So fabulous, my first impression was "oh no" what a drive. Then it was "oh my" fabulous.

Dave and I had a great time at the Hideaway, the shower was fabulous and the pond was excellent. We loved the quietness, and the privacy and ease to get to Hilo and elsewhere. Everything was lovely. Thank you for the wonderful vacation.

Owner's Response: Staying in the country has many benefits, such as the privacy, peacefulness and a great ocean view, which we are very happy that you got to enjoy and experience. Staying at a resort is just too busy and doesn't give you the real feel of living in Hawaii along with no privacy to stroll around the property undisturbed. We're glad you enjoyed the pond as well, we noticed how there are more baby fish in the pond now. The shower is kind of fun with giving you the feeling of being outside but yet covered with the bamboo for privacy. Mahalo for staying at the Sweethearts Hideaway and we do hope you get to come back again some time. Aloha and Mahalo

Perfect secluded getaway!

We loved the peaceful seclusion that the cabin provided! We were also very appreciative of all the amenities that were provided, from coffee to laundry detergent! Will definitely recommend to friends for future visits.

Nice hideaway for getting away, but the rain dampened our spirits

  • 4 of 5

Very nice little cabin, and in the drier months it would be spectacular. Away from everything with only the sounds of nature (some of which were a little mysterious). We showed blatant disrespect for the calendar though and it rained on us the entire visit (it even snowed on the summit road keeping us from a visit to the top). The rain was only an issue when we needed to get out of the car to open the gate across the road to the cabin. Otherwise it was clean and dry, and Sandy was a very attentive host. The geckos were especially friendly!

Owner's Response: It's always seems crazy to be in shorts at the beach and looking up to Mauna Kea and seeing snow, very interesting to say the least. You are right about the weather, it has been a wet month. The evening sounds always reminds me of when we used to go camping and the orchestra of night life would start tuning up, very relaxing! Hope you get to come back and make it to the top next time. Aloha and Mahalo

What a wonderful remote place for rest and tranquility! Ideal for a retreat or just to get away from it all. Sandy was VERY accommodating and kind.

Panoramic View

  • 4 of 5

Our 23 day stay at this property was filled with beautiful panoramic views of the countryside & ocean; cottage is old Hawaiian style, somewhat rustic, but with everything you need to be comfortable. Enjoyed the "outdoor feel" of the shower and the beautiful lanai, not to forget the nightly symphony from songbirds, cows in nearby fields, bullfrog in the pond.

Awesome peaceful place

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed having the whole place to ourselves with no traffic noise. Great sunrises. Rained buckets and sheltered us well. Definitely passed the skivvy test! Many thumbs up!

Owner's Response: haha, I love that it passed the 'skivvy' test. That pretty much says it all as far as privacy goes. ;) We do hope you get to come back and explore the island again some time. Aloha and Mahalo
