About Mike Elder

I was an owner of a Contemporary art gallery for 8 years in Charleston so the house is full of contemporary art, enjoy! I currently live downtown close to the house.

Mike Elder purchased this house in 2014

Why Mike Elder chose Charleston Area

I'm originally from New York but fell in love with Charleston over ten years ago and didn't leave. The East Side is one of the most interesting areas of the city in my opinion, close to everything while still not being fully gentrified.

What makes this house unique

Able to walk to all of Charleston's popular destinations downtown and on Upper King, while also having easy access to the area housing the newly-renovated Cigar Factory make the East Side the place to be for urban, engaged people.

Great place for two!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here with our chocolate lab for our first wedding anniversary and we loved it! The house was so SPOTLESS when we arrived and had everything we needed, including a full Brita! Seriously, amazing. I would stay here again and definitely recommend it to a couple!

The property was perfect with the owner supplying many extra touches!

The supplied welcome package was a wealth of information! Cottage very clean and comfortable. Although located in newly designated historic district, still a drive's distance to the heart of things. Surrounding neighborhoods hopefully have a bright future.

Great Charleston Location

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time in Charleston.

The owner Mike was very helpful, with great recommendations for places to see and places to eat. He provides a welcome guide which gives loads of information, much of which we made use of.

We stayed in Unit B. There is a kitchen and living room downstairs, and bedroom and bathroom upstairs. It had everything we needed. The kitchen is sufficiently stocked, the living room is comfortable for watching a little TV at the end of the day, and the upstairs bedroom and bathroom are very comfortable. As others have pointed out, the stairs are a bit steep. We had no problems, but those that struggle with stairs might struggle with these.

We loved the location of the unit. We walked everywhere we wanted to go. We parked the car in the provided off street parking spot on arrival, and never got back in it. The neighborhood is a mix of houses ranging from completely renovated, to houses being renovated, to houses needing work (to put it kindly). Most of Charleston is like that, which for us, added to the character of the city.

Interesting neighbourhood. 3 1/2 ***

  • 3 of 5

We had a good time in Charleston and enjoyed our stay at 70 Nassau St.

A few hints would have made our stay better....

1. Hard copy telling visitor of closest grocery store( plus the fact that one can buy many foods at the pharmacies)

2.. A few hints for visitors...where the Visitors bureau is etc.

3. A few more cooking basics

4. A working husband fixed the blender the first morning....then every morning we were there.....May need a new one!!

** We enjoyed the house and helpful husband's back went out so we may return to complete out agenda!! Ha
