Fantastic holiday at North Coast Holiday Cottages
Just returned from a great holiday. The lovely cottages provide everything for a relaxing break. Amazing views and all amenities close by.
Beautiful, good value cottage in great location
We really really enjoyed our stay in this cottage and would love to come back to it! The location was excellent, with great views from the patio and hot tub, it was so nice to sit here in the evenings as the sun went down. The hot tub was an amazing addition and just what I had hoped for - we were in it every night! Although the patio/hot tub was right next to the site entrance, it still felt secluded once in it which was great. The quality and style of the cottage was great, it was beautifully finished and was a pleasure to stay in. There were just a few issues with fittings (eg loose tap in kitchen and bath overflow) that should probably be fixed to make the place 100% perfect. The facilities in the kitchen were great though, great to have a dishwasher and washer/dryer, and there was loads of cupboard space for the week. We didn't have much communication with the team as it is completely self catering, and it might have been nice to have a little more contact on arrival, especially since it's hard to see which cottage is which! This is a really minor point however, and the times we did speak Natalie was helpful and friendly. It was nice to have a box of free range eggs waiting for us on our arrival and they were delicious. The cottage is in a great location for exploring North and South Cornwall, and is near an Aldi and a Tesco which is great for self catering. I would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone wanting to enjoy Cornwall in a little bit of luxury!
best holiday for a long while
Me and my girls (age 20 and 24) had an amazing holiday here at Mainbeach Cottage.....still in holiday mode. We had two weeks here and it was so relaxing, it's peaceful, secluded and we totally chilled out. The cottage is excellent, it was clean and very well provided....we were over the moon with it, loads of space. Yeah I know a previous review was annoyed with there being a 'wobbly tap' in the kitchen and yes the 'wobbly tap' was still there but at the end of the day it is only a 'wobbly tap' it certainly didn't spoil our holiday. The bedrooms were a good size and plenty of wardrobe space not that we needed it as we had amazing weather and spent all our time in shorts and t-shirts (sorry don't wish to make anyone jealous).
From the main road you have Porthreath beach to your right and Porthtowan beach to your left both of them only a couple minutes drive away and with plenty of facilities and stunning sunsets. We didn't spend much time at either as we were happy to stay at Mainbeach, we had our own patio and bit of green where we just enjoyed being able to relax in the sun spending time catching up.
Redruth is the nearest town about 5-10 mins away, with a Tescos, petrol station and plenty of other shops there as well, it also has the nearest Catholic Church which was handy for us on Sundays.
And of course Mainbeach has a jacuzzi....as the weather was too warm we didn't use it during the day but come around 8-9 in the evening as the sun started disaappearing around the corner it was ideal to finish off the day.
As I said we had such a chilled holiday, can't fault the place, good chance we'll be back next year.
A lovely break in Cornwall
Main Beach was a very good place to have a break as it was easy to find and only half an hour from St. Ives. We thoroughly enjoyed our six night stay in this lovely modern cottage. Most things required were supplied and several items we didn't need to use. Good to have a fridge, freezer, washing machine and dish washer. The bathroom with both a bath and separate shower was excellent. The central heating was very efficient and soon warmed the house when needed. Only two things needed attention, first the tap on the sink was very loose and when the owners were informed of this, we were told that they knew about it though every plumber they had asked to fix it was unable to do so. However, this really did need to be repaired as it was not easy to use. Second, the lovely hot tub needed to be a degree or two hotter and we were not able to adjust it. It was set at 34.5 degrees and needed to be at about 37 degrees.
Our family holiday at Main beach
We absolutely loved this cottage. The views were stunning. The cottage was beautiful, so much room and had everything we needed. The children loved the hot tub. The location was perfect.
We will be back xx
October week at Main Beach Portreath
Lovely bungalow with everything you could need. Loved the hot tub and stunning views. Peaceful location but close to the main routes.
Portreath, situated on the North Cornwall coast, about 5 miles north of Redruth, was originally a small fishing village. Today it's a beautiful retreat with a narrow harbour, secluded sandy beaches and a stream running to the sea on one side. It is ideal for swimming and surfing, watched by the local Surf and Life Saving Club. Portreath offers the pleasures of sea and countryside with beautiful views, spectacular cliffs and walking trails. Illogan Woods is adjacent to Portreath with lovely streams and a circular walk leading to the 14th century church tower of Illogan. There is also Tehidy Country Park just outside of Portreath with its adjoining golf-course. It is a beautiful country park comprised of 250 acres of woodland, lakes, bridleways, cycling and nature trails. There are several ponds and a lake with swans and various kinds of waterfowl. Occupying a dramatic valley location with one of the most spectacular and beautiful beaches of the Atlantic Coast, Porthtowan has been drawing visitors for years to take advantage of its natural sun trap. A superb location for a holiday to Cornwall with a fine beach and close to good main roads means that you can easily explore the surrounding area on days that are not conducive to sitting on the beach.
Porthtowan has one of Cornwall's finest surfing waves. Producing good waves at all states of the tide, the wave is particularly good in an easterly or south easterly when it really pumps with some lovely hollow barrels. It is not for the faint hearted and beginners should be careful. An excellent surf school operates from the beach. At low tide the beach stretches down to St Agnes Head and Chapel Porth Beach where you will find a lovely National Trust Cafe full of warming hot chocolate and fabulous views. From Porthtowan you are ideally located to reach the many beaches on the North Coast famous for attracting keen surfers and beginners alike.
