This beautifully decorated 'cozy cottage' has the old time charm of historic Leadville and all the comforts of home. Located on the northern side of town, everything is just steps away!
The cottage features three bedrooms (one bedroom with a queen, two rooms with twin beds), one full bath with a shower/tub, a fully-equipped country kitchen with brand new appliances and a spacious family room.
In the Summer: Discover why Colorado's Upper Arkansas River Valley is considered by many the Capitol of Whitewater River Rafting. Additionally, enjoy hiking, biking, fishing, mountain climbing, exploring old ghost towns or simply relaxing in the cottage while you soak in the scenery of one of Colorado's oldest mining communities.
In the Winter: We have some of the country's best skiing. Only ten minutes to Ski Cooper and within easy driving distance of five other major ski areas (Copper Mountain, Vail/Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin). Additionally, enjoy great cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and more right outside your door.
For our non-smoking guests' comfort, we CAN NOT allow pets or smoking inside our cottage!
I love Colorado and hope my guests have a wonderful time!
The Owner purchased this house in 1986
Love the history of the town!
We go to Leadville every other year on business. We usually stay at the Columbine Inn, which is cheap, but has the worst beds in the world. This year we decided to take our kids with us and make a vacation out of the trip so we looked into renting a house instead of staying at the hotel. Note: there are no comfortable hotels in Leadville. They are all motel 6 quality and noone has a decent mattress. We spent 4 nights in this house (we left 1 night early due to personal reasons). I would rent this house again.
Pros: comfortable beds (I wish I brought my own pillow though- the pillows are flat and worn out), linens and towels. Nice pots and pans. I didnt even have to use the skillet I brought from home! Location is excellent- on the north side of town, close to the Safeway. Don't have to drive through downtown to get to Ski Cooper. The heat worked great. We were worried we would be cold, but no problems there. The place was immaculate. I'm talking spotless. The washer and dryer was a godsend. We cut our packing in half because we could do laundry. Fast wifi and good TV selection. We didnt try Netflix or the DVD player.
Cons: Tiny little place- much smaller than it looks on the computer and quirky. The doors dont line up or shut properly and the floor is uneven. The master bedroom doesnt have a door and the only bathroom is inside the master. No privacy for the adults. The upstairs is what used to be the attic and only one bedroom has a door. Adults might have trouble accessing the upstairs. Not really accessible to anyone with a mobility issue. I wouldnt recommend this house for families with small children (under 4ish) as the staircase is steep with no railing and the parents sleep downstairs. Parking was an issue as our spot was not shovelled and it was hard to park without blocking the neighbors. No views from inside the house. Awesome views from just outside the front door but no where to sit and enjoy them.
Overall- a great value and much more comfortable than any of the local hotels in Leadville.
A couple of recommendations: Quincy's is a must do if you like steak. Very good and affordable too! Top of the Rockies Zipline was a blast. Ski Cooper is awesome and the attached Nordic Center had great cross country skiing. Bring sunscreen even in the winter.
My family spent 5 nights in this cottage in Leadville and we had the best vacation - ever. The cottage is clean and roomy enough for 6 of us to be very comfortable. The kitchen was great, we had several family meals together. The laundry was great, we were able to minimize the clothing we needed to pack. The bathroom, shower - all good. Grill on the back patio - - how can you go wrong? We used the Mineral Belt Trail (2 blocks from the cottage) many times, walked downtown for a few meals and general sightseeing. We launched our other adventures from this very convenient location as well; Turquoise Lake is 6 miles down the road, Mt. Elbert trailhead is 10 miles down the road, BV and whitewater rafting was 30 miles down the road. The neighbors were friendly, the view of the continental divide is fabulous, you can see the two highest peaks in the state from the back patio - - I could go on. Leadville gives off a cool vibe that I found attractive - - it has all the views and activities that a Vail and Aspen would have without the pretension. I saw a bumper sticker that said it all: "Leadville - We're Here Because We're Not All There." If you've got Wall Street money and want to stay at the InterContinental, that is awesome, do that. If you're a regular guy like me who adheres to the "....do as the Romans do..." mantra, rent this house.
We went for three nights, cooking delicious meals for six. Lots of good pots, pans and dishes are unbreakable. Great for the toddler. Sking just two blocks away, sledding, ski-joring, library all free. Best children's library section in the state. Watched the night, snow-bike racers come around the corner for the final hill and finish. Excellent thrift stores and quilters shop. We will be back for a summer holiday. Very Clean!
We stayed here while skiing Ski Cooper and Monarch Mountain. Perfect for 5 adults-college age to age 50's. Small but warm when below zero at night. Only 1 bath but enough for us. No hot tub but we paid and used the public one in town (at the aquatic center) a couple nights and also used the sauna/swam in the pool/showered there too. Good bed set up with 4 twin beds and 1 queen since we had only 1 married couple. Reasonably priced and well stocked with supplies.-everything we needed in kitchen and house including washer and dryer, tv service, and wi-fi ( wi-fi vital for us!). Skiing was great at Ski Cooper with good snow and no lift lines despite it being the holiday break. When we became bored there we drove to Monarch Mountain because it had fresh powder & challenging slopes (love moguls) and also has reasonably priced lift tickets and NO lift lines. We were able to fix our own healthy meals and play games/watch movies in the evening. We had a fantastic ski vacation, rested comfortably at night, and didn't spend a fortune!
We rented the Cozy Cottage for 5 nights for a girl's getaway trip. It was wonderful. The house had the perfect amount of room and it was very clean and comfortable. It was great to have a kitchen - we had most of our meals there. The owner has done a great job in making it a homey place to stay with many amenities. We were just minutes away from the Leadville Train, Turquoise Lake, Twin Lakes, the Route of the Silver Kings and of course, shopping. The communication for setting up and staying at the house was outstanding. I would highly recommend the cottage for your stay.
This was an adorable house located in a great place. Our family had a great time and look forward to renting this home again. If you are looking for a cute, cozy home in the wonderful town of Leadville, I would definitely recommend this house.
