About the property

5th floor 2 Bedroom, 2 bathroom with a direct view of the Gulf of Mexico

To our many past guests at By the Sea, the view is even better now; we have a beach! You will feel at home in this well-appointed condo. Each bedroom has a queen-sized bed. The sofa opens to a full-sized bed. The north bedroom is en suite, with a full bathroom with tub & shower combination. The south bedroom has sliding glass doors that open to the 24-foot balcony, directly looking out on the Gulf of Mexico. The second bathroom is also a full bathroom with a tub & shower combination. You can see spectacular sunrises from the front/south balcony and gorgeous sunsets from the back/north balcony. The remodeled kitchen has more storage and working space than many of the units in this building. Appliances include full-sized fridge, electric oven and four-burner stove, microwave oven, and full-sized dishwasher. We try to provide everything we would want to use: cookware, bakeware, placesettings and utensils for 6, a blender, toaster, coffeemaker, corkscrew & bottle opener. There is glassware for indoor use, and plasticware for use at the pool. There will be clean linens on your beds upon arrival, and plenty of towels, including pool/beach towels. In addition to the outdoor swimming pool, there is a tennis court on the grounds, and a gas BBQ grill by the pool. There is a card room on the first floor, where there is always a pot of coffee going, and you can read the day's newspaper. There is also a laundry room with 6 washers and 6 dryers that are card (debit or credit) operated; no more running to get quarters! There is someone at the front desk 24/7 to keep an eye on things. We met in upstate New York (BRRR!!!) 35 years ago and gradually made our way south. We moved to the Houston area 19 years ago and are very happy to now live in sunny southeast Texas. Our two children are also glad to be here and have the privilege of spending time on wonderful Galveston Island!

The view, the view, the view! Plus for some hurricane protection, we wanted steel & concrete on the seawall, and not far from the 'action!' This is our second unit in the same building. We bought our first unit in 2007, and it is where we plan to retire. After 10 years, we still believe this is an awesome location with a view that is hard to beat! We are very excited that the beach has been rebuilt on this part of the island. There is a set of stairs directly across from the building that take us right down to the beach; it's so convenient!

What makes this condo unique

You will fall in love with the view from the moment you step into the unit! When you are not down on the beach, which you can access directly across the street, you will want to spend as much time as possible on the 24-foot balcony people watching, dolphin watching, or just relaxing with a cool drink, listening to the crashing waves. If you get tired of watching the waves, watch the cable TV with a Roku that provides Pandora and thousands of movies and TV series. If you can't totally disconnect, the unit has high-speed wireless internet with a secure login.

Estrogen weekend

Our favorite place in Galveston. My 80+ year old mother, sister and I come to Galveston yearly to spend a weekend. This has been our favorite spot. It was clean and well equipped. The beds were comfortable and furnishings tasteful. We plan to return.

Comfortable condo with friendly staff

Although during our visit the property was undergoing some "winter maintenance" and only 1 elevator was working, the property was clean, quiet and accessible. Each staff person we spoke to was friendly and helpful. The condo itself was clean and comfortable. The balcony was picturesque; the beds were satisfactory, the kitchen was small but adequate. The owner seems very thoughtful, including a binder full of ideas of near by activities and restaurants.

We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this property as a great option!

Lots of renovations going on at By The Sea overall. Seawall Blvd is busy! It was cold and windy on the days we were there, but we still enjoyed our stay! Thank You!!
