Super little house in great location.
Just returned from a week in York in this cosy little house. Immaculately clean and an extremely pleasant owner. So handy to walk into the centre of York in less than five minutes and great to know that if you go out in the car you have TWO secure private car parking spaces to come back to.
We had a more than generous welcome pack when we arrived which we thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you Dawn.
Even though the house backs onto the ring road we slept in the front bedroom and we not disturbed once. We loved the immaculately-kept little garden where we had a couple of G&Ts. Would we stay here again? Most definitely.
We have stayed here on numerous occasions and it never disappoints. It's in a great location, is spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The owner is a lovely lady who can't do enough to make us welcome. We look forward to our next visit.
“My dearest Myra & Bob, Thank you so very much for your lovely Review and your wonderful kindness. I have to say, it is always an absolute treat for me to welcome you both back year after years (it must be my baking Hee Hee)! Until the next time – here’s to our next good ole fashioned Yorkshire Welcome and Group Hug. Take good care of yourselves and each other. My kindest and fondest regards Dawn Lacy x”
Short stay in York
Perfectly located for exploring York, immaculately kept and I can’t praise the owner enough, you won’t be disappointed.
“Dear Michael and Dawn, David and Matty, Thank you so very much for your lovely Review and I am so very pleased that you have all enjoyed yet another stay with us here in York in my “Little House”. It is always wonderful to see you all again and I am getting to know which cake is your favourite. I do so hope to see you again sometime soon but until then take good care of yourself and each other. My warmest and fondest regards, Dawn Lacy x”
Friendly and comfortable.
What a super landlady providing us with lots of extras to get us started. Superb facilities, cosy and warm. In a first class location with on site parking. We stayed a whole week and will undoubtedly be back in the future. Very difficult to find fault. Hubby asked for a towel rail above the kitchen radiator to dry his tea towels! We have had lots of self catering but none like this one, super. The kitchen has a full size fridge and full size freezer, most unusual but very useful. Despite being so close to the city centre, it is in a quiet location. I'd better stop or it will be fully booked next time we need a visit.
“Dear Mr and Mrs Cooper, thank you so very much indeed for your lovely Review it is so very kind of you and I really do appreciate it. It was an absolute pleasure to meet you both and I am thrilled to bits that, by all accounts, you have enjoyed your stay in my Little House. I know I am biased but yes the location is excellent as you are literally a stone’s throw away from the City Centre, the Minster and all the wonderful delights that York has to offer for both young and old; I have said for a very long time now that there is “something for everyone” here and I am extremely lucky to be one of the locals. Take good care of each other and I am already looking forward to welcoming you back again hopefully in the not too distant future – another lemon cake on the menu perhaps? And I will ask my Trevor to see if he can fix a little rail in the kitchen for Mr Cooper’s tea-towel : a brilliant idea! My fondest and warmest regards to you both, Dawn Lacy x
A comfortable, cosey bolt hole. A perfect base
This adorable little house is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac which is very private and yet only 5 to 10 minutes walk from the Minster. It is well equipped and set up with everything you could possibly want or need. The owner, Dawn, was so warm and welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us to make our stay enjoyable. The generous welcome pack was second to none, including the delicious home made lemon cake . Sainsbury’s is on the doorstep for anything else you might need.
This was our first time staying in14 Cloisters Walk and we would certainly look to stay here again on future visits to York. We loved it and would thoroughly recommend it !
“Dear Rosemary, Steve and Elsa – It was so lovely to meet you all and thank you so very very much for your Review it is very kind of you to find the time as I know and appreciate only too well that once we are back home from holidays, the routine of “every-day-life” does take over once again. I am absolutely thrilled to bits that you have all enjoyed your stay with us here in York and in my Little House. I do agree with you that the location is rather surprising in a way as yes you are private (located in a quiet cul-de-sac) but to be just a couple of minutes walk away from the Monkgate Bar area of York with all its little tea shops and restaurants and bars and boutiques etc and of course, never forgetting the York Minster – it is a real treat and all areas of York as just so easily accessible.
I am so very pleased that you enjoyed my Lemon Cake. Perhaps when you come and visit again I will bake you my legendary Victoria Sponge – a real treat and if I’m honest it’s my favourite Hee Hee (plain but rather yummie!). Take good care all of you and I am already looking forward to welcoming you all back again in the not too distant future. My Warmest and kindest regards Dawn Lacy x”
Lovely and comfortable
Everything about Cloisters Walk was excellent, from the friendly welcome from Dawn to all the nice touches round the house. As everyone says, the welcome hamper is outstanding: freshly made cake, cream, fresh fruit, biscuits, two loaves of bread... more than enough to keep you in light breakfasts and snacks for your short stay in York. The location is fab too, a short walk takes you straight into the centre.
One small criticism, the television could do with an update. It was a little temperamental and the menus/volume didn't always work, but it really is a minor point in such a lovely, welcoming home.
“Dear Colette and Gareth, Thank you so very much for your wonderful Review. It was so very kind of you to take the time as I appreciate only too well that once you get back home, the demands of our day-to-day lives seem to take back control with earnest. It was so lovely to meet and welcome you both and I am so very pleased that you enjoyed your stay in my Little House – and the Wedding too sounded like you all had a simply magical and wonderful time. Lovely to hear you enjoyed the Welcome Pack – I do like to make my guests feel that they can relax the minute they arrive, with not having to even think about popping to the shops for tea, coffee, milk, bread & butter etc and I’m thrilled that you enjoyed my home baking. So very sorry to hear that the telly was playing up and I do so hope that it didn’t spoil your stay or inconvenience either of you too much and I thank you for bringing this matter to my attention. I have since checked and it was the batteries in the remote so I have replaced these and it appears to be working brilliantly now. These things happen and again please accept my sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused (I appreciate only too well there is nothing worse if you’re just about to settle down to a little bit of telly and it’s playing up). Thanking you both again for choosing to come and stay in my Little House it was lovely to meet you both and I do so hope that I get a chance to bake you a Chocolate Sponge Cake in the not too distant future. My kindest regards, Dawn Lacy x”
