My description is very long. A Maui vacation is a big expense. You should know every detail about the condo you are renting so there are no surprises or disappointments. I describe in great detail the amenities and benefits of my unit and our complex.
The main photo was taken from the master bedroom, showing how close the beach really is. No unit in our complex is closer. It truly is only 15 steps from the edge of our lanai to the sand. You can swim in front (season permitting). A condo that is Oceanfront is not the same as BEACHFRONT. A beach has sand. “Oceanfront” is on a reef or rocks...NO SANDY BEACH. That is why the Oceanfront units are less.
The two and 1/2 acre Kanai A Nalu has been rated the best vacation property in Maalaea. On a quiet cul-de-sac, there is very little traffic. There are lovely tropical grounds with 4 BBQ's, a heated pools, pool side eating area and a beach side shower. Our complex is one of only three in Maalaea that is on the beach. The other seven are on a rocky reef. Two are next to the busy Maalaea Harbor, with its traffic, boat engine noise and fumes. Many have distant parking lots and half have coin $$ operated laundry rooms. Our condo has its own in-unit washer and dryer. Our beach is 4 miles long and runs parallel to a protected wildlife refuge. On a morning walk you may not run into another person. This is the most un-crowded beach on Maui. It's like your own private paradise.
Please read the reviews on the condos you are considering. You don't want to stay in a condo that has had two or three stars, or very few reviews. Reviews are how you will find a good condo.
Surprisingly, some condos don't have air conditioning, including many in our complex. During the warmer months (May through October) Maui gets into the 80’s and 90’s (August & September), the humidity can be at 90%. You really need air conditioning. We installed a NEW AIR CONDITIONER in 2016. Plus there are six ceiling fans, two portable fans and a dehumidifier to remove moister from the air.
Some of our amenities include 3 FLAT SCREEN TVs and 3 DVD/Blu-ray players, free Wi-Fi and a printer, free long distance to the US and Canada, beach gear, swim noodles, boogie boards, beach towels, sand chairs, 6-8 lanai chairs, 2 lanai tables,games, movies and a Safe for valuables. The kitchen has a view of the ocean, newer dishwasher (2016), full size stove, side-by-side fridge (New 2017) with an ice maker and filtered water, microwave, toaster, toaster oven, blender, coffee maker, cookware, utensils, glassware, wine glasses, silverware, dishes, an iron and ironing board, dishtowels and a digital washer and
a (New 2017) digital dryer. You may also find spices, salt, pepper, etc., coffee filters, and more.
FOR CHILDREN WE HAVE: A stroller, 3/4 size Crib, a High-chair, Pack & Play, a Baby Gate, Sand Toys, Movies and Puzzles.
Compare our 1,050 square foot, condo’s views to the other units in our complex. Some are 200 feet from the water. We have a Direct Beach Front, Ground Floor, Corner Condo, so no neighbors on one side, making it more private. Amazing 180-Degree View of Maui's south coast from the front corner master bedroom and Double Sized Lanai (seats 6, not just 4 like all the other condos). Compare the size of our lanai to the one right next door (you can see in the photos .
We have Traditional bedrooms. No Lofts or rooms that open to the living space by a thin folding wall. Many units in our complex have open master bedrooms. Our solid walls offer privacy, and a quiet retreat. There is a $2,600 “Select Comfort” King. Each side adjusts to your desired firmness or softness. 2nd Bedroom has Pillow top Mattresses on Twins. They can be converted to a 2nd King. Both bedrooms have ceiling fans and Cable (flat screen) TV’s. We also have a 3rd twin bed that is a blow-up bed. Living Room has Queen Sleeper Sofa. We have Free Parking just steps from the condo. No hassle with having to go up flights and flights of stairs, or walk to the back of the building to take the elevators.
Most people picture in their minds their “Dream” Vacation condo, right on a sandy beach with spectacular views and magnificent sunrises and sunsets. They could swim in front, or take a walk on miles of pristine, un-crowded beach. My 1,050 sq. ft. Direct Beachfront, Ground Floor, Corner Condo could be what you're dreaming of. With so many to choose from, this is my chance to tell you what I think sets mine apart from the others.
Not many condos are this close to a sandy beach. In summer you can swim or snorkel right in front. In winter, watch the Whales from the lanai, out in Maalaea Bay. When you walk in and see the view of the ocean from the living room, you will be delighted. When you go outside, the spectacular 180-degree views of Maui's entire south coast will take your breath away. Every morning, you can watch the sun come up over Haleakala. It is truly, an indescribable experience.
Our condo only faces the beach, miles of ocean, Maui’s south coast, Haleakala and the island of Lanai. Being on a corner is nothing like an 'interior' unit that shares two common walls. They have only one window in their master, and their second bedroom window opens to the back facing either a busy walkway, allowing strangers to look in or the noisy parking lot. We also have NO NEIGHBORS ON ONE SIDE. It is quieter, more private and has incredible views of the beach from the front corner, master bedroom's wall-to-wall windows. Our second bedroom has views of the ocean, the tropical grounds and the pool.
The master bath has a walk-in, over-sized, tiled shower. It has both a hand held and wall mounted shower head. The other bathroom has a full size tub, sliding doors and a shower above. Both bathrooms have cooling ceiling fans, designer towels, rugs, accessories and wall mounted hair dryers.
The condo is wheelchair accessible unit (but not ADA compliant). The previous owner was in a wheelchair. There is a small ramp at the front door, a super wide door into the master bath, and a roll in shower with a ramp and three grab bars. He was allowed to enlarge the doorways and the master shower. They are wider than normal. He was given permission to enlarge the lanai to accommodate his wheelchair, plus tables and chairs. As such, it's twice the size of the other lanais. Being on a corner, it extends beyond the norm, increasing our views even further. It has two tables and six chairs instead of the normal four. With a larger group, everyone can be together. It is the only lanai that accommodates the large comfy lounges. Also our lanai is level with the grass so you can roll right off of it onto the lawn.
Please compare my condo's rate to the other direct beachfront units. I am very competitive. There are many inexpensive units available in the complex. Some have no air conditioner or only one TV and not many amenities. Some only cater to adults (no children’s items). Or only sleep 4 guests. Please look at their photos carefully. Some are over 200 feet from the beach, at the back of the complex. Except for the direct beach front units (that face the sand), the condos in our ”U” shaped complex face each other. People are across from each other hanging out on the lanai and looking into all the other units. Not much privacy. On some of the ground floor units they have so many plants growing around their lanai and windows, there’s not much of a view. Our condo with its corner, ground floor, direct beach front location has a double lanai with fantastic views all the way from Wailea to the Harbor.
