A brilliant cottage beginning to show its age
The service and housekeeping are excellent and the location can not be better. However the place is becoming to look a little dated, updating the furniture in the living room would be of benefit.
A nice place to stay, location good, comfortable, great size bedrooms.Clean and well equipped.
Very good for amenities in lovely St Mawes.
Sometimes delivery vans park in front due to locality near hotel and co-op,not a major problem, but can be annoying.
Also maybe bathroom needs updating, but overall a great experience. Thanks to owners and housekeeping for our enjoyable stay.
Good but could be better
Our stay at Manor Cottage was enjoyable but could have been so much better. Location and general layout was fine but it lacked a few refinements. In particular windows and bathroom require updating. Lounge seating was not comfortable for other than short term usage. View from kitchen window, probably outside owner's control, was quite depressing.
With improvement could be a most delightful cottage.
Wonderful Easter break in a pretty harbourside cottage
We spent a week at Manor Cottage and didn’t use the car at all. The cottage was a lovely cosy place to watch the world go by. The ferries in the harbour could take you to numerous places for great walks, National Trust properties and shopping in Falmouth. Swimming was great from a number of nearby beaches (a little cold though!). The Roseland Peninsula is a pretty and unspoilt part of Cornwall.
Family of 4 had a great week at Manor Cottage. The location is excellent, directly opposite the pier where the boats go from. The cottage was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Was very clean and welcoming. We would definitely recommend for a lovely stay in St Mawes.
Cosy cottage in a stunning location
The cottage was located in the heart of St Mawes and had stunning views from the lounge and main bedroom. The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped. The housekeeper had left us a delightful welcome card and fresh flowers.
St Mawes is one of the finest waterside villages in Cornwall. Situated overlooking an idyllic bay on the eastern side of the famous Falmouth Estuary, St Mawes has one of the mildest climates in Britain due to its proximity to the Gulf Stream. The sea is at the heart of the village and has helped to shape St Mawes from the little fishing village to the fashionable holiday destination that is so popular with visitors. A mecca for boating enthusiasts, St Mawes is a particularly popular sailing centre. Weekly club racing, village regattas and larger events are commonplace on the superb waters of the bay all through the summer.
St Mawes has so much to offer the visitor. St Mawes Castle was built by Henry VIII and is a splendid place to take in the views of the Carrick Roads. There are miles of coastal and countryside walks to take in and some idyllic beaches on which to relax and watch the world go by. The little Place ferry takes visitors to explore St Anthony's Head or there are regular ferries to Falmouth. Being situated on the seafront, the village is also known for the restaurants and pubs that serve superb fish and shellfish dishes all year round. There is a selection of pubs & hotels with restaurants (including the renowned Tresanton Hotel) all within easy walking distance. There is a range of shops all within a few minutes' walk including a Cooperative store, Post Office, chemist, butcher, baker and art & clothes shops. The village also has a doctor's surgery and a dentist's surgery.
