Cottage was clean and tidy in an excellent location and everything provided so we had a great time.No need to travel far if you want a relaxing break. Beach, pub, restaurants and local shop all within walking distance. Lovely part of Cornwall. Only negative was the downstairs bathroom but no big problem.
No one mentioned the Church bells
A small cottage situated a short walk down a steep hill from the shops and facilities in Portcatho. An extension to the side of the cottage provides a new light and airy kitchen and the bathroom and shower facilities which are both small and narrow. The cottage faces a church whose clock chimes the hour throughout the day and night.
A dark small lounge area contains two sofas and a TV / DVD. The garden provides an outdoor seating area. There is a designated parking space at the rear of the cottage which is reached via a very narrow driveway.
The property was clean and tidy on our arrival although I found all the towels to be old and worn.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of our cottage, although the scores are somewhat disappointing compared to previous reviews. I have contacted our housekeeper regarding your comments about the towels as when I did my regular check of all the linen 3 weeks prior to your visit there was nothing that was 'old and worn' but I can only apologise if you feel that this was the case. Unfortunately there is nothing I can do about the church bells.
Our stay at 14 The Square couldn't have gone better. The house was immaculate, well stocked with the basics to make a comfortable stay. The location was ideal for us as we prefer to be able to walk the short distance to waterfront, shops etc. The lane at the back of the house was another find leading down to Percuil and those lovely creeks. Every where we went the scenery was stunning. The food was especially good and as my partner is an extremely good cook even he couldn't have done better. The whole region enchanted us and we will return again. We wish we lived there.
Nice cottage and good location
We enjoyed our stay at Fourteen The Square. The cottage was very comfortable and we would definitely stay again.
Lovely cottage, close to the village of Portscatho which was great location perfect for exploring the area. Great pub 50 yards away was an added bonus.
Lovely holiday in Cornwall staying at Fourteen The Square.
We had a lovely weeks stay at Fourteen The Square Gerrans. The cottage was in a good location for exploring other parts of Cornwall and was a 5 minute walk into Portscatho where there is an excellent dog friendly pub.
The cottage was spotless and very well maintained.
The enclosed garden and private parking space made all the difference.
We would recommend the area and cottage to our friends.
Portscatho and its neighbouring village of Gerrans are located on the eastern coast of the Roseland Peninsula, Cornwall, overlooking the dramatic Gerrans Bay. A truly peaceful waterside village, Portscatho is a lovely place for a holiday. There are miles of coastal and countryside footpaths to explore, particularly along St Antony's Head. Portscatho was once a busy fishing harbour, but now it has become a haven for artists due to the striking light which is particularly good in the morning sun. More than anything, Portscatho is a relaxing place. The beaches such as Porthcurnick, Towan and Porthbeor are simply idyllic and these are only minutes from the village. With a superb local butchers shop, 2 great little pubs and a well stocked local store, Portscatho and Gerrans are lovely places to spend a holiday.
