Your Northwest Island Beach Paradise
About Barron Steffen
To tell you a little about us, Barron owns his own music business and is an elementary teacher at Chautauqua Elementary on Vashon Island. He loves to surf and practices Siddha Yoga. Seana is the owner of the Restorative Leadership Institute (www.restorative-leadership.org), a certified B Corp. Seana also does a lot of yoga, running, swimming, and occasional fair-weather telemarking. Because Seana’s company is based in Colorado, we head back there for the summer.

Perfect in every way!
This cute house on the water was everything we anticipated and more. Very clean with comfortable furniture and cute island decor. The deck was the best feature and we spent many hours out there just taking in the beautiful, peaceful view and tidal action. Close access to Burton Acres Park and Vashon Watersports was a plus. We enjoyed hikes in the beautiful park and a kayak paddle around the inlet perimeter. We lucked out on our timing with hundreds of moon jellies, a rainbow and full moon. Wish we could have stayed longer!
Deserves WAY more than just 5 stars!
Perfect, Wonderful, Tranquil, Peaceful an d simply put - PERFECT! There are to many nice things to say about this place. It is exactly what we needed. My only compliant is that I didn't find this place sooner. We will definitely be back. If you are looking for a relaxing place to savor the beauty of the island, the water and wildlife---stay here-- BUT-- BE WARNED - the seals, otters, dear and herons are all going to show up to say a friendly, "Hello" so have your camera ready and bring your binoculars. :)
Immersed in Nature
We spent a wonderful 5 days at Barron & Seana’s cottage surrounded by nature. Just what we had hoped for and we weren’t disappointed. Living on the water like that is amazing! You can watch the tide come in, inch by inch eventually surrounding the house and then discover what had been left behind in the morning. The cottage is filled with light which makes it feel much larger than it is - water and distant forest out the front, flowers and more forest in the back. Very cool to wake to the morning sun sparkling off the water and watch gulls doing their morning thing all from the comfy bed. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything needed to prepare most of our meals in. If you love to hike and explore all you need to do is walk down the beach or across the street to a lush old-growth forest. Or drive to one of Vashon's many trails and beaches. The town has a grocery store with everything and more, great restaurants and fun shops. Barron is an excellent host, very responsive and you can tell that he really cares that you enjoy his home as much as he and Seana have. This has to be one of our best Vrbo rental experiences and we’ve had many. Thank You Barron!
A beautiful stay on Vashon!

Eco Cottage on Vashon Island
Wonderful, serene location with nature everywhere around you. Kayak rentals and hiking trails within walking distance. Quiet, comfortable stay. All the amenities you could ask for. RECOMMEND!
Amazing On-The-Water Getaway!
Our stay at this gem was perfect. We were looking for a quiet, comfortable spot on Vashon Island that was on the water & close to trails. Each morning, we woke to the crewers in their shells rowing across the bay and the sun rising over Maury Island. Spectacular! This large, single room cottage has been updated and features plenty of storage, lots of windows to see the water, a toasty hot shower, wifi for those looking to stay connected to the outside world, a full kitchen (no microwave) that we used for most of our meals, and 3 local deer were in the front yard one morning nibbling on the foliage! The boat launch rental was not open yet but we walked & ran all the trails of the adjacent Burton Woods. Beautiful, quiet and easy to get to from the cabin. Renting a kayak or paddle board once the temps warm up would be a must to explore the coves and bay around Burton. The local little grocery store in Burton was just a short walk down the road if you need any supplies. Perfect location to explore the entire island.
Jensen Point Park in Quartermaster Harbor is around the corner. Enjoy this 4.0 acre shoreline activity park located on the east shore of Burton Peninsula off Harbor Drive.
Jensen Point provides one of two island boat launch and parking areas for motorized craft and a put-in access for hand carry kayaks and canoes. A small grassy area and picnic tables have been installed along the sand and cobblestone beach, which, due to the shallow water depth, is relatively warm for Puget Sound waters during the summer months.
The boathouse is home to Vashon Watersports, a kayak rental center, and to Vashon Island Rowing Club. It is also host to the Vashon Jr. Crew rowing program, operated in cooperation with the local rowing club and providing permanent instruction and operating space. Vashon Island Rowing Club is a year round adult rowing program, and Junior Crew is for boys and girls age 13 - 18. Juniors have a 12 week Fall season starting the last week of August and a 16 week Spring season starting the end of January in addition to summer camps.
Kayak and rowing classes are available for all ages. Vashon Watersports offers kayak rental and instruction out of the boathouse.
