The completely renovated (rebuilt), Western standard apartment is situated in the downtown 'Palota Negyed' or Palace Quarter in the 'heart of Budapest' as the Budapest Sun calls the part of this lovely district.
(Muzeum korut's East side, 'Rakoczi ut' South side, Jozsef korut's West side, Ulloi ut's North side provide the four borders of Palota Negyed. Here you will find the Italian Culture Center, the Hungarian Radio, the old National Museum, lovely 'walk only' streets, synagogues and churches, restaurants and pubs.)
The apartment itself is on the fourth floor (with elevator access) of a traditional, brick 19th. Century apartment building on Jozsef krt, facing the courtyard. Peaceful, quite, meticulously clean and very practical are the words that best describes this lovely apartment.
Less than a block away from the subway, streetcars and buses, walking distance to museums, to the famed and newly reopened New York Cafe (Boscolo's new Hotel New York), Hauer Cafe, Museum of Applied Arts (the famous art deco exhibition), Great Synagogue and more, the apartment is ideally located.
If you feel like shoping, there is the newly reopened classical Hungarian department store, Skala-Corvin, and a Farmer's market just a block away, as well as smaller department stores.
The bedroom contains a large double bed, nighttables, and a closet. The bathroom is set with glass mosaic tiles, wall hang toilet, and tiled shower. The living room contains a sofabed, television, dvd player, and there is a dining room table with chairs and an open concept kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, caffe maker, plates, dishes and cutlery. Your apartment contains a small built-in safe for your convenience.
We provide linens, towels and other necessities. The apartment has its private heating system, air-conditioner and its own washer and dryer. Your local host lives in the building, and if there is anything you may need you should not hesitate to contact your hosts, as they would be more than happy to arrange taxis, make reservations to restaurants and cultural events.

So, what are our guests saying? Here are some unsolicited comments:
'Your apartment was absolutely perfect and quiet. We spent a very relaxing week in Budapest and will certainly come back soon.' Roland & Ursula - Switzerland
'..The apartment was perfect, thanks to you.'
Hamida & Sébastien - France - January 29
'We choose your apartment because the apartment we rent usually was not available. Yours is interesting, quiet, in the middle of the city, wand the washing machine is a great idea. If you want to sell it someday, please let me know. We could be interested.' Andre - UK
'We just arrived home in Canada and want to thank you for your help in making our trip to Budapest just super. Your apartment was well equipped with everything we needed. It was extremely clean and comfortable and the location was easy walking distance to just about everywhere. Your help and tips in advance of the trip made everything smooth and Georgy's hospitality while there made us feel completely relaxed.' Rosanne and Dan - Ottawa, Canada
' We had an amazing time in Budapest staying in a terrific apartment centrally located on the Pest side of Budapest. It was quiet, centrally located and terrifically fitted out with everything one could want - a home away from home and having a washing machine and dryer was absolutely wonderful. Supermarkets, ATM machines and public transport were at your doorstep and we would recommend this apartment to the most discerning traveller. ' A&JB from Melbourne, Australia
This is me, Eva with my two girls and with my adorable husband, who was a good sport, when I said 'I thought we should buy an apartment in Budapest.' Although he has said 'I know I cannot win, I will either have to listen to you telling me what a great opportunity we passed on, or I have to listen to you telling me what a great idea this was...'
The Owner purchased this apartment in 2005
I grew up in Budapest. For that matter I grew up in this apartment building, built in the beginning of the last Century. I left Hungary a long time ago but I never gave up visiting my parent, my sister and other family members, and certainly did not give up on introducing Hungary to my kids. I kept flying back almost every year, and when this apartment right next door to my parents came up for sale I grabbed the opportunity to 'own a piece' of the 'Old Country'. I love to take my kids to Budapest, and I would never choose an other location than this apartment. It is safe, quite, and close to everything without the hassle of the tourist traps, the noise and lack of transportation. Not at last this property is legal. It has been registered with the local authorities, so rest assured, we are paying taxes, and you are contributing to the local economy (as cheesy as it sounds.)
Contrary to any advertising you will read, Budapest does not have a Downtown. It does have a tourist center with all the expensive stores, restaurants, and entertainment but the major attractions are scattered around the city, so if you are not keen to stay where all the tourists are staying, this is the place for you. The subway, streetcar, busses are two minutes away, and you can reach downtown by transportation or by walking. For that matter some of the museums, cafes, farmer market, and other attractions are closer or as easy to reach from here than from many of the properties that you can rent for more. The apartment is 2 blocks away from the New York Cafe (Bosco), 2 streetcar stops (or a short walk) from the Museum of Applied Arts, same distance to the Large Synagogue, the farmer's market is almost just across the street, fantastic restaurants, like Fulemule, just around the corner.....
we stayed in your apartement in Budapest in august last year. We had a nice
time and enjoyed it.
