Hi I am Phil. My wife Silvy and I have owned and managed our 400 acre farm since 1992 when I moved to Italy from the UK. We started to rent out one apartment in 2002 and enjoyed having people around so much that we decided to restore a huge old 17th century barn and farm house which we turned into 6 holiday rental apartments.
Philip Frankland purchased this farmhouse in 1991
We were lucky enough to inherit Palazzo Rosso Farm from my wife Silvy's family.
Our guests love to come and stay at Palazzo Rosso because they can enjoy the benefits of being close to many beautiful places such as Venice, Verona, Padova, Mantova and Vicenza and at the same time when they want to relax they can sit back and enjoy the farm location and beautiful surroundings at Palazzo Rosso.
The apartment was very comfortable, perfect for a family with small children. The satellite TV, DVD player & stereo made life easier when it rained. The kitchen was very well equipped and there were lots of great places to go out for dinner, the Italians all take their children out with them which was a nice change and made our evenings much more enjoyable.
There were lots of places to go and visit close by, we stayed for nearly two weeks and still didn't get to see everything.
We had a great time staying over new year, we even joined in a local new years party which was great fun.
looking forward to coming back soon.

We like the fire outside.
You've been very helpful and kind.
We like the fresh eggs !!

The rental rate includes electricity, heating and air conditioning (when required), linen (including beach towels during the summer season) and final cleaning. There are no hidden costs. Payment by bank transfer or by credit card.
Our family (2 adults, 2 kids age 6 and 3) stayed at this lovely place the week before Palm Sunday, and were the first in the season, profiting from the calm before the Easter rush (we had the place all to ourselves). It was in impeccable condition, well-prepared, modern furnishings. Pool was not yet filled but we did not miss it.
Phil and Sylvi were great and helpful hosts and a found of knowledge for local things to do. They run a farm there though they live a bit away (they will come over at 23h to fix the internet, if needed). You hear machinery and meet some farm hands, but will also get a chance to watch hens, horses, sheep and other animals. (When we were there, two goats were born.)
It’s great for families with little children: the yard is fenced and protected, and there are toys and games galore. The place is perfect for letting kids roam and for communal barbecues, with plenty of tables and chairs on the patio (but every apartment also has their private kitchen).
Things to be aware of:
- Wi-Fi works great.
- There are various apartments, some on the ground floor with direct access to the patio, others one or two flights of stairs up (no elevator). If this matters, ask.
- The location is about a 20 minutes south of Vicenza. The farm is off a busy road and you hear the traffic. It didn’t bother us, and you have good access to the motor ways to Venice, Verona and other places.
- You need a car. Phil and Sylvi offer bikes: they may be an option for some (there are plenty of bike paths) but not for us.
- Nice feature: they stock local wine at cost and you pay what you use (honor system).
A delightful holiday , accommodation first class in a great location for travelling to Venice and Verona and beyond . The pool was very appreciated with the temperature reaching 37 degrees . Sylvi and Phil couldn't to enough to help the whole experience was wonderful will definitely go back very soon .
Really nice stay. Beautiful surroundings. Very helpful and kind owners. Lots of good tips for the surrounding areas. Thank you Phil & Silvy XX

We stayed for a week over a school mid-term break and had a super time here, loving the relaxed, natural environment. Sylvie and Phil are great hosts and always around to offer advice or help as they work the farm.
Brilliant for cyclists incl kids, this area connects to local towns via a flat cycle path - rail conversion. The local hills and nearby regional park are great for stronger riders and driving trips. I noted a limestone rock-climbing area a couple of km away.
Vicenza was bike able with the kids for a day trip. Padua is a short drive to see the Giotto paintings in the chapel. Venice is an easy day trip. Coming back to the farm each afternoon, the covered 400 year old barn makes an outdoor social gathering point to meet and talk with the other families/couples and watch the kids play. Nice pool, but too cold for us in October.
We went with owner Phil to see a local farmer pressing his grapes for wine making.
Truly enjoyable and relaxing place to base yourself out of for an extended visit to this part of Italy. Car is required.
Our second stay with Phil and Silvy at the Pallazo de Rosso and were not disappointed. The usual high standards of looking after us on our stay and ensuring everything was perfect.

The Villa Palazzo Rosso is located near the village of Longare, in the hamlet of 'Ponte di Lumignano' at the foot of the Berici Hills (400 meters high). The local area is perfect for hiking, mountain biking and rock climbing. There are many local restaurants and wine producers where guests can enjoy the fantastic local dishes & taste the local wine.
