About the property

Private beach, 4 bdrms/3 full baths, sleeps 9, large deck, sweeping Bay views.

Built in 1956, subsequently expanded and improved. A 2015 renovation included an updated kitchen, with new appliances, designer-inspired bathrooms, with architectural ceramics and stone and fixtures, and interior designer-coordinated new living room and bedroom furnishings. (Updated photos to be provided.)

The Cottage is on one level and has central air conditioning and heating, along with a fireplace. There is a large deck overlooking the Bay, and a seating area at the top of the stairs leading to the private beach from which to watch the activities below. A gas grill is provided, along with an outdoor dining table and seating. An area of the deck outside the Master Bedroom has an awning to provide shade.

The Master Bedroom has a new, king bed, side tables and dresser, plus a sitting area with 2 new upholstered chairs, and an adjoining bathroom. The Master Bath has been completely renovated, with a walk-in shower, new vanity and fixtures. Access to the deck and the view of the water, is provided by a sliding glass door, framed by newly installed curtains.

The 1st Guest Bedroom, also has an adjoining all-new bathroom, with a walk-in shower. The light and airy bedroom has been upgraded to include new nautical wallpaper and 2 new twin beds.

The 2nd Guest Bedroom, is a cozy corner room, with views of the Bay in two directions from the new queen bed. The bedroom shares a renovated Family Bath with the Bunk Room across the hall.

The Bunk Room has a twin bed and an over-under bunk bed, with its own direct access to the Family Bath. The Family Bath includes a shower/tub combination, along with a hand shower control.

A full-sized washer and dryer are conveniently located near to the Family Bath and to the side door leading to the clothes line and the ever-popular outdoor shower.

Facing north, the main living area provides an unobstructed view of the Bay through full-length, picture windows, which slide to provide access to the deck, and from a cushioned, corner window seat, facing west. The vaulted ceiling enhances the spacious floor plan. A new couch, swivel chairs and poufs provide seating around a circular coffee table, large enough for board games and entertaining.

The living room is separated from the kitchen by an eating bar that seats five on swivel stools. The 50' TV can be viewed from both the bar and the living room. Cable and internet service is provided.

In addition to the eating bar, a dining room adjoins the living room, which has a table that seats 8. As with living room, the Bay can viewed from the eating bar and the dining room.

The property is nicely landscaped, with a pea stone semi-circle driveway providing ample parking, in addition to a 2-car garage.

About David Drake

Our family has owned and enjoyed the cottage ever since it was built in 1956. Most of the family lives in New England and three generations use the cottage as much as possible throughout the summer months and during the so-called off-season.

One might wonder, then, why are we listing the cottage for rent? It's because we want to generate some income so that we can continue to maintain the property in top shape for current and future generations of our family. We would like those who rent the cottage to respect and enjoy it, as much as we do.

David Drake purchased this cottage in 1956

Why David Drake chose Cape Cod

While the cottage looks very traditional from the street side, on entering the cottage, one notices the contemporary, open floor plan and the vaulted ceiling in the living room, with full-length picture windows facing Cape Cod Bay.

The cottage is located on Sesuit Neck, a well-knit community, composed mostly of long-term, summer residents. It is the kind of place, where friendships, developed over consecutive summers, have endured and become lifelong. As children, summers at the cottage meant endless hours, largely unsupervised, outside exploring tide pools, making sandcastles, netting small fish and crabs. As we got older, we turned our attention to sunbathing, sailing and fishing and, of course, summer jobs.

What makes this cottage unique

There are many activities and places to explore on the Cape, but a stay at the Cottage can provide all one might want. The private beach is just steps from the deck. No need to hassle with obtaining beach parking stickers or loading up the car.

The beach itself is beautiful, as is the scenery, with expansive views to the North, East and West. The water is clear, clean and refreshing. When the tide is out, children and adults use the exposed, firm sand flats for ball games, sunbathing or walking. When the tide is up, swimming, paddle boarding, fishing (striped bass frequently can be seen swimming along the shoreline), and other water sports are popular.

There is also the option of using the Town of Dennis beach just a short walk away by beach or road, which is staffed by town lifeguards.

As much as there is to do at the Cottage, there are numerous activities nearby.

The marina is a short walk from the Cottage, where a variety of charter fishing and excursion boats are docked. There is also a popular, casual restaurant at the marina.

Public tennis and golf facilities are within a 10-minute drive. Dennis Pines is a well-regarded public course. Nearby route 6A has a number of art galleries, antique shops and restaurants.

The Cape Playhouse has live theater performances and is with a 10-minute drive, as is the Cape Cinema in the Town of Dennis.

The PERFECT beach vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely LOVED our week in this home! Everything about it suited our family's needs and desires. Our extended family of 9 included my 90 year old mom, who was able to easily navigate the "all-on-one-floor" set up. The younger set bounded up and down the stairs to the beach all day long and into the evening; the easy back-and-forth from house to beach allowed us all to feel connected throughout the day. The weather was ideal, and every night we marveled at the sunset while eating dinner out on the spacious deck. This home provided the ideal setting for an memorable reunion! I must also add that the property owners were accessible, friendly, and so accommodating. Our family is already planning a return trip....

Beautiful Setting! Breathtaking Views!

  • 5 of 5

This home was perfect for our family trip. We chose this property originally because of the number of bedrooms and bathrooms. Upon arrival, it quickly exceeded our expectations. It worked for our group which included our 91 year old father and a couple who joined us for part of the vacation. The first thing you notice are the stunning views of Cape Cod bay from the wall of windows across the back of the house. The renovations updated the home, but the charm of the original construction is still there. We were out on the deck of the home everyday enjoying the water views and also walking down to the beach itself. There is a public beach access 2 doors from this home that allows you to walk straight onto the beach, if you would rather not walk down the steps from the backyard to the beach. The surrounding neighborhood lent itself to wonderful early morning walks. The kitchen was equipped with everything a cook would need. It was also nice to have a washer and dryer available to do laundry mid-trip. The setting is truly gorgeous and was exactly what we were looking for when we started the process of trying to find the perfect vacation home. We loved it so much we hope to return next year!
