About Matthew Gross

We have traveled all over the world since we met online and married in 2007.

Our blended family consists of five children, ages 20 to 29, one son-in-law, and a beautiful baby grand-daughter! We live and work in Atlanta, but we love to spend our weekends and most holidays in Cherry Log Mountain.

Matthew Gross purchased this cabin in 2007

Why Matthew Gross chose Northwest High Country

In our travels, we often looked for possible retirement destinations but we always came back convinced that the North Georgia Mountains was the ideal location for us. Nothing beats this area when it comes to mild weather, outdoor activities, fine dining and shopping, and the relative proximity to the big city and our children. In particular we love Cherry Log Mountain because it is a cabin-only development crisscrossed by one of the South's most famous hiking trails, the Benton MacKaye Trail.

Come and experience the area for yourself and we are sure you will agree there is no place like Blue Ridge and Cherry Log Mountain!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a great time. Took the kids on the train out of Blue Ridge. Great day, saw some deer this morning and met some nice neighbors!

I loved the cabin! Had a bit of a time finding it once we got on the mountain road! Matthew guided !

Everything was great! Loved the porch chairs which is where we spent most of our time. The cabin was well stocked with kitchen utensils and linens as promised. My only complaints would be , there were no instructions for the tv and DVD player. But I called Matthew who responded promptly. We determined something was wrong with the DVD player. Which was a bummer the last night of our stay as a storm was moving through and the sat signal went on and off for hours! I had brought DVDs! The cleaning crew had not cleaned cobwebs in sometime! And the path to the fire pit needed to be weed whacked! Just want to be honest!!!

This place is a bargain!

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful little, but roomy cabin, with all the comforts of home! Nicely furnished with comfortable beds . Surrounded by beautiful natural forest, with plenty of wldlife. We had deer right up near the cabin, with varities of birds ( including a busy pileated wood pecker) all around us. If you want to grill out while you are there , there is only an outside gas griddle( you will need to go get the tank filled) but there is a nice little fire pit just below the cabin deck for roasting hotdogs 😊? All in all, this is one of the nicest cabins we had the pleasure of staying in. Thankyou Mr Gross

Wonderful cabin in the woods!

  • 5 of 5

Loved the cabin! So gorgeous! My husband and I enjoyed the walks up the mountain and sitting by the stream- it was so peaceful! The cabin had everything we needed- blender, coffeepot, pots and pans. They even had satellite, which was really nice! The lights went out one night and the owner called to check on us and he was so helpful and called the utility company and the power was back on in no time! We definitely recommend staying here!

Great Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

The property was as advertised. We enjoyed our stay while Hurricane Irma targeted our area in Punta Gorda, FL. We got a little wind, rain and lost power for a few hours at the cabin, but that was much better than the power outage at home. The cabin was very comfortable and met all our requirements and expectations. It is at the "end of the trail" - Trails End. The approach to the cabin was a little steep, but Honda van did not have any trouble coming or going until we loaded it up to leave, I had to make three attempts to before we finally made up the incline and on the road. Your GPS probably will not get you directly to cabin, we manage to find it with a little research once we had the address. The hosts are very accommodating and are quick to reply to any inquiry you may have.
