A nice location
The cottage is located in a nice place - the only drawback is that you can't sit and look out to sea if the weather is adverse. Fortunately, we had a week of wall to wall sunshine. There is no recycling option so we brought our bottles and tins back home.
Thank you for your review. The property is not advertised as having a sea view from the garden, the images clearly show this, however you are just moments from the beach. We do not provide recycling boxes, there are recycling bins in the village, just a moment walk from the property.
driftwood , porthtowan

Another Return Visit
We've stayed here several times and love the location right on the beach. The cottage is comfortable and warm just showing signs of wear and tear, nothing to serious which couldn't be sorted with a couple of days work and a few hundred pounds of investment.
All about the location !
Small but comfortable for 2 adults and 2 children . Well equipped kitchen( some chipped items need replacing). Bedrooms and bathroom small but fine for us.
Location amazing really enjoyed our stay in Porthtowan.
Ideal for the beach
Small cottage, ideal for a weeks stay by the sea. All basics provided except for hand and bath towels. Outside facilities for washing down wetsuits and boards so sand can be easily kept out of the house. Perfectly positioned for easy access to the sandy beach without needing to put on shoes. Our stay coincided with a week of non-stop sunshine and we could have used the outside area more if there had been a bit of shade. There was no garden umbrella at the time we were there. Another minor downside was that the properties next door had access through the rear garden for them to take their boards and wetsuits through to the rear of their cottages. Didn't bother us as the people staying there were considerate and only used the access route a couple of times a day, often when we were already on the beach. Couldn't get a mobile phone signal, but that was a problem for the whole area. Wifi speed excellent for our laptops. Despite these negative comments we would be quite happy to come back again another year.
Driftwood, Highly recommended.
We booked our stay at Driftwood at very short notice via Cornwall’s Cottages. We had a great holiday at this cottage which is located about 50 yards from the beach. The cottage is very well appointed, everything worked as it was supposed to. The Internet was a bit flaky but when it worked it had a reasonable speed, but I did not go on holiday to spend hours on the nett. The seating which had come in for some criticism from a previous visitor was now perfect and almost new. The boiler also had received a complaint but worked just fine without any noise. We are two retired people and so this cottage was perfect for us. The resort has everything you need for a perfect holiday, you must try out the ice cream parlour, it’s to die for but you will have to queue. The beach is very clean with soft sand also the water is very clean and the beach deserves it’s blue flag. We stayed for ten days and we had superb weather every day. I am an enthusiastic photographer, the sunsets are just out of this world with the ever-changing activates of surfers, paddle boarders, dog walkers and just life. We would book this cottage again without hesitation, have a great stay if you do. See my blog for July 2018 https://lionelcallow.blogspot.com/2018/ and you will see some of my beach sunset shots.
Occupying a dramatic valley location with one of the most spectacular and beautiful beaches of the Atlantic Coast, Porthtowan has been drawing visitors for years to take advantage of its natural sun trap. A superb location for a holiday to Cornwall with a fine beach and close to good main roads means that you can easily explore the surrounding area on days that are not conducive to sitting on the beach.
Porthtowan has one of Cornwall's finest surfing waves. Producing good waves at all states of the tide, the wave is particularly good in an easterly or south easterly when it really pumps with some lovely hollow barrels. It is not for the faint hearted and beginners should be careful. An excellent surf school operates from the beach. At low tide the beach stretches down to St Agnes Head and Chapel Porth Beach where you will find a lovely National Trust Cafe full of warming hot chocolate and fabulous views. From Porthtowan you are ideally located to reach the many beaches on the North Coast famous for attracting keen surfers and beginners alike.
