About the property

A place to come to for wonderful ocean views and privacy.

The privately located Sweethearts Hideaway is situated on the Hamakua Coast surrounded by 20 acres of rolling hills and farmland. The expansive ocean view boasts gorgeous sunrises and brightly reflects the beauty of the full moon. The country driveway takes you past crops that are flourishing in the fields and cattle graze in the distant pasture lands. The view seems to be endless.

This studio has a full kitchen with a Bosch gas range and full size refrigerator to meet your culinary

desires. There’s also a gas grill on the covered lanai for cooking out while you soak in the amazing views

and fresh country air. Satellite TV can be viewed from the cozy loveseat or queen sized bed to relax at the end of a fun filled day.

The indoor shower gives you the feel of being outside, as the colorful foliage of the landscaped yard is visible through the windows.

The fully fenced yard with fish pond has an abundance of tropical trees and flowering plants.

The cottage is minutes from botanical gardens, waterfalls and zip lines, not to mention the beautiful coast line and hiking. Centrally located between Hilo and the Waipio Valley.

If you enjoy peaceful seclusion with amazing views, then this is the place for you. We look forward to

having you as our guests. Aloha and hope to see you soon.

Dave and I had a great time at the Hideaway, the shower was fabulous and the pond was excellent. We loved the quietness, and the privacy and ease to get to Hilo and elsewhere. Everything was lovely. Thank you for the wonderful vacation.

Owner's Response: Staying in the country has many benefits, such as the privacy, peacefulness and a great ocean view, which we are very happy that you got to enjoy and experience. Staying at a resort is just too busy and doesn't give you the real feel of living in Hawaii along with no privacy to stroll around the property undisturbed. We're glad you enjoyed the pond as well, we noticed how there are more baby fish in the pond now. The shower is kind of fun with giving you the feeling of being outside but yet covered with the bamboo for privacy. Mahalo for staying at the Sweethearts Hideaway and we do hope you get to come back again some time. Aloha and Mahalo

Beautiful view, plenty of privacy.

This is a lovely cabin well away from any noise and bustle. Great star gazing from the yard at night, great sunrises in the morning. Comfy bed and well appointed kitchen as well. The only issue we had with the place is the plumbing. Water pressure was very low (maybe due to a recent lack of rain for the catchement system?) And the hot water didn't always seem to work.

Owner's Response: Yes it is very peaceful and great for viewing the massive view of the ocean and sky. We will be replacing the water heater in a couple of days with a brand new one which will take care of the hot water problem. So sorry for the inconvenience. We're so glad that you enjoyed the rest of the features of the cottage. Aloha and Mahalo

Owner's Response: You certainly had a great location to see the most recent Supermoon that appeared during your stay. We couldn't get over how big it was and we're glad you were here to see and enjoy it. Mahalo for staying at The Gardenia House. Aloha

Perfect, Peaceful, Relaxing

If there was one word it would be WOW! What a view....Sandy was extremely helpful and very quick to reply from time of decision to rent, during our stay, and after our return home. It is perfect for two and loved the way the bathroom shower was arranged. It was perfect for us as we love to be away from it all and believe me you are. We arrived after dark and many people would have thought they were never going to get there but my husband is the adventurer and we made it just fine. We woke up to a beautiful view. Thank you Sandy and Bob for making it possible for us to stay in this rental. Hoping the new buyers will continue to rent for future stays.

A gorgeous gem of a property, tucked away in the up country of the Hamakua Coast, nice and private!

My husband and I stole away for the weekend from our local plumbing company, SMART Plumbing Hawaii, -for a wonderful respite. The property is a dream!

The cottage is cute and cozy. Yes you have to exit the cottage to enter the bathroom via the lanai, it reminded me of my childhood days growing up on the North Shore of Oahu! Total farm country feel, we loved it!

I love to cook, and the gas range was so exciting for me, it baked the perfect loaf of bread, in fact, everything I made while there, had the magic of the place in it. It was wonderful and most enchanting!

The bed was so comfortable!!!

We hiked down to where the waterfall is, but we arrived at the property after a huge flash flood, so we weren't able to make it down to the waterhole, it seemed like the path was washed out. The waterfall was gushing. I'd suggest just installing a knotted grab rope to hold on to for safely climbing up and down that area where there is nothing to hold on to on the way down.

There are bananas galore there, most were green still, but huge bunches, if you walk around you'll find purple sweet potatoes everywhere! We came it seems, right after harvest.

I didn't want to leave this place. I wanted to stay, I wanted to live there.

Sandy and Bob are extremely gracious hosts, happily answering our every question we dotted them with, they're so sweet. Mahalo nui loa! -LEI and Gabe

Owner's Response: A Stay-cation and Romantic Weekend Getaway, what a perfect scenario! You were adventurous getting to the waterfall. We are actually putting in a new trail which will have a railing to assist in the journey. The farmer also grows fresh Ginger but those purple sweet potatoes are sure yummy. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay so much that you didn't want to leave. We do hope you get to come back again. Aloha and Mahalo
