Lovely quite cottage
Exellent peacefull remote cosy warm cottage on a farm holding. Away from any noise .the dog loved it too.
James cottage is a cosy little cottage in a beautiful, quiet location on the Lizard.
It is a little of the beaten track but just what we were looking for.
Great dog friendly location although unless your more intrepid than me a long walk with your furry friend is more difficult but definitely enough space around the cottage to blow off a little steam before a day out.
Just a note: James cottage does not have a fenced off garden area but with such a rural location it was not a problem as our dog is not a wanderer.
Hosts are very friendly and Simon put a smile on our boys faces by allowing them to go on the quad bike. No mean feat with a grumpy teen to please!
Lots of animals to greet you each day including 3 lovely goldies.
Cottage was well equipped and a lovely little package of goodies when we arrived.
3 bedrooms with the smaller bed being adequate for our 12yr old so not so small as anticipated. We used the twin downstairs allowing our teen the double (too small for us but as it's a small room can see a king would not fit).
Comfy sofas, Wifi a bit hit and miss but we didn't go so the kids could spend all day glued to a screen.
Communal laundry but accessed through the other cottages garden, on occasion felt like I was intruding on their space. Good for drying those soggy towels though.
All in all we really enjoyed our stay at James cottage and the Lizard peninsula.
Can't recommend enough
We had such a great time. The owners were lovely and super helpful, and v welcoming of our toddler. It was much more child friendly than we were expecting. The animals on the farm and play room with games were a bonus. The cottage itself was really well equipped, especially the kitchen. It's also a total haven - no road noise and beautiful surroundings.
Lovely, immaculate cottage, ideal to get away from it all. Welcoming gifts of local produce were much appreciated.
A Beautiful cottage in a great location
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at James’ cottage. It is set in the heart of th Cornwall countryside in a great spot for exploring this part of Cornwall. The cottage itself is cosy and comfortable with lots of amenities.
We absolutely loved it. Beautiful tranquil location close to all our favourite parts of Cornwall. Snug and comfortable with friendly hosts - we will definitely book again!
There is a good pub - the Prince of Wales at Newtown, just over a mile away or a 20 minute walk, plus more pubs in nearby St Keverne, Coverack and at stunning Cadgwith Cove. There are large supermarkets in Helston and good shopping further afield in Falmouth and Truro.
Coverack has a traditional working harbour, a general store, Internet Cafe, friendly pub and several eating establishments. There are many other beautiful villages to discover around the Lizard such as St Keverne, Porthallow, Manaccan, Helford and Gweek, all with excellent pubs. There is a brewery at Coverack for beer lovers! There are a number of good eating establishments dotted around the peninsula. "South" at Manaccan is a good find, plus "New Yard" at Trelowarren, "Kota" and "Amelie's" at Porthleven, not to mention the inevitable Cornish pasties - Leggy's in Ruan Minor or the famous Ann's Pasties at Lizard.
The Lizard is an 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' and has some spectacular coastal walks. It is England's most southerly point and the highlights include early Spring flowers, the Lizard lighthouse, swimming and surfing from sandy beaches, delightful fishing coves, sailing on the Helford river, heather covered moors in Autumn, open gardens and National Trust areas, pretty harbour lights at Christmas, friendly pubs and good, fresh, local food! There are loads of places to visit and highlights include Lizard Point, walks along the coastal path, a visit to Trelowarren Estate, the fascinating Goonhilly Earth Station, Flambards is great for the kids and you can step into Cornwall's mining heritage at the Poldark Mine. There are so many activities to choose from locally. You can take a boat trip across the beautiful Helford River and explore the gardens at Trebah. There are sea fishing trips from Porthleven. There is great diving on the Manacles and coasteering is available for the really adventurous. The Lizard is home to the Cornish Chough if you like a spot of bird-watching. The coastline has many pretty coves and beaches to discover, but you can find great surf at Porthleven or Loe Bar.
