Just a perfect stay
Lazy Hazy autumn days in heaven next to the River Fal, but close to wonderful beaches and amenities. We felt safe in Lucy's hands and adored the cakes on offer from a local cottage and farm. Altogether the PERFECT tranquil break.
The Cottage is nice and cosy, very well aquiped and we felt like at home. Also the garden is very nice.
The most beautiful cottage! Stunning location!
Beautiful cottage in a beautiful location.
The Beds were extremely comfortable, views fantastic, I absolutely loved the Roll-top bath!
Downstairs the kitchen was probably the best equipped kitchen we have ever stayed in.
A few items in the cupboard were not clean but that I may be down to the previous people staying. In the beautiful cosy living room for 4 people the sofas were too small, I appreciate it’s not the biggest room but we felt there was space for longer sofas as it’s nice to curl up in the evening.
The garden was very pretty except the great big slab of concrete where the table & chairs are seated was not particularly pretty but it’s functional. Despite the look of it we had many lovely evenings using the BBQ sitting out over looking to water & bird watching.
It would not be suitable for someone that can’t do steps or slopes as the steps up and down to car are hard work.
We purchased a hamper but was disappointed as it was full of exactly the same stuff that was given complimentary, We’ve had hampers in the past for free that have been full of amazing goodies this one was 4 lots of Tea and a packet of biscuits the same as the ones they have already given you and a small jam & honey. I don’t even drink tea and there was 4 packets of it, no coffee cake or wine included, I would say unless you adore Tea don’t waste your money on it, very disappointing. A Warning about the drive way, it’s ok if your a confident driver but it takes about 5mins from the farm to get to Bethal Cottage as it’s so long and extremely narrow and very bumpy.
Saying all that the cottage was probably the nicest place I’ve ever stayed in, you couldn’t ask for a more private location, stunning views and the people at the clubhouse where you collect your boats from are just lovely. I would highly recommend this cottage we had a lovely holiday at Bethal.
Bethel Cottage, Coombe, Cornwall
Our recent stay at Bethel Cottage was wonderful. The location iof the cottage was idyllic and we thoroughly enjoyed the tranquility of the surroundings, which are spectacularly beautiful. We spent the majority of our time at Bethel cottage in the garden, watching the tide go in and out, and wondering at the variety of birds and other wildlife. We were deighted to be visited by a stoat when eating our breakfast in the garden one morning! The cottage was equipped to a very high level. Everything we could have wanted was at hand. The only small quibble we had was that the duvets provided were winter weight (very warm and quite heavy) and we stayed during a week of unusually high temperatures. Summer weight duvets would have been cooler and more comfortable.
The cottage is close to many major tourist attractions, and those more off the beaten track. We indulged ourselves in a lunch at Purdey's at the entrance to Lower Lanner Farm - utterly sublime and would highly recommend it! We also succumbed to some baked treats from the cake 'honesty box' just along the path towards Coombe. Again, well worth it and totally delicious. We will miss our holiday at Bethel Cottage, as it was truly one of the best we have had. However, we won't miss the bone jerking journey up and down the track when driving to and fro! The track is extremely rough and this is an area which really could really be improved. That said, we would return in a heart beat and hope to do so very soon.
It was a pleasure welcoming you to Bethel and thank you for your review. Our default duvet weight is 13.5 tog however, there is also a 4.5 tog duvet for each bed stored onsite at Bethel in the wardrobe during the Summer months. We have now added a “duvet menu” when making your booking. You can now choose your preferred duvet weight - Summer 4.5 tog or Winter 13.5 tog and we will prepare your bedroom for your arrival with your chosen duvet. Thank you again for staying at Bethel and we look forward to welcoming you back again very soon.
Spent a week here with another couple. Facilities and the attention to detail is second to known. The only comment I could make is there wasn’t a tea cosy - not a deal breaker!! We had a couple of incidents that were handled with care and professionalism and were looked after and wanted for nothing. Views and location ideal for a relaxing stay but still close enough to Truro for essentials etc. Would certainly recommend.
Stunning location, excellent customer service, relaxing cottagelovely holiday, ideal for half term. Highly reccomended.
The city of Truro is only about a 10 minute drive away and has a wide selection of good shopping including a Tescos, Sainsburys, Marks & Spencer and many other high street outlets. There is also a cinema and a great selection of restaurants, pubs & cafes.
The resort of Newquay is about 16 miles to the north with its spectacular surf beaches at Fistral & Watergate Bay. Jamie Oliver's "Fifteen" restaurant is located here. Padstow, with its fine selection of restaurants influenced by Rick Stein is just over 20 miles.
The yachting centres of Mylor, Falmouth & St Mawes are all within easy reach of the cottage. There is a watersports centre at nearby Loe Beach where you can learn to sail or windsurf. The nearby Roseland Area of Outstanding Beauty with its superb coastal walks is also a short drive away via the King Harry Ferry.
The Cathedral City of Truro is in the heart of Cornwall and offers a wealth of facilities for the visitor. Dominated by the stunning cathedral, it is one of the south west's most attractive cities. Lemon Quay plays host to many events throughout the year including the Cornwall Food & Drink Festival in the Autumn and the famous Truro Fatstock Show just before Christmas. Regular farmers markets occur every Wednesdays & Saturday and there are also arts & craft markets on Saturdays. There is a wonderful range of shopping for the visitor including all the regular high street stores including Marks & Spencer, Tescos & Sainsburys, but also a wide range of more specialist stores. It really is worth a wander through the back streets and alleys to find some fabulous little boutiques. Truro has a superb range of restaurants from Bustopher Jones & Mannings on Lemon Street to the always popular Pizza Express. There are lively bars, pubs & nightclubs including the superb Old Ale House, a busy Wetherspoons and the infamous L2 if you are so inclined! The Hall for Cornwall hosts everything from Shakespeare to rock concerts and the cinema on Lemon Street has all the latest releases.