This year we are planing a trip again .... What price would you offer us for that
We are back from a 3 weeks vacation at this beautiful city and very comfortable and equipped apartment.
Very well located,secure and quiet.
To have Georgy and Irene on the same floor was very reassuring and useful for all the directions and guidance to navigate the city.
We travel a lot since our retirement and stayed in many apartments , but this was one of our favorites places.
Thank you again Eva, Georgy and Irene and we would like to welcome you in NewYork soon.
We stayed at this charming and modern apartment for 2-1/2 months. Everything about it was perfect and suited our needs. The hosts next door were super and ready to help in any way. The location is ideal for easy access to the Vilamos, Metro and the Bus to get to the heart of the city. The building was very secure and kept very clean in the hallways. Cleaning service for the apartment was excellent. Having a phone for local calls and WiFi was great. All our needs were met in every way. We had a very hot couple of weeks and the air conditioning was an added bonus. Anyone would love their stay here!
We are sorry for this very late review after staying in the apartment for 5 days in Sept. 2012. We had a wonderful stay. Everything about the experience was positive. The apartment is exactly as advertised and we found it perfect for a couple. We loved the farmers market and the convenient location to all types of shopping and sightseeing. It's also convenient for getting to and jogging along the river or in several parks. We ate at several of the restaurants nearby that Eva suggested and we loved all of them because they were not places where most tourists would go. We took the nearby metro most of the time and it was extremely easy to find our way around because of the good maps provided in the apartment. We had a couple of minor problems in the apartment which were quickly sorted out by Eva's lovely English speaking father. He was most accommodating in terms of filling us in on all sorts of information about Budapest. He met us on arrival and arranged for a taxi for us upon on departure. We enjoyed watching TV, using the washing machine, cooking, etc. The apartment is very clean and has everything you need for a short or long stay. The only suggestion we'd make is to buy new towels for the bathroom. We will definitely stay here again if we have the opportunity to visit Budapest. Thank you Eva and family!
Brilliant! Central location, excellent hosts and wonderfully comfortable apartment. I'm recommending ithe property already.
My husband and I stayed at the apartment in August for seven nights. The apartment is walking distance to everything. We only took the metro once. We walked to Széchenyi (30mins) and Gellert (20mins) baths, Buda Castle, the farmer's market, Danube waterfront, etc, etc, etc. The apartment is nicely furnished and the laundry was great to have for our week long stay. The owner's parents are the hosts and so sweet and helped us arrange transportation to and from the airport. The owner, Eva, was very responsive and even provided suggestions for places to go in Budapest. I would stay at this apartment again and recommend it to anyone looking for good accommodation in Budapest.
This apartment was one of the most dependable and affordable accommodations we experienced during our European vacation. Everything was as explained in the property listing, without exception. The apartment was immaculately clean, simply but well appointed, and very comfortable. We especially appreciated the free WiFi and the washer/dryer.
Construction on the ceramic walkways of the complex did not interfere with our activities, and resulted in a reduced rate! Our local hosts, Gyorgy and Iren, were welcoming, interested in our welfare and most eager to help. As two women travellers, we felt safe knowing these folks were our advocates. Owner Eva's comprehensive descriptions before the trip helped us to make the most of our stay in Budapest.
Only a few steps to the tram, or to their efficient subway system, and we were off to Buda Castle; to museums-Applied Arts, Museum of Terror; to historic and religious sites-the Great Synogogue, St.Stephen's Basilica; to the opera and ballet at the Hungarian State Opera House; to City Park & Circus, Szechenyi Baths, and Citadella. We felt comfortable walking down our street at night to a restaurant or patio, or hiking up Gellert Hill. On a Night Dinner Cruise of the Danube, we slipped past the magnificent lighted Parliament Buildings and under the great bridges. We even rode the bus into the hills to Memento Park to see the giant statues from days of the Russian occupation. Each night we returned to the apartment to communicate online, watch TV, and recharge with comfortable sleep.
Budapest is a charming and remarkable city with a great deal to offer! The architecture alone is so varied and beautiful. The people are warm and friendly. We hope to return, in the winter next time. Many thanks to our host, Eva, for her honest and sincere representation of her property and her most considerate treatment of us. Our appreciation also to her parents, the on site hosts, for their kindness and caring. We highly recommend this VRBO to fellow tourists. It had everything we needed, and it really is in the heart of Budapest!
