We (group of 5 snowmobilers) stayed 3 nights here. The cabin is very nice and well equipped. We cooked our breakfasts and got supper going in the crockpot each morning before hitting the trails for the day. The cabin is located in the heart of a very extensive trail system and has easy access to the trail. From here one can ride as far as you like in any direction. Our group put just over 300 miles on our machines in 2 and 1/2 days of riding. For the most part, the trails were in excellent condition and not nearly as crowded as they have been when we've went to the U. P. of Michigan. We only spoke to Don, the owner, over the phone, but he was very friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this cabin if you are looking for a good snowmobile destination and a nice place to stay.
This home is awesome for families! Lots of space for each of us to spread out and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Close to Itasca State Park and lots of "tourist" things to do if that is your choice. Peace and quiet at this lake home if that is your choice. The setting is peaceful, the sunsets gorgeous, the lake wonderful for canoe or kayak. The owners provide amenities perfect for kids of all ages. Swing set, sandbox, paddle boat, outdoor toys. We made a summer visit and would love to come back for a winter visit and some cross country skiing. Thank you for sharing this space. It was hard to leave! Greg & Sue & family, Sunburg MN
We had a wonderful long weekend at Don and Gail's cabin. It seemed newly-built and was clean as a whistle when we arrived. Don was very helpful and welcoming on the phone. The great room has a wall of windows that look out onto the lake and allow for great sunset views. The kitchen was very nice and had everything we needed to prepare meals. The master bedroom on the main level was spacious and there are 3 snug bedrooms downstairs, all with comfortable beds. Our kids had a great time hanging out in the loft above the great room as well as in the large family room in the walk-out lower level. If you're spending time in beautiful Itasca State Park, the location can't be beat. Park Rapids is about 15 minutes away with really good dining options. We would definitely stay here again if we have the chance!
Our group of 5 (family and friends) all agreed: This spot was fabulous! The house was spacious and well-equipped, with a high-ceilinged main room; the lake was perfect for swimming, with plentiful water toys and equipment; and we were less than 10 minutes from Itasca State Park (a gem). The master bedroom was spacious and airy. The lower level bedrooms (3) are quite small, but worked fine with just one person in each. We wanted to cook and eat at the house, and the open, modern, well-equipped kitchen (and excellent grill) made this easy and fun. The dining table faced a window overlooking the lake, making for good sunsets. When we weren't out and about or in the lake, we were sitting in the wonderfully comfortable deck chairs, enjoying the views, each other's company, and (some of us) early morning bird sounds. The quietness of the area with the birch trees was blissful! Even though we didn't have children in our group, it was fun to see all the amenities that kids would enjoy. Thanks, Don and Gail, for sharing your lovely home, and we will probably make a return visit sometime -- maybe to take in another season.
Our family stayed here for 3 nights and had a wonderful time. The cabin was in excellent condition with a lot of open space on the main floor and another open area on the bottom floor. The three rooms on the bottom floor were small, but the master bedroom was large and beautiful. The beds were comfortable. They had numerous toys perfect for toddlers including a play structure and sandbox outside. We enjoyed using their fishing boat, kayak, paddleboat and canoe as well as their fully equipped kitchen. We could not have stayed at a more beautiful place for our time together.
We had the privilege of staying for 10 days in this beautiful cabin. The cabin had all the amenities that were needed to make our vacation very relaxing! Nestled in the woods and secluded from the city we had fun fishing off the dock and swimming in the lake. We were just down the road from Itasca State Park where we were able to rent bikes to explore the trails. We had a visit from a deer in the yard one evening and the loons calls were peaceful to listen to. Park Rapids and Bemidji were only 20-30 minutes or less away for entertainment if desired. Thank you Don and Gail for sharing your cabin with us!!
