Amazing views and hosts
A group of friends and i stayed at Villa Nilla Beatrice and we had an amazing stay. The house was clean and even though we were delayed due to traffic the host stayed and made sure we arrived and showed us around. Natasha was available at every question we had and she worked so hard to ensure our stay was everything we needed it to be with arranging the chef and also ground transportation to and from Sorrento and airports. Truly great experience and we hope to return some day!!
Decent place outside of Sorrento, wonderful views.
This is a nice villa, but it could use some work. Beautiful views, plenty of room for our group of 7. Fairly easy access once you find it. Very close to Massa Lubrense, a town of 13,000 or so with excellent grocery/wine/bank options and a very good restaurant, Il Cuccinic (spelling may be off there). Mediterranean is 150 ft below and crystal clear. It's an easy walk down but walking back up is a challenge. Numerous places to swim, although "beach" areas are hard to come by. Nice walk to the marina in Massa where two small cafes/bars are there to offer you the best of seaside accommodations. English speakers will have no problem communicating. Angelo's was especially fun and his daughters speak beautiful English. Isle of Capri is maybe 2 nautical miles from shore and glows white as the morning sun shines off the cliffs. Sunsets every night are gorgeous. Day trips to Capri and the Amalfi Coast are convenient and inexpensive.
The villa: could use some TLC. It was comfortable but worn. Especially the furnishings in the living room. Actually, the couches weren't comfortable and they appeared dirty, as if windows had been left open during a rain storm and soaked them. No other way to explain the stains. Hot water could be iffy at times, the bath tub in the basement leaked, and the faucet in the main floor bath stopped working. The pool was frigid, of course we were there mid-Oct. And the out door "pizza oven" looked as though it had been used as a fireplace. I wouldn't cook anything on that surface.
Sorry to be so hard on the place because we did enjoy our stay. Would we do it again? Hard to say. For the price we paid I expect none of the issues we dealt with. Like I said, it could use some TLC and maybe we caught it at the end of the season after a long summer and fall of use. Luisa was very sweet and easy to work with and our deposit was refunded quickly. On a scale of 1-10 I'd rate it a 6-7.
Great villa!!! Wonderful stay!
We just returned from our vacation in Italy and had a wonderful five night stay at Villa Beatrice. The villa was quite spacious, clean and had wonderful views. The villa is located on a very narrow, winding, hilly road - you should rent a car as you will want it to get into Sorrento but be aware parking and driving on the hilly road do take some skill! By the end of our five night stay, my husband had it mastered (with a manual transmission car no less!). The pool is small but perfect for a dip at the end of a hot day of touring! We stayed at two other properties with more modern, updated bathrooms in our other stops on our trip, but these bathrooms were clean, although not updated and modern. Our first night we had pizza prepared in the oven which I would HIGHLY recommend - probably the best pizza we ate in Italy! Veggies fresh from the pizza chef's garden - ask for the lemon pizza! So good!!!! The hosts were easy to communicate with and Luisa, who met us at the villa on the day of our arrival and departure, was quite friendly and easy to communicate with. Overall, this is a great villa in a great location. The pool is a MUST - especially if travelling in the summer when we did - it was HOT and we loved ending our day relaxing in the pool (we bought some floats which we left there - so maybe they will still be there for future guests to enjoy!). Thanks Francisco for a great stay!!!
Beautiful villa, best sunsets and views. We were able to walk into town but all uphill and very dangerous walking home at night (bring a flashlight). Walk to beach downhill so uphill returning. Best to have car but we were 10 so difficult to do.Great days at the beach where we rented umbrellas and chairs. Den with futon not air conditioned so person sleeping there will be very hot at night. Kitchen had necessities and pool was great refreshing bonus. We loved our stay here and would certainly come back again.
Beautiful location, but a few problems
First, I would like to say that the location of this home is beautiful. You can watch the sunset at night on the veranda overlooking the water. The kitchen was very well equipped. Luisa was very nice.
However, the bathrooms were very moldy and not very clean. My sister in law spent our first night cleaning them. Not really the way you want to spend your vacation. When we asked the owner about it, they blamed the previous guests as being very dirty. Which is not a valid excuse since everything should be cleaned before the next guest arrives. Plus, I don't think mold grows that quickly. They did send over a cleaning crew. The furnishings are a little tired and the grounds were not kept up like surrounding homes. The pool was brown and mucky. I realize it was right before season, but you can still keep the pool clean and presentable. They state that they are 300 meters from the sea (which makes for a great view) but there is no beach access within walking distance since it is all private property.
The other problem was reimbursing our security deposit, which was added automatically to the invoice by Home Away. The owner said that I was supposed to give them that in cash when we arrived and that we should have contacted them to see what was the best way to pay. Essentially blaming me. If they wanted that arrangement, they should have contacted us. We were just following instructions from HomeAway, and we paid everything promptly. The owner claimed he was not aware that we had paid it. Which doesnt make any sence since upon arrival they did not ask for the security deposit. He then told us that they had forms they had to fill out from HomeAway and it would take some time since Homeaway was closed. And then claimed that the forms HomeAway sent were illegible. I called HomeAway myself and this was far from the case. It was a very simple online procedure. All that was needed on his part was a couple of clicks on the computer. We always use HomeAway and always have wonderful experiences and hospitable hosts. Every other time, we were greeted with a bottle of wine or some sort of welcome basket for our first night. Not here. They seemed to be in a hurry to give us they keys and get out of there.I rarely write negative reviews, but we felt we could have been treated better, since we were their paying guests. Not the best experience. And thanks to HomeAway, we did get back our security deposit.
This villa was an excelent choice because of its amazing location, beautifull view, a lot of space for 5 families and a good price. The owners are very friendly and try to accomodate your stay in all the aspect. Luisa , the person encharge, is very sweet and diligent and she leave close to the villa so any problems she'll be there in a minutes. The area, Massa Lubrense, is one of the best neighborhood in sorrento and is very close to the main town. We highly recommend this option to stay in sorrento.
Riviera di San Montano, where the villa is located, is a hill entirely exposed to the southwest, so sun-kissed from noon to sunset. From here in fact you can watch the greatest wonder of the sun setting over Capri Ischia and Procida or simply having dinner with a glass of wine! It 'an exciting show!
The villa has a swimming pool with loungers and shaded areas in the middle of olive trees area: here you can relax in the sun looking at the bay show or cool off with a drink.
The beach of San Montano is also within walking distance: Just down the road for 400 meters and you come to the beach (very clean and safe)!
The villa is however also close to all facilities necessary for a pleasant holiday: supermarket at 200 mt, 250 mt restaurants, small shops and village center Massa Lubrense 400 meters, the port of Massa 1km.
In Sorrento then you can find all kinds of shops, restaurants, bistros, tourist guides and excursions by land and sea.
Come to Villa Beatrice is really an unforgettable holiday !!!
