About Matthew Gross

We have traveled all over the world since we met online and married in 2007.

Our blended family consists of five children, ages 20 to 29, one son-in-law, and a beautiful baby grand-daughter! We live and work in Atlanta, but we love to spend our weekends and most holidays in Cherry Log Mountain.

Matthew Gross purchased this cabin in 2007

Why Matthew Gross chose Blue Ridge

In our travels, we often looked for possible retirement destinations but we always came back convinced that the North Georgia Mountains was the ideal location for us. Nothing beats this area when it comes to mild weather, outdoor activities, fine dining and shopping, and the relative proximity to the big city and our children. In particular we love Cherry Log Mountain because it is a cabin-only development crisscrossed by one of the South's most famous hiking trails, the Benton MacKaye Trail.

Come and experience the area for yourself and we are sure you will agree there is no place like Blue Ridge and Cherry Log Mountain!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a great time. Took the kids on the train out of Blue Ridge. Great day, saw some deer this morning and met some nice neighbors!

The cabin is gorgeous and cozy!!! We just had a couple of issues with the towels and the lack of a shower curtain liner but we would highly recommend this cabin to anyone!!!

Quiet cabin in the woods.

  • 4 of 5

I enjoyed my stay at the Trail's End cabin. The cabin was well laid out, with the majority of space in the kitchen, dining, and living areas. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen fairly stocked, the fireplace worked well, and both porches provided a great spot to sit and relax. I especially liked that the porch outside the front door was completely enclosed, so I didn't have to worry about my dogs escaping every time I opened the door. I also liked how the cabin was decorated for Christmas, although the smell of cinnamon was so overpowering when I first entered the cabin it gave me a headache. Once I finally found the source, I was able to remove it outside until I left for home.

I thought the cabin was not as clean as one would expect, considering we pay for a cleaning service. There were cobwebs in the windows and dust and animal fur under the couches and beds. Lastly, if you are planning on using the fireplace during the colder months, make sure to bring cash with you! There was one bundle of firewood in the fireplace which was included, but any other firewood was $4 a bundle. This should be something that is included on the cabin's page, as I did not bring cash with me and barely found $4 in change to cover a second bundle. This was disappointing, as I would have used more if I had known. Overall, I would stay at Trail's End again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the reply we are happy you enjoyed your stay with us and hope you consider us for a future visit! We are sorry you found that the cabin had some cobwebs, we will address this with our cleaners. In regards to the firewood, we provide an initial supply for one night. And as a convenience we also offer additional firewood for sale at our cost. This information was available to you when you made a reservation with us through the email link you received. You are always welcome to purchase your own additional firewood at one of the local retailers.
