Located in beautiful Grand County, Winter Park is a world class ski resort, part of Intrawest that includes Whistler Blackcomb in Canada and Heavenly Valley Ski Resort in Lake Tahoe. Late March is prime skiing time for this area. Blue bird sunny days and champagne powder snow are the norm. The Twin Rivers Resort is a 15 minute drive from the ski area and another short drive from a well maintained cross country ski area to the North and a large tow rope tubing hill. In fact, this very tubing hill is featured in the February 12, 2015 article in the Huffington Post as an experience of a lifetime. Every half-hour during ski season, a complimentary shuttle is available outside Twin Rivers to and from Winter Park Mountain and selected stops such as CooperCreek Square and the bustling Safeway grocery store.
This spacious unit offers three bedrooms, two bathrooms, second story with a loft, and a balcony overlooking the spectacular mountain range and the Continental Divide. The master bedroom has a king bed and a flat screen TV mounted on the wall for easy viewing. The adjacent bedroom has two twin beds, and the upstairs bedroom has a queen bed with a skylight. All bedrooms have abundant dresser and closet space. The upstairs loft has a pull out sleeper sofa with a TV and a work desk with rollaway chair. There is adequate space in the upstairs loft to accommodate a blow-up mattress, which can be purchased at your local Costco or the Denver Costco stores, and sleep another two people. The second bathroom is upstairs in the loft. Both bathrooms include hair dryers and complimentary toiletries. All together, the unit can sleep up to 10 people.
The kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances and plenty of counter space and cabinets. The dining area has a large oval table with brand new comfy chairs and faces the beautiful mountain view. The gas fireplace in the living room with vaulted ceilings has massive moss rocks with a slab hearth to sit upon, adjacent to the TV and the mountain view. There is a range of cable options on the TV and free wireless internet. Immediately downstairs are the two hot tubs, the sauna, and multiple washers and dryers in a laundry area. You can put on a robe and slippers and just walk downstairs from the unit to enjoy the warmth of the tubs after a day in the snow. If you like to use time efficiently, you can use the laundry services in the guest area adjacent to these hot tubs and sauna while you soak in the jetted hot tubs or simply go upstairs to your unit and bask in the warmth of the fireplace, viewing the mountains or your favorite TV /DVD show. Twin Rivers also provides complimentary shuttle service to Winter Ski Area and CooperCreek Square shopping and dining area. Other first class restaurants are a short drive away. While snowboarding/skiing, it is recommended to experience the top of the mountain restaurants at Winter Park and Mary Jane Mountains.
No need to bother with a car rental if you choose to go green. Amtrak Service is offered on a daily basis between Denver and Winter Park via the California Zephyr long distance Superliner Train. This mode of transportation has private rooms available for groups and families and accessible space for mobility impaired riders as well as relaxing coach seats which recline. Along with the ever-changing scenery, there is a dining car onboard with delectable meals. There is also a Sightseer Lounge car with panoramic view windows and beverages and snacks to purchase.
If you are coming from the Denver Airport, there is a charter service, Home James, whose drivers are commercially licensed employees of Home James, not independent contractors. No worries about finding your lodging or navigating the mountains. This charter company drives you from curbside baggage checking at Denver International Airport to your door at Twin Rivers and you personally schedule a pickup from the unit at Twin rivers back to DIA. They offer 24/7 on-line reservations or phone reservations.
There is an in-town taxi service, which we as owners have used, when the Winter Park Train, operated by the city of Denver had been available as transportation from Denver's Union station to Winter Park. At that time, the City Of Denver had owned Winter Park Resorts. We found the in-town taxi drivers professional and courteous.
Winter Park and Fraser, elevation 9110 feet, have grown from sleepy mountain towns (Denver's secret paradise within an hour's drive) into an international destination resort area. While our family, coming to Boulder in the late 1960's, now scans old pictures of the children playing in the now defunct Amaze indoor play center above Safeway (grocery store is still standing) and proudly mount their wooden skis in the basement, the new and improved Winter Park/Fraser area has expanded exponentially.
CooperCreekSquare, in the heart of downtown, now has FREE horsedrawn carriage rides every Saturday during snow season. A well-maintained outdoor ice skating rink with rentals at the Square's own Christy Sports is directly next to CooperCreek. A firepit in Coopercreek late afternoon and evening warms the hands, feet, and soul after ice skating or doing other outdoor mountain activities. The final full week in March has Open Mic night at Mountain Grind in CooperCreek on Friday 3/20/15 and FREE live music at the Square's own DaVinci's Restaurant on Thursday 3/26/2015 with a recently expanded outdoor wooden deck. People can often meet Colorado artists displaying their works and local artisans selling hand hammered sterling silver and copper jewelry in the Square. Although Denver's secret is finally out, the magic of this authentic mountain town remains intact.
The 1300 square foot unit is available March 20-27th of 2015. I've lived in Colorado for 40plus years and have 3 children. I stayed in Boulder after attending graduate school at the University of Colorado. I work in health care. This is our first year renting this unit. Our children have fond memories of their spring breaks with an amazing adventures in Winter Park annually.

This property is ideal for those who want to be close to the mountain yet seek spacious accommodation to stretch their legs in the evenings. The layout is great for families with young children who would have a blast exploring the unique spaces of the loft or relaxing in the family room. The unit offers plenty of privacy, full accommodations and affordability for a great mountain resort. No need to get cold at night to get to the hot tubs or laundry area as the unit is located upstairs in the building containing those amenities. Twin Rivers has many buildings but only Nystrom will keep you from unnecessary walking in the cold. Also, only upstairs units have those wonderful vaulted ceilings with an overlooking loft and the best mountain views.
About the mountain: Winter Park is a unique ski resort that was originally owned by the City of Denver. The ski school in Winter Park is second to none and has a world famous disability skiing program. The adjacent mountain, Mary Jane is still my son's favorite mountain to snowboard/ski.
Housekeeping is available as is troubleshooting 24/7 with a local management company which is paid to be there for you when you need them. There is also a rope tow tubing hill right down the block to mix it up with the great mountain skiing.
Skiing Winter Park is better than any other place in Colorado, Vail and Aspen included. And it is less crowded than those more popular places to ski. The accommodations are divine, we were here in the 90s. And we plan to come again!
World class groomed tow rope tubing hill nearby.
