About Sarah Eddy
We fell in love with the cottage as soon as we saw it. It is our sanctuary away from our busy lives where we can spend family holidays walking, fishing, cycling and relaxing in front of a roaring fire, or in the garden looking across the valley to the distant sea.
Sarah Eddy purchased this Cottage in 2016

Superb cosy cottage
The cottage was very clean with beautiful features . Lovely fireplaces and well appointed with everything you would need for a week away . Beds were extremely comfortable and we would recommend this cottage !
Alison was a great guest and we would love to have her back.
Review of cottage
Excellent home although not good for people who might struggle with steps. The rooms were clean and tidy. The fires still had ashes from previous use. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Great character cottage , good location for exploring the area.
Good communication with Sarah prior to visit . easy directions to follow . Cottage was lovely but smelt damp on arrival . Once the heating was activated the smell dissipated .
Was surprised to find both bathrooms downstairs but perhaps I hadn't read the cottage details clearly. Struggled with activating hot water at first for the shower room but after a few added 'bursts' we were fine ! Thank you Sarah for leaving detailed instructions for your heating and hot water which was much appreciated.
The open inglenook fires were lovely but difficult for us to light without newspaper and kindling but we fully understood with a thatched roof this was not advisable .
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the beds were very comfortable, and the cottage tastefully decorated .
Lovely spacious cottage, well equipped in a nice secluded setting. The pretty garden has great views as well as catching the evening sun. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider returning.
Linda you were an excellent guest to have at the cottage and hope to see you again soon.
Thatched cottage escape.
Lovely thatched cottage close to Bridport within easy reach of most of the best Dorset has to offer, from stately homes and gardens like Montacute House to seaside resorts like Lyme Regis. Lovely rear garden sun trap. Perhaps not for drivers nervous of very narrow country lanes.
Thank you for your review. I am so pleased that you had an enjoyable stay.
Great stay !
Very well maintaned cottage. You'll feel at home instantly. All's nice, clean and well equiped. Very, very nice place to get away from daily business.
We had a great time in Dorset.
Thank you or your comments. Hopefully you will come back again in the future.
Places to visit locally include:
Bridport- lots of interesting shops and street markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays which are well worth a visit. There are 2 butchers, a couple of bakers (you must try Leakers). There is also a Waitrose in Bridport.
Shaftesbury- historic market town.
Lyme Regis- historic town it also has the only sandy beach around. There are lots of shops and places to eat. Try The Bakery- communal tables and very rustic. The Mill Restaurant is a little gem. Mark Hix has a restaurant in Lyme Regis too.
Golden Cap- highest point on the south coast
Stoke Abbott- the nearest village and very pretty with a traditional pub- The New Inn- you will need to book for dinner.
Eype & Higher Eype- coastal walk with a lovey stop off venue called Downhouse cafe for breakfast/ lunch/ tea- see the walking map/book in the cottage (The New Inn at Eype Pub Walk)
Seatown- The Anchor pub on the beach does excellent food
Burton Bradstock- visit the Hive Cafe on the beach for fresh seafood
Symondsbury- lovely village with a cafe and shops in the Symondsbury Estate
Charmouth beach- best fossil-hunting around
Beaminster- lovely little town with small shops and a cafe in Cilla & Camilla. There is an excellent restaurant called Brassicas or The Bridge Hotel does great food for adults and is very child-friendly.
Montacute House- a National Trust property worth a visit and has a café and National Trust shop
Forde Abbey- a privately owned stately home with lovely grounds and a café.
River Cottage- has lots of events on and may be worth checking out before you arrive. We usually go via taxi so that we can all enjoy a drink!
