Modern 4-bedroom Cape, 100' lakefront with 30' dock.
A boat is needed to get to this unique island house on Lake Winnipesaukee.
Nestled on the south-western side of Rattlesnake Island is this modern four bedroom Cape. The house features 1700 sq ft of living space and hardwood floors throughout.
The first floor has two bedrooms, each with a queen-size bed and private balcony. On the third floor are two additional bedrooms; one with standard twin beds that can be configured as a king if preferred, the other with a daybed with a pop-up trundle. The upstairs bedrooms overlook the living room.
The open plan of the second floor affords everyone their own space, while allowing them to be together at the same time. The living room furniture is soft and inviting. The separate dining room is spacious and bright. There are four sliding glass doors that lead from the living room to the wrap-around deck, maximizing as much of the lakefront views as possible. The deck has a full-size outdoor dining table with umbrella, or take advantage of the screened-in porch instead.
The fully-equipped galley kitchen has a full-size refrigerator, electric oven and stove, and dishwasher. Together with the gas grill on the deck, you'll have all the tools you need for cooking.
At the lake level, enjoy diving and swimming from the aluminum dock where the water depth is 30 feet. Sunbathe on the dock, or relax with a book on the shaded lakeside deck.
Please be aware that this home is situated on the side of a steep incline. There are 50 steps from the dock to the house, and the lake is 30' deep at its shore. For this reason, the house may not be suitable for people who have difficulty with stairs or have small children. Also, please note that there is no wifi or internet connection at the house. Both AT&T and Verizon work well - if you need to connect to the internet, please intend to use your personal data plan.
The house is on a non-bridged island, so it is necessary for you to bring a boat to be used for all transportation.

Why Beth Doehner chose Alton
In the summer of 2014, we spent a week in a rented home on a near-by island in Lake Winnipesaukee. While we had been renting lakeside properties for years, this location was exceptional. We loved the clear, fresh water of the lake, the serenity that came with being on an island, and the variety of things to do that were boat-accessible when we wanted a break from the island. The location was so exceptional that we decided we needed to find a an island place of our own! We called a realtor and fell in love with this house on our last day of vacation. The rest, as they say, is history.

You will feel right at home in this lovely lake retreat
Beautifully decorated. Clean and uncluttered. The house feels spacious. Plenty of room for three couples, plus a few kids, yet lots of nooks to get away and go read - my favorite was sitting in the adirondacks on the dock, listening to the boats and waves. Screened in porch is a good spot as well and the deck is shaded and a great place to grill out. We found everything we needed in the kitchen, including a big pot for corn. Beth is fantastic to work with. Lovely spot. Easy boat rides to Wolfeboro, Winter Harbor, Alton Bay and the Weirs.
Lovely setting, house we'll appointed on a quiet part of the lake. Owners very good communicators.
Great week at the lake! Swimming, loons, hiking, boat rides, and relaxing on the dock.
The house is as described and is perched on a steep hill, resulting in a view of a relatively quiet part of the lake and great sunsets.
Owners very informative and easy to work with.
Nice house, nice location
Nice property, great deck overlooking the lake. House was not clean and just in need of a great vacuum . A spider for every nook and cranny. Wonder what they do with the $150 you get charged. Also, bringing your own bed linens is a hassle and not mentioned until after you have paid up.
Overall a great spot.
Fantastic time and very helpful owner!
We wanted to do something different this year for vacation so decided to try an 'island' vacation with the family. The experience was very easy and enjoyable from the start. Beth provided several emails with great info leading up to the vacation and was as helpful during or week stay as I texted her several times asking for recommendations for dining and places to go. The house was great! Very comfortable and great taste in decorating. The boys (me included) loved the dock as we spent much time fishing and diving into the deep, clear water. I would definitely recommend this property! I cant wait until next summer... Going for two weeks instead of one!
Wonderful vacation property on Lake Winni!
My husband, two daughters and friends recently stayed at this property for two weeks and LOVED it! Beth was so incredibly helpful, quick to respond, offer advice, and went above and beyond to make sure we were all comfortable and taken care of. The property itself was well-appointed, beautifully decorated, clean and the location was superb. I would highly recommend this property to anyone!
Peaceful and relaxing
We had a lovely week at this charming "treehouse" on the island. I was hesitant to book it because it was a new listing and didn't have any reviews, but it paid off! Beth is wonderful to work with and truly cares that you have a great vacation. She checked in the right amount to make sure everything was okay without being obtrusive. The house is located in the perfect spot; quick access from the marina, short boat ride to Wolfboro, and a bit sheltered. John at the marina was a pleasure to deal with and made boat launching and car parking hassle-free. The house is well decorated and was plenty comfortable for the 4 of us. While my calves enjoyed the workout climbing the steps, the listing clearly states that this would not be the ideal spot for the elderly or small children. We had planned to eat out often, but with the view from the deck, decided to stay home for many of our meals. When we did go out, we enjoyed eating at Garwoods for dinner and the diner for breakfast. Both places are in Wolfboro. We spent every day but one (rain) hanging out on the dock reading, fishing, swimming, and relaxing. If you do stay here you MUST go hiking. It could be a little challenging getting from the back of the house to the trail, but it is worth it as the vistas are absolutely breathtaking. Overall, it was a very relaxing and peaceful vacation and we would highly recommend renting this house!
The property is located on a non-bridged island, so bringing your own boat is necessary. Lake Winnipesaukee and the towns surrounding the lake offer many options for dining and recreation accessible by boat. Towns such as Wolfeboro, Alton, Meredith, and Laconia provide public tie-ups for easy accessibility to the area's dining and attractions.
