About Andy Gridley

Living in Napa Valley, we enjoy green mountains, vineyards and fabulous wines. We kept returning to Kailua-Kona to snorkel, swim, explore and relax. We have friends who snowbird here from Washington and a friend from long, long ago. Each trip back we meet more people and gather more friends. Hawaiian hospitality and Aloha spirit is unlike any other.

Andy Gridley purchased this condo in 2013

Why Andy Gridley chose Kailua-Kona

We purchased this condo to be close to everything and yet have a beautiful lanai to sit back and slow down. The sounds of the ocean, tile floors, decor and breezes that flow through give that Hawaiian feel through and through.

What makes this condo unique

The cozy kitchen is perfect for preparing meals, but if cooking isn't your thing, pop downstairs to one of the islands favorite restaurants where Kona coffee is brewing seven days a week. Need a mani/pedi or a massage or acupuncture, it's all within steps of the complex.

Best Equipped place ever stayed....

  • 4 of 5

Great large condo, well equipped and clean. Great location for food and shopping, but can be loud at night when bars close. Big lanai with view of ocean - Nice pool area. Manager Sonny helpful as well.

Nice location

  • 3 of 5

This condo is in a great location downtown. So you do get the street noise if you are a light sleeper probably not for you. It needs a little TLC as far as upkeep and cleaning. The window shutters in the bedroom are broken so we could not close at night. Also there are no curtains in the bedroom or living room so you have no way to keep out the lights from the street. It does have all the basics you need for 2 people and plenty of fans to provide a nice cooling effect.

We had a wonderful stay in Andy's condo

  • 5 of 5

The view was better than expected. We saw whales and surfers from the balcony. The condo was close to everything, so we walked most places. We look forward to returning.

Great location but noisy

  • 3 of 5

The location was wonderful with direct access to Ali'i Drive. The farmers market and Kona Inn shopping centre were close at hand. The condo was reasonably well equipped and supplied. The negatives were no blinds in the bedroom and no curtains/blinds in the lining room. Bathrooms were tiny. The patio door lock was corroded and didn't work. There was no bread knife or roasting pan. The communal BBQ was filthy and hard to use without flare ups. The second BBQ had no propane. It was quite noisy at night because of the proximity to the street some party noise and some idiot in the next establishment who warmed his motorcycle up for two or three minutes most nights at 2 am before going for a run.

Great stay but a couple small issues

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for seven days in Jan 2018. Overall the condo and location are great. The unit is exceptionally well stocked. The kitchen had everything you could ever need. (a knife sharpener!) You have all the beach gear you could ever need, goggles, chairs, umbrella, coolers ect. The unit is bright and very clean. It is a bit dated but that was not an issue. There is no air conditioning but there was an amazing breeze through the unit at night which cooled it down to a perfect sleeping temp. The unit is well laid out with good furnishings and a nice large lanai.

Now for the bad stuff.

The location is great but it is between two busy streets Ali's Drive and Kuakini Hwy. That coupled with the unit backing onto several bars on the south side made it noisy at night. Just remember to bring ear plugs.

The second issue is a bit picky but it is the bedding. In a hot climate it is way better to sleep on cotton sheets. The sheets were a poly blend and were not comfortable at all. The pillows could also use an upgrade.

The last issue has to do with the building. The outside looks tired, the parking garage and paint in the lobby is looking like it needs a little love. Don't let that put you off. Once you are in the unit it is spotless.

My wife and I liked everything about the condo (510). It was clean, comfortable, had all the things we needed for cooking, and a gorgeous view of the ocean. The building also has a very good security system and pool.

We usually do not rent a car while in Kona, so the downtown location was ideal for us.

Yes, I would highly recommend this condo to others
