Wonderful peaceful family break
We travelled all the way from blackpool to the mealhouse and we absolutely blown away by the beauty of this house..it had everything we needed and all the finer details added to make this a real home from home it was just perfect..spotlessly clean and extremely well set out for us and the children..we would definatly book again x
Comfortable short break 'Home from Home' in a wonderful setting
Lovely space inside and out. Well equipped and comfortable. However, neither showers are quite good enough, a velux blind is needed in the upstairs bedroom and we found the fridge very small for our needs.
But, constructive feedback aside, we were all very happy and it was absolutely perfect for us joining other family in the area for an out of season weekend.
Very good accommodation
Didn’t have any curtain for roof glass. So, we couldn’t sleep properly. Other than everything is good, clean, tidy and very spacious. I recommend this.
JP & JS
Quiet and nice accomodation, Fire place a little bit to small inside, difficult to get logs in it. Nice garden, but Barbecue place was destroit.
Perfect for a family holiday
The mealhouse is a little gem in Crackington Haven.
The what we also termed as 'upside down home', we initially were not sure about when we booked, however it was a perfect configuration of living space with views over the balcony area to the idyllic Cornish countryside.
The facilities were brilliant for our party of 9 of us with 3 generations of us enjoying the home.
The kitchen area with all the utensils required for our stay and the large dining area was a beautiful area for evening family meals.
The 3 garden spaces were idea for the children to run around and place football, the only concern was the overgrown foliage with thorns blocking some of the pathway.
The BBQ area was lovely, but perhaps some equipment would be handy, we improvised nevertheless.
Overall, a beautiful home and we wish the owners all the success in their holiday home business.
Thank you for a beautiful home for our week long stay, we do intend to visit again soon.
Mealhouse is a very spacious cottage with a remote location. It has 3 bedrooms with a double and a single bed in each of them and so can easily accommodate 9 people.
Kitchen and living room is very spacious and the fire place is excellent. We enjoyed the cottage!
Just one thing to add, please take your towels with you as they are not provided in the cottage. There is a lovely 30min walk to the Crackington Haven village which has 2 cafes and kids can play on the pebble peach. Great local walks! And best place we visited was Tintagel castle some 6-8miles drive.
The farm is located one mile from Crackington Haven, which is included in the best surfing beaches in England and was recommended by the Marine Conservation Society in its Good Beach Guide.
The scenery in the beach area of the surrounding majestic cliffs is almost unrivalled. At high tide, the beach is a mass of quartz-veined pebbles and large boulders but at low tide, it reveals an expanse of sand and many rock pools. Only the road separates the sea from a couple of beach shops, two superb beach cafes and a public house with a restaurant and fantastic terrace. As you travel down the coastline, you can visit quaint coastal villages such as Boscastle, Tintagel and Port Isaac, the latter offering a range of fantastic restaurants where you can enjoy the freshest and most delicious fish.
Fifteen minutes up the coast is Bude, a popular tourist destination for both its surfing and fantastic family beaches in Widemouth Bay. The watchful eye of the RNLI lifeguards allows for some of the best surfing in the world alongside swimming and a whole host of water-based activities. Bude today is a lovely sea-side town, the main shopping streets and inter-connecting alleyways play host to a wide range of locally owned shops, restaurants and pubs. There are boutiques, shoes, arts & crafts, jewellery, hand-made gifts and souvenirs.
Six miles inland is Bodmin Moor, one of Cornwall's designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Cornwall at its wildest and rich in ancient history, Bodmin Moor stretches for 30 miles through the heart of the County of Cornwall and offers spectacular walking and horse riding. With easy access to the both the A30 and the Atlantic Highway you can quickly travel up and down the South-West to enjoy some of the larger tourist attractions that Devon and Cornwall have to offer.
