About the Property
3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 porches with views of the Continental Divide
Lazy Bear Retreat is nestled on the side of a mountain in the tranquil Upper Blanco Basin. As you leave the highway and start the drive into the UBB, you won’t believe the beautiful scenery that greets you, becoming more breathtaking the further you go – majestic mountain peaks, the gently flowing Rio Blanco, and forests of ponderosa pines, blue spruces and quaking aspens.
In addition to the incomparable setting Lazy Bear Retreat has everything you need to make your stay comfortable, from a well equipped kitchen with quality cookware, dishes and utensils, to 3 comfortably furnished living areas, one of which is an entertainment room complete with air hockey, games and puzzles, and an HD entertainment system with surround sound. The large master bedroom on the top floor has a king size bed and its own deck, which is perfect for star gazing, while the second bedroom (on the main floor) has a queen size bed; both have large walk-in closets. The third bedroom (also on the main floor) is a unique bunk room with three twin beds, each in its own cozy nook. Floors are kept toasty warm with radiant heat, especially nice when barefoot in the bathroom or sock-footed in the kitchen.
The main floor has an open concept layout with the kitchen open to the dining and living areas, so the cook of your group won’t miss out on any of the memories being made in the big room. The dining area has a large table that seats 8 with room to spare. The cozy loft with futon and desk overlooks the whole area. The 25 foot southern wall of this great room is made up almost entirely of floor to ceiling windows providing gorgeous mountain views.
Beds throughout are made up with high quality linens and plenty of comfy pillows. All bathrooms have a full size tub/shower and are furnished with an abundance of towels and a hair dryer. The cabin also has laundry room with large capacity washer and dryer, ironing board and iron.
The over-sized, heated, two-car garage provides a great place to come in from your outdoor activities and shed your wet and snow covered outerwear.
Each floor has an HD TV connected to DirecTV with over 200 channels. In addition, LBR has high speed internet and an unlimited local and long distance land line. All are provided at no charge.
Lazy Bear Retreat has the space for your entire group to make lasting memories together, as well as several areas to provide some quiet, alone time. National Forest snowmobile trails are less than 1/2 mile from the cabin and ATV access is within 5 miles. Hiking and horse trails are abundant in the area with the property backing up to and surrounded by the San Juan National Forest.
We are excited to make this special home and location available to others to experience the beauty and tranquility of the Upper Blanco Basin and the Pagosa Springs area.

About the owner: We grew up together in northern Virginia and always enjoyed the Appalachian Mountains. We often sidetracked down the Skyline Drive while attending Virginia Tech. We moved to Weatherford, Texas in 1986 and have been here since, raising our four wonderful children. We've been married for 37+ years, kids are grown, self sufficient, and producing lovely grandchildren. It was time for us to acquire our dream vacation home to generate mountain memories as we had in Virginia.
Why the Owner Chose Pagosa Springs, CO, USA:
The Coveted Upper Blanco Basin! When you turn off of highway 84 east onto state road 326 it quickly becomes apparent why this location is special. The abundant wildlife is easily seen in this picturesque valley split by the gurgling waters of the Rio Blanco and surrounded by stunning views of the Continental Divide. The peace, quiet, and tranquility of the area seeps into your soul within the first mile. You won't hear anything more intrusive than the rustle of the aspen leaves, bellowing of a bull elk, chattering of the squirrels or melodies of the the abundant song birds.
