About Emma

After 9 trips to Anna Maria Island we decided that it was time to commit to this beach paradise and buy a home. Years of enjoying our days on the perfect beaches, lunches on the pier, sunset champagnes with phenomenal fine dining and great nights socializing with the locals made this comfy beach town a part of us. And as our family has grown we wanted a place where we could relax, rejuvenate and that we could explore with our friends and kids.

Over the past few years we have purchased 3 homes.

We hope that you will find our little piece of paradise as welcoming as we do.

Why Emma chose Florida South West

A new adventure. This is our first rental on Lido Key. While we've visited for the day many times we've never owned a spot here. When we saw this spot we fell in love and knew the potential it had.

What makes this bungalow unique

It's only a 3 bedroom home but feels like so much more! Can easily accommodate 2 families.

So close to the beach and St. Armand's Circle. It's also a great location for day tripping to Sarasota, Long boat, Siesta Key or Anna Maria Island

Excellent Thanksgiving retreat

  • 5 of 5

Very nice house with pool. The kitchen was perfect for a laid back holiday break.

We rented the house to get away from crazy and have a quiet holiday. Being one block from the beach and having a private pool was so relaxing. The pool area was great for daytime as well as evening meal and cards/games. The bedrooms were comfortable and there was enough space between the three areas for a little me time.

One glich with the cable/internet due to area construction that was fixed as soon as possible was the only problem we experienced. The response from Emma was quick and there is no way this was a problem that could have been anticipated or prevented.

Loved it!!

Very well appointed beach house

  • 5 of 5

The house is beautifully decorated and comfortable in a quiet neighborhood. Something very important for me was three bedrooms so each of the 3 of us could have our own room. One of the bedrooms is in the guest house with its own bathroom. The beds are very comfy and every bedroom has a TV. The floors in the house are wood-look tile, which is beautiful and practical. The location is great: a block from Lido beach and about 3 blocks from St.Armand's circle, where there's plenty of shops and restaurants. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking and eating-in. There is a gas grill but we didn't use it. What we enjoyed the most was the pool, which is made for lounging and is surrounded by plush landscaping.

I brought my small dog and discovered there's a nice dog walking area at the east end of the street.

Emma was very responsive to any concerns we had. The house matched the listing description and most everything was in good working order (cable TV in master bedroom wouldn't connect) and well maintained. The house was clean when we arrived. I would love to stay here again.

Close To Everything but Nice and Private too!

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I stayed for an extra long weekend when we just needed a little down time and a get-away from the Hubbies and Kiddos. This place was just perfect. The bunk room actually worked out quite well - we had 4 ladies sharing the room but it is a large room and we never felt like we were tripping over each other. It was actually kind of fun - like a big slumber party!

We didn't really eat in much except for breakfast but there was everything we needed provided in the kitchen.

We walked to St Armand's most nights for dinner and it was only about a 10 minute walk (which actually felt great after a bid meal!) We shopped in Sarasota a couple of times and it's only about 15 minute drive. The beach was great too. Not crowded at all. We didn't have too much sun but that's okay. It was nice and warm. We LOVED the hot tub at night.

We made lots of memories and really enjoyed ourselves. Thanks for sharing your little piece of paradise with us!!!!

Adorable Beach House - We all LOVED it!

  • 5 of 5

This spot is perfect. The house is so cute and we loved having the guest house so the grandparents got to have a little bit of privacy (and got to sleep in!) and the kids though the bunk room was fantastic!

The beach is just down the street but to be honest, we hung out by the pool for most of or stay. When we did hit the beach it was great to have all the beach gear in the garage waiting for us - beach towels, chairs, umbrella and even a cart to take it there.

Emma was super helpful - thanks for suggesting "SHORE" for dinner - it was AMAZING and so great that we could walk there and back.

We are alreay talking about dates for next year!!!

Could NOT have asked for better!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Lazy Days Beach House for 4th of July. Upon arrival, we found it to be beautifully decorated and perfectly accomodating for our stay. Long days in the pool, sunsets on the beach, and fireworks from an empty lot at the end of the road made for a stress free and perfect vacation getaway! Thank you so much for providing such great accomodations!

Renter Beware

  • 1 of 5

I am perplexed by the five star reviews. I feel it is my duty to reveal the full unvarnished truth to forewarn others.

