Cute Place, but . . . . .

  • 3 of 5

Overall, we had a good time and the place was nice and quiet.

The photo that shows the “front side of the cabin facing the lake” is inaccurate. There was only one rusty metal chair and a worn-out chiminea, so bring your own chairs and fire wood. The small fireplace inside the cabin worked well and is propane gas, not infrared. The TV in the living room is a vintage flat screen, so be prepared for a substandard picture. There must have been a heater in the storage room which shares a wall with the bedroom, because we constantly heard a fan kick on/off during the night.

Robins Roost sits six feet away from a second cabin (Uncle Fuzzy’s) which I did not know it could be rented separately and/or simultaneously. Some stairs and the waterfront sitting area are shared with Uncle Fuzzy’s cabin. Was told (rental rules) the dock was off limits and we would be fined and charged with trespassing if used (they should remove the photos from the listing). The (2) cheap ice trays didn’t cut it and I recommend bringing a bag of ice. We did not appreciate the owner (Ted) showing up in the middle of the day to “get something” out of the cabin’s storage. Two men were with him and helped themselves to rearrange and sit in the chairs we brought from home, somewhat rude all around.

Owner's Response: We are always glad when our renters take the time to let us know their thoughts and experiences with one of our homes. It give us the opportunity to improve things we didn't know about and we sincerely appreciate that! This cabin DOES face the water, so I'm not certain I have understood that question??...the glass french doors open to the porch's deck and when you are standing on the deck/porch you are staring right at the water. (and can see Uncle Fuzzy's Deck and stairs in the picture just 10 feet away on the left). We do state that this cabin, along with Uncle Fuzzy's and Moonshine Manor, are all rented "TOGETHER" during the summer, but SEPARATELY during the fall and winter, and are located on ONE piece of property. We will do our best to make it clearer, that this DOES mean each home might be rented out at the same time, to different people, during the fall and winter. The fire pit is right out in front of this cabin (between the cabin and the lake) but the outdoor furniture around the fire pit did get really worn this past summer and the owner is working on upgrading and adding to what is available for the guests to use. Although the Television is not an "HD" TV, is IS a flat screen, so it is not really what one might consider "vintage"?? The owners provide satellite service, (Direct TV or Dish Network) so the reception quality is as good as satellite gets which is amongst the best reception we can get at the lake - (cable TV is not available in our area.). Ice cube trays are being replaced and added to, as we speak...but if you like a lot of ice, a bag may be just the answer for your stay. I am enormously sorry for any miscommunication regarding using the owner's dock. It IS Available to the renters during their stay and they are more than welcome to use it for fishing, swimming from, or just sitting and relaxing. We do have our guests sign a document that you are not "Paying" for the dock, and that is simply because we do not rent out docks (we do not have a marina's license, which is what you need to rent out a dock on Beaver Lake). We do make sure our guests know that each dock is privately owned, so you want to make certain you do not go on anyone else's dock as that would be trespassing, but as there are very few docks in the area of this one, and these owners' dock is RIGHT OUT in front of the cabin, we have never had an issue of a guest accidentally going on any neighbors' dock.

Great stay!!

  • 5 of 5

Everything was clean and just as it showed online. It was very peaceful and we enjoyed setting on the dock and on the deck, we also had a fire in the fire pit two nights and sat out and watched the sun set. We would definitely stay again. I would suggest over the door hangers as there is no place to hang clothes. Ted and Robin were there the first night and it was nice to meet them, they are a very sweet couple. Thanks for a great relaxing stay.

Loved it

  • 5 of 5

The property was cozy and private. The pictures shown are a true representation of what you will get. Not many pans available other than one small frying pan, one small sauce pan, and a large pot with a lid. If your planning any additional cooking you may want to bring your own. Plenty of silverware, cooking utensils, plates, and glasses. No dishwasher which is fine, but couldn't find a drain stopper so it was a little difficult to do dishes. The bed was very comfortable and we slept like rocks. We would definitely go back to this property again!

Very relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We had the most relaxing time. The lake was beautiful. We saw some deer going to the lake for water. Going for a walk in the woods right up from the lake was serene. The cabin was very comfortable and I loved the way it was decorated.
