A family half term break
This property is in a great location for sightseeing York. On street parking never a problem with the vouchers that are provided for one car.
Very comfortable property, suitable for family groups. This is our 3rd stay in this property.
Small suggestions for small improvements. The property could probably do with a little TLC. The front garden is very overgrown, so does not show property at its best. A small amount of items in the house looking tired or needing repair, such as cushion covers in lounge, also reading lamp in lounge did not work. The washing machine sounded like it was on its last legs and the drier did not heat, so clothes did not dry.
Overall however, this did not detract from the enjoyment of our stay and we would not hesitate to rebook in future.
A great base for exploring York
Located just outside the city wall, the walk to the Minster takes no more than 10 minutes, you can even see it from the front of the house.
Parking permits are available during the stay but, be aware, St John’s is very narrow, with parking on both sides, so avoid taking a wide car if possible.
The house is clean and comfortable, with all the usual amenities. There’s a toilet and bath on the ground floor but the only bathroom on the first floor is accessible through the master bedroom. There is also a large loft bedroom with en-suite shower room. The first floor has a master with king size bed, a second with twin beds and a third single bedroom. The loft room has twin beds.
It was an ideal base for a long weekend away with friends and I would definitely recommend it for that. It’s not a base I would choose to stay with family, but that’s only because I prefer a place with a higher standard of interior and furnishings when I’m with them.
One last observation, if this is important to you, the WiFi can be sketchy occasionally.
Thank you for taking time to review the property. We are pleased you and your friends enjoyed the location and your stay in the house.
Super nice and super location!
We loved staying in this property. Nice and clean. Top location with short stroll to centre. Quiet street. No problems arriving or leaving. Thank you so much. We will come back.
Thank you so much for your review. We are very pleased you had such a great stay and enjoyed the house.
We would love to welcome you back for a return visit.
Well-presented house in a very convenient location!
The house was very clean and tidy and had everything we needed for a very enjoyable stay, and was situated in a very quiet street 10-15 minutes walk from Monkgate providing quick and easy access to the town.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would have no hesitation in recommending this property to anyone wanting to spend a few days in York!
Thank you, Steven, for your great review. We are so pleased you all enjoyed your stay. Please don't hesitate to contact us should you plan a return visit to York.
Perfect location, good house that could be great.
The rooms are beautiful, the bedding and beds very comfortable and the location outstanding. Milk in the fridge upon arrival very much appreciated. A few cosmetic tweaks and housekeeping touches would make this a 10/10 property.
Central and comfortable
Great central location.
Would benefit from 4th armchair, shower mats, grabrail to ensuite.