These are just a few of the issues:

1. The air vents were filthy, caked with dirt and looking like they had not been cleaned in 2 years.

2. The small patch of grass in front of the house had grass and weeds growing over a foot high.

3. Given such obvious maintenance issues, it is not surprising that the pool, instead of the promised 82oF, was cold.

The instructions stated: “Pool heater- please call us- please do not attempt to fix it yourself. Any heater that has been tampered with will incur an automatic $250 fine charged directly to the renters’ credit card.”

We called the property manager Emma, who stated that she would send the pool service out the next day. It took 2 visits and 2 days of cold pool water before the pool finally felt warm.

Imagine our surprise when we received an e-mail from Emma who forwarded the $100 service bill from Aaron’s Elite Pool Service, who had e-mailed Emma stating that the heater was working fine and who added: “I have also attached the invoice so you can forward to your tenant as I assume they will be paying for the service call?” From the phrasing, it seems that this is not a first time Aaron’s Elite Pool Service and Emma tried to pass the cost on to the tenant.

Hence, if the pool is cold, you have a choice of: 1. Not using the pool, 2. Swimming in a cold pool despite being promised a 82oF pool, 3. Paying $100 for a service call, or 4. Paying $250 for fixing it yourself. The entire experience left us feeling scammed.

4. There was no garage door opener nor did the code for the garage work so we never got to make use of anything that was reportedly in the garage.

5. The listed washing machine, clothes dryer, iron and board were non-existent unless they were in the garage.

6. We found insects and lizards in the guesthouse.

7. Several hundred dollars a night gets you 2 tiny single use soaps and a partial roll of toilet paper per bathroom. It will not get you any shampoo or any extra rolls of toilet paper. Be prepared to go to a drugstore for them.

8. Despite paying a hefty cleaning fee, you will be asked to strip the beds and collect all the used towels for them. I am not sure what this fee is for as there were wilted flowers on the table from the previous tenant when we arrived.

I could easily go on.

Would I stay here again? Absolutely not.

Owner's Response: I would like to start off by saying that I own/ manage 20 vacation rental properties and have never had a review other than 5 star and would gladly reference all VRBO listings for any future traveler upon request. Here is my side of the story: The first call I received was before they had entered the house because they had forgotten to bring the key code. An hour later, she called because she said the water from the shower wasn't draining fast enough - send a plumber. No problem - I had one sent out and the drain snaked. Didn't find much of an issue but no biggie, I'll pay the $120 as long as the guests are happy. The issue with the pool needs to be explained. First of all, it is Florida, mid September. The Gulf of Mexico is 87 degrees. It is virtually impossible for the pool to be below 82. We actually have to cool the water down a lot of the time. We had a week of crummy weather and it was overcast and raining for much of their stay. I do understand that this is not optimal weather for a vacation but the weather is something out of my control. Pool temp is noted on the heater and the heater was set at 83. I tried to explain this to her but she insisted that I call the pool company right away. They went the next day and found nothing wrong the with the heater and double checked by manually taking the temp of the pool with a thermometer. They charge a $100 service fee to send a technician out on this service call. She referenced the book about tampering with the heater. It also states that if a guest requests a service call for something that isn't broken it is their responsibility to pay for it. I sent her an email asking for her consideration regarding the bill - not a demand to pay but rather a "let's figure this out together" to which I got no response until this review. Much of the rest of the review is blatant lies We've had over 30 guests and all of them were able to access the garage with the code (also in the book). There are a ton of beach and pool items in there for guests use. There is also a washer, dryer in the garage. Ironing board in the closet of the master. Of all the times Helen called me she never once mentioned not being able to access the garage It's obvious by her tone that she is annoyed about the pool bill and felt it necessary to lie to try to make me/the house look bad on a public forum instead of talking to me which is truly unfortunate as we could have discussed as adults and come to an amicable resolution.

Just a brier and scenic drive west of Sarasota and home to one of Florida's most pristine beaches, Lido Key is known for its eco-tourism and sunset cruises. It's the place to go for deep sea fishing, dolphin watching and sailing. Fine and full-featured resorts welcome you to Lido Key, as do smaller hotels and time-share properties. The seafood is as fresh as it can be, and the sunsets are unbeatable. Also located on Lido is St. Armands Circle, a gentrified center of chic boutiques, fine dining establishments and snack bars.
