Wonderful Peaceful Hawi Home

  • 5 of 5

This home is very well represented in the photos. I found it extremely private. The garden is surrounded by lush plants so even when you are outside on the lanai you feel like your alone.

Each morning I woke in complete silence. It was very peaceful. It is odd but there is something truly calming about looking out your window and seeing cows grazing. Every vacation home should have them.

The kitchen is fully functional. The hosts left 100% kona coffee for us which was very welcome. We cooked almost all our meals at home and had no problems.

We also enjoyed time in the hot tub.

There are pairs of boogie boards, beach chairs and an umbrella which we made full use of on our trips to the kohala beach.

The hosts were extremely wonderful people. So nice. This is a lovely place to stay and I hope to stay again.

Spectacular in every way!

  • 5 of 5

From the exquisite view to the beautiful house to the helpful and warm hosts (brought us fresh limes from their tree) , I couldn’t have asked for more. Close to charming town, views change throughout the day - water, horses, cows and calves, scenic fields then a sky filled with millions of stars you can enjoy from the deck or hot tub. Elegant, artistic decor with the finest renovations. We had a wonderful time And would love to live here!

Cozy, peaceful cottage

  • 5 of 5

My family of 3 just returned from a short stay at this cozy cottage. We are frequent Big Island visitors, but this was our first stay in sleepy but charming Hawi. We spent two nights at the end of a longer trip. The quaint cottage is pleasant, comfortable, and very well equipped, with good quality, newer kitchen appliances and even a washer/dryer, which was nice. Good wifi and streaming TV that works, if you want that. Amazing dark skies on this end of the island if you are a star gazer. You can relax in the hot tub at night and marvel at the Milky Way, which most city dwellers never see. Very convenient to local sights and activities. The owners are pleasant and laid back. You have plenty of privacy. Recommended

A great retreat!

  • 5 of 5

Get away from the traffic and crowds. Hawi is a diamond in the rough and the plantation house is a wonderful 'base' with access to some of the 'coolest' parts of the Island (esp w/ Volcano NP currently being closed). You feel like you're in Old Hawai'i, but still only a short drive to World-class beaches and resorts......or just enjoy the natutral beauty of the Polulu and Wapio Valleys.

The owners were great, the residence was comfortable and well-appointed. Amazing views (unobstructed views of the ocean) and cool trade winds.

My favorite part was the cows (and horses) @ the ranch next door- we'd have 50-60 cows munching on sugar cane and/or just hanging out with the Egrets, right outside the livingroom window! They added to the ambiance.

We had a great time.

Loved our stay.

  • 5 of 5

We had such a great time at this cottage,

Really pleased with the space. It was just right for our family and guests that we had. We rented it for our honeymoon/vacation. The privacy of the house was really nice, love the wind. The house is really functional if I could change one thing, I would add a pantry or cabinet for food. We loved the town of Hawi and it was a great place to stay. We will be renting from John and Janet again.

Quiet and cozy, just what we wanted.

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay near Hawi. It’s a wonderfully cozy cottage nestled against green pastures with a beautiful view. One of the quietest places we’ve ever stayed at. It was super relaxing for us. We got good use out of the hot tub. It’s also close enough to Hawi town that we walked in but we only did that once as there’s no sidewalk so we were having to carefully watch the cars. It was nice being close to the services and restaurants in town.

Hawi Town is located on the north shore of the Big Island of Hawaii. This is the most historical place in Hawaii facing the island of Maui with moderate weather and soothing trade winds. Hawi Town has great restaurants and boutique shops which showcase local artists creations. Scenic sites close by include famous Pololu valley with spectacular views of the Big Island's north coast and black sands beach, with great hiking trails.. King Kamehameha the Great's birth place and the Mo'okini Heiau oldest Hawaiian temple along the coastline with gorgeous hikes and views of Maui Haleakala volcano. Go for an amazing snorkel at Mahukona and explore the coral reef 10 minutes away, snorkel or scuba dive with turtles in Puako , swim with wild spinner dolphins in Ho'okena, watch the whales crossing the Maui channel just a few miles away (between December and April), go for the boogie boarding of a life time at Hawaii's most beautiful Hapuna Beach nearby or leisure on the beach like a Rockefeller for free at the most magnificent 5 stars Mauna Kea beach hotel 20 minutes away. And if this not enough, hike to the magnificent 1600 feet high Hi'ilawe falls in Waipio valley of the kings. Aloha Nui.
