A very unpleasant experience. Water cut off daily by 4pm. Owner just wanted to evict us..
On day of arrival there was no running water at apartment till 4.30pm. Problem persisted and after 3 nights we asked owner for a refund so we could move. We paid the rental fee directly to Homeaway (HA). They in turn paid the owner minus their fee. Owner offered a very small amount to fund our remaining 13 nights. We refused and she increased it slightly. Again we refused so contacted HA. They spoke to owner and she agreed to increase her offer and it was up to her to return monies to us direct. She told site manager we were leaving in the next hour but had not returned any money. HA offered alternative accomodation but we were not happy with them so we reluctantly declined. We were placed in a catch 22 situation. HA put us up in a hotel for the night which we appreciated. We returned following day. As the water continued to be cut off by 4pm we again contacted HA. They offered an alternative apartment which we had to pay for upfront. They said they would compensate us for the difference in cost but we had to complete a claim form. We had to decline as we could not afford to pay for it. Also not once did the owner ask for our bank details to return monies. At this stage she accused us of refusing to leave her apartment and threatened to call the police. We were disgusted and stressed about the situation. No recompense was ever offered.
After further investigation by myself i found out from the Spanish water authority that the water supply system is old and does not have sufficient water supplies for the site. It desperately needs to be upgraded. Future renters need to be told of this continuing problem which will get worse as the hot dry weather continues.
It would be helpful if HA changed their policy to provide alternative accomodation without the need for renters to complete a claim form. They should also help renters in difficult situations by liaising with owners to get money returned directly to HA. It has not been a good experience.
I am disappointed that your holiday was tainted due to issues outside of my control and as stated many times during your stay I am very sorry this happened.
For clarity the water outages were across the whole Mijas Golf area and impacted everyone not just my apartment. There were periods (couple of hours at most) where the water was not available. Whenever this occurred and I had been notified myself or Mano (onsite manager) kept you informed. We also contacted local council and authorities regularly in an attempt to keep you informed.
You advised me you were leaving the property and I happily agreed to refund 100% of the remaining days of your stay which HA advised you and asked you to send me your bank details as I agreed I would transfer the money immediately. I agreed with you that the best outcome for both parties was for you to leave as the situation was becoming stressful for all concerned. Especially as this was a situation outside my immediate control. However you then decided to stay and refused to leave despite being offered alternatives by HA and without agreeing with myself it was okay to stay. I feel that myself and Mano did all that we could during your stay. I know you requested a full refund of all the money you paid and wanted additional compensation from me plus free nights accommodation however this was not reasonable. You were not without water during your entire stay. Yes there were short periods (not every day) where the water was unavailable and I am sorry again this happened it was out of my control. As Mano and I did with you at the time any future guests will be notified as soon as we are aware of any outages. And in case of emergency there is in the cupboard on the patio plastic canisters of water that could be used. Thank you.
A great time was had
Ideal location with great views. Apartment was clean and had everything we needed. I can recommend the local restaurant (2mins walk) a car is a must. Jann was very helpful and replyed quickly. The only negative that I found was the sun beds on the terrace were in need of replacement however there were plenty available at the pool.
We (family of 3) had a very pleasant stay at the apartment. Everything was perfect!!
Place has everything that you would need on holiday and the air conditioning was a lifesaver :):)

The only problems were just unfortunate things that happen from time to time anywhere. Wi-fi would be a good addition as would a few more t v channels.
Lovely chilled place and so many nice people there will definitely book to go again just like pictures
