Spacious 3 bed chalet on the coast. A short walk from centre of Westward Ho!
About Steve Harris
Our family fell in love with Westward Ho! when we first went there in 1994. We holidayed in Golden Bay every year since. I had the chance to buy a property in 2004 and jumped at the chance. We have met lots of people we now call friends through our regular visits. Our children and now grandchildren have grown up coming to Westward Ho! and they love it. We have met lots of lovely friends and families by staying here and are still in contact with nearly all of them. We think thats its a lovely part of the country. As a family we get down to Westward Ho! as often as we can. We decided to modernise the chalet after time in order to keep up with the rest of the area as its popularity is growing and demand for good accomodation is also growing.
Steve Harris purchased this Chalet in 2004
Why Steve Harris chose Bideford
When people ask me where I have my chalet and I tell them Westward Ho! most of them say that they went there as a child. I myself did years ago and thats where our love affair with this part of the country started. I tell other people that Westward Ho! is still there and they should come down and rediscover the magic. I did and that they should try it and love it.
What makes this Chalet unique
The view from the bottom of the site is a view I will never tire of seeing. Most people that see it will agree. I spend ages just looking across the bay and its timeless beauty. Westward Ho is on the coastal path and is a great location from which to explore the surrounding areas from. The North Devon coast is rugged and beautiful and there are plenty of beautiful places to discover.

Our second stay at the chalet and still loved it. Comfortable beds, clean with plenty of space for 5 of us. Loved watching the bunnies in the morning and the short walk to the sea.

There are lots of activities in and near to Westward Ho!
In Westward Ho! itself there are restaurants that we use all the time such as Morans, Pier House, Country Cousins, Tea on the Green, the Rock Pool Cafe and pubs that serve food which are The Waterfront and The Village Inn. Nearby pubs that serve food are Westleigh Arms, The Hoops, The Thatched Inn, The Quay Inn,
You can surf in Westward Ho! or learn to surf as lessons given locally. My daughter and friend have tried this and recommend the lessons. You can also buy or hire wet suits locally or for all your beach needs or just gift shopping just pop into The Beach shop and see Cathy or Clive the owners they are friends of ours and they will always look after you.
Royal North Devon golf club is 5 minutes drive away from chalet which is a famous old links course, the oldest links course in the country. Friends of ours have tried this out and came back to play it again.
I have people who stay at the chalet every year when the come to play in golf tournaments. Tournament organisers also stay here.
For local fishing there is sea fishing off the local rocks or beach or the estuary. You can book in the nearby Summerlands tackle shop for deep sea fishing. For coarse angling there are numerous local lakes within a short drive. You can purchase day tickets from Summerlands tackle. The staff here a very friendly and knowledgeable. Just ask for Simon or Heather and they will help you with anything you need. - tell them that your stopping at Steve chalet and they will help you out. I use the place all the time.
There are numerous local attractions and in many places around Westward Ho! you can find leaflets for these ( inside the chalet upon your arrival. There are lots of leaflets on things to do locally).
There are local shops in Westward Ho! or if you want bigger shops there is Atlantic Village a couple of miles away. We like to take a trip to Barnstaple and have a walk round the shops there and the local pannier market. There are the usual big name grocery shops in the area.
For local walks there is the coastal path, we like to walk along the coastal path taking in the views and normally stop off on the way back for a quick and needed drink in the Pier House on the way back. How far you walk is upto your own preference. We like to go about 4 or 5 miles then turn round and head back.
For local cycling take a short trip to either Bideford or Fremington Quay and hire a bicycle at good rates. From here you are on the Tarka trail which is a beautiful and picturesque route. We normally go to Fremington Quay for our bike hire as you can stop and have something to eat at their lovely cafe afterwards.
There is The Big Sheep and The Milky Way locally for children. My kids have grown up going to the Milky Way regularly and now we take the Grandchildren they love it there.
There is plenty more to do down in Devon. Just keep an eye out for the numerous places that have information leaflets for attractions and places of interest.
