What a pretty cottage in a fabulous location! We spent a long weekend at Beach Hill Cottage and had a really relaxing time.
The only downside is the cottage could do with a good clean especially in the kitchen.
We enjoyed our stay at beech hill.
I would advise careful consideration re space ! I stayed with my teen age daughter and it was very cozy.
Beach Hill Cottage was a cosy cottage to stay in very convenient for coastal path walks - which we enjoyed. The overall stay was good as the location of the cottage meant we could get to other areas within a short time.
The only real downside was the delivery and waste vehicles coming and going in the mornings. The cottage was clean and very well equipped although a little down trodden in the actual decor.
Quaint little cottage in a superb location
A truly quaint little cottage; perfect for 2 adults; in a stunning location. All the locals were very welcoming, especially at The Ship. Parking was the main issue with The Lugger Hotel staff using the few spaces outside the cottage as theirs, despite an empty hotel car park. Also hotel bins are put out the night before which spoils the views and blocks the visitor benches (dedicated to deceased locals - very disrespectful) on the road side. The hotel staff were not very nice people to try talking to about issues.
lovely cottages, but rather for a party of three or a family with children
We enjoyed our stay in Beach Hill Cottage. Had some issues on our arrival, but the broken devices were replaced as soon as possible.
Cottages is small. We were 3 adults and could manage, but with a 4th it might have been a little too small.
comfy quaint cottage
The cottage is in a wonderful location....The roads getting into the village are very narrow and may worry an inexperienced driver.
Portloe is considered by many to be the jewel in the crown of the Roseland peninsula and one of the prettiest villages in Cornwall. Its steep sided valleys has meant that it has managed to escape development over the years and many buildings differ little from when they were built. Sir John Betjeman said of Portloe "One of the least spoiled and most impressive of Cornish fishing villages". Portloe is an ideal place to stay on the Roseland Peninsula.
It is wonderfully quiet and peaceful, yet it has a really good local pub & hotel. The village itself is only a short drive from the other villages such as St Mawes. The city of Truro is also within a 25 minute drive. The Lugger Hotel with its excellent restaurant is only a few steps away and the Ship Inn is a short walk. The New Inn at Veryan serves food. There is also the Portloe Tea Room nearby. There is no general store in Portloe, however there are shops at Veryan (1.4 miles) and a Londis store at Bessy Beneath (3 miles). Further pubs, shops & restaurants are also available in Tregony, Ruan Lanihorne, Portscatho & St Mawes.
