About Jo Pierce
I am yogi, cyclist, attorney, that volunteers a lot for social services. I use the rental to allow me the freedom to help others and do my own thing. The place is vintage, comic book, antique, hippy eclectique. I have a old basset hound and Chihuahua terrier mix that are my babies. If you come and stay please feel welcome to my little purple house.
Why Jo Pierce chose East Side
The home is in the arts district so lots of good eats and drinks, but also very close to the Riverwalk, convention center and downtown. It's a vintage interesting little place so it will hopefully it will be a little step outside of our day to day. It has a great kitchen, plenty of parking, southern front porch to relax. Welcome to South Texas darling.
What makes this House unique
Its hard to find a 100 plus year old renovated energy efficient green home with two bathrooms. Lots to explore and I am an institution in the area so I can point you in the right direction.
Please let me know if you are bringing children.
My home is partially furnished with antiques from my family so please be gently on them. Absolutely no smoking. Feel free to use my dishes and pots and pans but please put them in the dishwasher after. Please don't use any of my antique dishes or glasses.

Great location not so great house
House was old with charm but not very clean and was very cluttered. Pillows and towels were old and we heard loud trains all night. It was super close to the river walk and some good restaurants but we didn't sleep very well.
Although the inside of the house was decorated nicely it was a little creepy having someone else personal items all over the house. The owners make-up bottles, toothpaste, shampoo, socks, and pictures were all over. The bed comforter had a red stain on it that grossed me out. When I took a shower there was along hair in the soap dispenser. Dog hair was all over the floor and the sofa smelled like a dog. Dust was packed on the ceiling fan above the bed. Overall the house gave me an uneasy feeling, I couldn't wait to leave. It's a shame because the owner seamed very nice. With a little TLC, some cleaning and removing of personal items this house could be a lot better.
My wife was very pleased. Happy wife happy life
Felt at home instantly. Pet friendly home modern with an antique feel.
Quiet street, very convenient in downtown San Antonio
The house was quiet, solid, comfortable and very clean. Instructions were provided and very easy to understand. Updated bathrooms, nice bedrooms and plenty of space for our visit. The proximity of the house to downtown San Antonio, and dining amenities, made our stay very enjoyable.
Great spot in S. Town
Our family had a great stay. Plenty of space. Great kitchen.
This was our 1st Home Away experience. Pros: location, cute home with everything you need, home owner accessible, pet friendly. Cons: dog smell was overwhelming, especially on the couch, vents need cleaning.
We sprayed an all natural odor killer, helped some, but didn't use on the leather couch which I suspect is the problem. I do not have a keen sense of smell and my husband had a head cold, we own 2 dogs, but it was intense. We did not inform H.O. until after we left; it was Christmas weekend and we made the booking the night before arrival - so we assumed she didn't have the time she normally would to prepare for our visit.
I'm confident she would have addressed the smell or any other needs, had we spoken to her.
The neighborhood is called Southtown.
The closest river access is .2 miles (about a 5 minute walk), and then its about a half mile to the start of the restaurants, starting with the Blue Star Arts Complex, next is the KIng William Neighborhood, then the main tourist drag picks up.
It is 1.7 miles to LaVillita and Hemisphere Park which is the main tourist part of downtown.
It is 1.5 miles to the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.
