A Relaxing Stay
A peaceful location to help drive away the stresses and strains of every day life.
The hosts were friendly and checked to make sure we were happy.
Some lovely extras included which were appreciated .
The bed was especially comfortable and the bedroom was spacious with lots of storage space.
Lots of hot water and a good shower.
It would have been useful to have had an information pack on arrival with emergency numbers etc .
Some of the appliances could do with an update but all in all a very comfortable cottage.
Orchard View Cottage
Our second visit to this delightful cottage. Very clean, comfortable and Marilyn is an excellent host. Nothing is too much trouble and the apples are delicious!!
Orchard View is a fantastic place to stay. Located off the beaten track, which was tricky to find and secluded. Owners house is next door but far enough not to feel too intrusive. Stunning views from the balcony. Inside was clean and tidy, very spacious. Not very far from yhe beach, towns and local shops, 15 minutes drive. My partner and I really enjoyed our time here.
A week to remember.
Lovely cottage in an idyllic setting, very comfortable and peaceful ,ideal for a relaxing countryside break but just a short drive from the coast. The cream tea on arrival was an added bonus! The owners go the extra mile to ensure that your stay is one to remember. Hope to return again very soon!
Relaxing, peaceful break in easy reach of many areas of Cornwall
The cottage was one of the most well equipped that I've stayed in with a good range of kitchen equipment, and hairdryer. It was very peaceful and relaxing. The owner was very helpful in taking in a food delivery for our arrival (highly recommend the Cornish Food Box) and in welcoming us. It was a good location to travel around the southern and mid part of Cornwall. One tip: it is a single track road to the cottage - shortest distance from a main road is to leave the main road nearest to Leedstown (half a mile instead of up to two miles).
Hayle is dominated by the spectacular 3 miles of golden sands that stretch north towards Gwithian Towans and Godrevy Lighthouse. A quite stunning beach that offers opportunities for sunbathing and surfing. When the wind is blowing, watch out for the windsurfers, particularly in the waves at the northern end of the beach. This is one of the best windsurfing spots in the country. Paradise Park is always popular with both adults and children with their fantastic collection of rare birds and animals. There is also a good indoor play area if the weather gets bad! St Ives, once a busy fishing village, now relies on tourism as its main industry. Turner came and painted a landscape in 1811 and art has played a part in St Ives history ever since. More recently Barbara Hepworth and the Tate Gallery have put St Ives on the modern map. The Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden is an amazing place to visit, and well worth it even if you're not a budding artist. Trewyn Studios where she lived and worked from 1939 until her tragic death in 1975 has been turned into a fantastic museum, depicting many of her favourite sculptures in the sub tropical garden, is now managed by the Tate. The Tate Gallery St Ives was built in 1993 on the former gas works site displaying various paintings, sculptures and ceramics.
From Penzance you can take the Scillonian for a day trip to the picturesque Isles of Scilly, well worth a visit if you have never been. 10 minutes down the road lies Marazion famous for St Michaels Mount, home to a medieval castle and a working local community. St Michaels Mount is accessible by causeway at low tides, or by boat. The castle is leased from the National Trust by the St Aubyn family who reside at the property maintaining and working the grounds. Penzance has a brilliant selection of supermarkets.
