About Matthew Gross

We have traveled all over the world since we met online and married in 2007.

Our blended family consists of five children, ages 20 to 29, one son-in-law, and a beautiful baby grand-daughter! We live and work in Atlanta, but we love to spend our weekends and most holidays in Cherry Log Mountain.

Matthew Gross purchased this cabin in 2007

Why Matthew Gross chose Northwest High Country

In our travels, we often looked for possible retirement destinations but we always came back convinced that the North Georgia Mountains was the ideal location for us. Nothing beats this area when it comes to mild weather, outdoor activities, fine dining and shopping, and the relative proximity to the big city and our children. In particular we love Cherry Log Mountain because it is a cabin-only development crisscrossed by one of the South's most famous hiking trails, the Benton MacKaye Trail.

Come and experience the area for yourself and we are sure you will agree there is no place like Blue Ridge and Cherry Log Mountain!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a great time. Took the kids on the train out of Blue Ridge. Great day, saw some deer this morning and met some nice neighbors!

Our family loved our stay at "Trails End"! This cabin was perfect for our family of 4 and even more perfect because we could bring our dogs along!

Perfect Anniversary Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and our four legged "daughter" loved the cabin! Its the perfect secluded little hideaway. The cabin has everything we needed for cooking, ect. Our pup had an upset tummy on our drive to the cabin, and we very gratefully found the cabin to have laundry detergent to wash her bedding (something we hadn't thought to pack)! It was very much appreciated. We'll definitely be booking again for our next stay in Blue Ridge!

Trail's End - Great Value

  • 5 of 5

Really nice, well kept cabin. Very quiet location that is close to both Ellijay and Blue Ridge. Will consider again in the future . Very reasonably priced.

Several minor things of note: It is a little light on cooking utensils, no pizza pan or cutter and a very limited number of bowls for cooking use, and so forth.

A maintenance issue in the bathroom; some people are apparently leaving the shower curtain outside of the tub, there is no inner liner, and water is accumulating at the base of the tub on the trim piece at the bottom. If you are facing the tub, the bottom right hand corner is displaying signs of moisture and possible mold. Long term you are going to damage the floor and subfloor if this is not addressed. Thought you might want to know this so you can prevent a major problem at some point in the future. Additionally, the exhaust fan is not moving enough cfm to prevent condensation on the ceiling during a shower, you probably need to replace with a 120-150 cfm unit and a louver in the door to help prevent long term damage. This is just an old contractor and engineer looking at things with that eye, can't help it. The cabin appears very solid and well built. Both of these items have nothing to do with the charm and value in renting this cabin. Nicely done. My wife and I are considering building a tiny home on some land as a second home and are looking at using this cabin as a partial model for that home.

Owner's Response: Thanks for staying with us and we are glad you enjoyed your stay. We are always happy to have suggestions for improvements by our guest and will look to add some additional cooking implements to the kitchen. As thank you for the suggestions regarding the bathroom, one of the improvements on our schedule is tiling the bathroom floor in the near future. Also we will look at adding a better vent fan. Thanks again and we hope you do become one of our many repeat guests.

Trip with 2 teenage girls!

  • 4 of 5

Cabin was just the right size for the three of us. Beautiful surroundings. Great place for morning walks. Not too far from town but far enough to get away.

We flew in so I was not prepared for an empty kitchen. Plenty of cooking items but no spices/staples. Wal-mart is close ....

Parking would be an issue if you have more than 1 vehicle.... Cabin is perfect size for 1 couple or a small family.

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying with us, we are glad you enjoyed your stay! We are always looking to make improvements and welcome any feedback we receive. We do provide a 'starter' set of coffee, tea and hot chocolate to get you going on your first morning and will look at adding some additional spices for our guests. Thanks again and we hope you consider us for a future stay!

Relaxing

  • 4 of 5

Very clean, secluded and very enjoyable. The only issues we had was that the driveway was at an angle and Nearly got my vehicle stuck a few times and I drive a truck. Secondly we purchased food to cook on the grill and the grill would not start. Minus those two things it was a great place to stay.

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying with us. We have had a lot of rain as of late which is causing the gravel to loosen up in the driveway. As far as the grill, in our experience the built in ignitors don't always work so we provide matches so you can light the grill. As always if you have any questions we welcome a phone call or email and we will address them quickly. We hope you will consider staying with us again in the future!

Relaxing time at Trail's End

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was so relaxing. Lots of amenities and prominently displayed suggestions on enjoying the area. We did not catch any fish in the nearby ponds, but it was fun trying. Loved it..
