The Sinis marine area includes the Sinai Peninsula, the island of Mal di Ventre and, further south, the rock of Catalan. It is a beautiful natural oasis, particularly in the amount of rocks shaped by the sea, as S'Archittu, a spectacular rocky archway overlooking the crystal clear water. The whole area has a significant importance for its proximity to the rich inland wetlands. A diverse variety of environments follow one another going from south to north: the lagoon features of Su siccu, the rocky promontory of Capo San Marco - where to Torr'e Seu rise high cliffs interspersed with sandy beaches - the cliffs of Su Tingiosu that face the island of Mal di Ventre, inhabited by cormorants and doves. Erosion granite island of Mal di Ventre derive quartz crystals that are deposited on the beaches. The Marine Protected Area organizes guided dives, like the one in the sea area of shallows close to the Cathedrals, two granite spurs that rise from the seabed southwest of the island of Mal di Ventre, inhabited by lobsters, sea bream, groupers, moray eels, sea turtles. But you can also explore Carousel, the slab of granite that connects Mal di Ventre to the Catalan Cliff, with stretches of rock split and colored by coral. For those who enjoy exploring shipwrecks, it is possible to visit a Dutch cargo ship sunk long ago, possibly supported by diving instructors.
The Maimoni beach as the nearby beach of Arutas, has as singularities sand with clear pebbles of pink quartz and white, with the many nuances that embellish and making it unique. We have to remember, though, that it is absolutely forbidden to carry away the quartz grains. The origin of the name is related to the god of water, Maimone precisely, to whose cult is also linked the church of San Salvatore, built in the seventeenth century on the ruins of an underground. Near the beach it is also the village of San Salvatore, long used in the sixties and seventies as a movie set from the Cinecittà film crew for shooting westerns. The dell'arenile length and gradual water depth makes the Maimoni beach accessible by children and very suitable for every type of pastime: be wary sea often shaken by high waves that can turn into danger just for the little ones.
Mari Ermi offers tourists a long beach with a bright white quartz bottom, with stretches of very fine ocher sand. The beach is enclosed by high dunes and low vegetation and hugging the ground and stretches between the sea and the pond that bears his name. Its shape is similar to that of the best known of Arutas beach, but has a greater variety of colors, including clear sea and deep blue and white sand, alternating golden ocher.
The particular Arutas beach, which extends for several hundred meters, owes its peculiarity to the sand, composed of small, round quartz grains, with shades of colors that alternate between pink, light green and white. Like the other beaches of the Sinis-Montiferru, it is one of the favorite destinations for surfers, that ply its waters with the board. The backdrop, pretty deep right from the shore, takes on a deep green and blue that turns into blue and offers a highly visible marine life scenario since the first meters, with small schools of fish. In some coves of the long beach of Is Arenas, you can see parts of the coast with sand formed by white grains of rice and a very clean and clear water.
Further north there is some kn Putzu Idu which has a white sandy beach with nuances of gray. And 'it surrounded by the Saline that lie immediately behind him, stretching between S'Arena Scoada and Mandriola and looks like a long, narrow beach very welcoming, especially thanks to the crystal clear waters and very low, also suitable for children.
