Enjoy your fresh baguette and croissants every morning from the neighborhood bakery. From the house, hike for hours on the lovely trail that follows the beaches.
Located near the village of Sainte Rose, with its authentic outdoor market and fresh fish. Climb the volcano's, snorkel on the reef, go fishing, go canyoning or hike in the mountains, and enjoy La Grande Anse, the most beautiful beach of the Island. The island has so much to offer!
The owners were great and responded quickly to all of our questions and needs. The house has a great location with the beach and grocery store within easy walking distance. It is a short drive from the airport and very easy to find, although, you do need a car to get to the many beaches and restaurants, which are awesome. The house itself is great. We loved the private pool just off the terrace--a quick dip and you feel refreshed. The covered terrace next to the pool deck was a great place to eat lunch or dinner when not out touring. The trees and bushes around the pool are beautiful. The house and kitchen are well furnished, clean and up-to-date. The beds were so comfortable; it felt just like home. The WIFI was very fast and worked great for streaming movies. We wished we had booked two weeks.
This lovely home in a quiet neighborhood was obviously a get-away for the owner as well as a rental. There were amenities that most rentals don't have like both a washer and dryer, super clean swimming pool, fans and air conditioning that kept the whole house cool and enjoyable.
The beach was one of our favorites, but the pictures online were a little misleading. We found no hiking trails straight from the back yard and the beach was a few blocks over from the property. Neither of these things was a problem, but not exactly as we expected.
I would recommend this property to anyone who would like the feeling of actually living on the island. We don't desire the "Disney" or "Sandals" experience on vacation so this was great.
We rented the house for a week to take our daughter, her husband and our granddaughter on vacation during the New York City school break. It was ideal for us. The house is well located, not far from the airport so that traveling after dark from a late arriving flight was not daunting. Marie, the caretaker, promptly welcomed us and instructed us about the house. As first-time travelers to Guadeloupe that was important to us. Being able to communicate in French helped, but part of the charm for us was that the island is truly French and largely undiscovered by Americans, at least thus far! The residents were all friendly and helpful.
We agree with the assessment of others about proximity to the grocery store, beach and sights of Basse-Terre and the need for a car for the latter. Ditto the comfort and cleanliness of the house as well as the Internet service. Lauren was always available to answer our questions.
This was a wonderful experience for us. Our 6 year old granddaughter cried when we had to leave!
Thank you Lauren…for making your wonderful property a real ‘home-away-from-home” for travelers to Guadeloupe.
This absolutely beautiful & impeccably clean home was the perfect retreat after a day out exploring Basse-Terre & beyond. A morning swim in the private pool with coffee & breakfast at the patio table was a wonderful way to start the day. The location was ideal, with just s short jaunt by car to Deshaies or St. Rose & walking distance to groceries and a beach just 2 blocks away…and dining at La Sucrerie de Nogent right in the neighborhood. We easily day-tripped to the National Park, the botanical gardens “Jardin Botanique de Deshaies”, etc.
The house has every convenience including fast & reliable wifi. The comfort of the property made It a privilege to spend time there.
Lauren was absolutely prompt and professional from the first rental inquiry to the end of the stay. No question or inquiry was left unanswered. Thank you again. Our one regret was that our vacation was too short.
A REFAIRE !!!
The owner's personal favorite things to do on Basse-Terre:
- Climb the volcano 'La Soufriere'
- Snorkel in Jacques Cousteau underwater reserve 'Pigeon Island'
- Canyon and hike in the National Park Tropical Forests
- Enjoy and relax on the beautiful beach of La Grande Anse
- Dine on the water in Deshaies (several restaurants)
- Escape for a day on the water with a guide to the small white sand Islets, fish on the reef, and visit the mangrove
