as that bath had hot water and the bedroom was very comfortable. The neighborhood was beautiful, and the location is great as it takes about an hour to get to Gettysburg, Hershey, or the Amish country. The size of the apartment could accommodate up to 4-5 guests if the extra bedroom and bath are available. All the beds were very comfortable.
This apartment is not fancy but with a few touches could have been made very comfortable and much more hospitable.
Great location and great neighborhood to run in.
Beautiful property and neighborhood!
Great central location for all things tourist. Loved the peace and quiet.
quaint property, fine for our short stay, very quiet, enjoyed the wildlife, owners very helpful- shower was little small for us but we are both 6 feet plus- the only drawback might be in summer- no air conditioning that i could see but lots of windows for ventilation- beds were comfortable and kitchen was just right size for us- thanks for a different kind of location!
I did not get to meet or speak with Gail, but Katherine and her son Brody were very nice. The apartment was nice and private. I have no complaints and recommend staying here. Thanks for everything!
