At The Historic Crags Lodge you'll get a real sense of history combined with the very essence of some of the most spectacular and picturesque panoramas nature has to offer. Ideally located in the heart of Estes Park on the north side of Prospect Mountain, this serene retreat getaway is only 12 miles from the famous Rocky Mountain National Park. The 'Crags' has truly established itself as part of the history of this area, first opening its doors on the fourth of July 1914. This makes The Historic Crags Lodge the third oldest lodge in Estes Park. The founder of the Lodge, Joe Mills, and his brother Enos were largely responsible for establishing the Rocky Mountain National Park.

Authentic, secluded yet close

We really enjoyed our stay at the Historic Crags Lodge. This lodge is an authentic part of the history of Estes Park which can be seen in the original decor and furnishings of the common areas. Located on the hill to the south of town, it is within walking distance (less than a half a mile) from the main part of town yet it feels like a secluded mountain inn. During our stay, although the parking lot was full at night, we never felt crowded. Lodge has a restaurant and bar, restaurant is fancy (did not get to try it) and only open for dinner and bar may close early if it is quiet. Pool is warm enough to swim in evening. Staff was friendly.

The unit is two rooms, the main room having a kitchenette, small table and pull out sofa and the bedroom has a queen size bed. Rooms are on the small side which was expected considering the lodge is over 100 years old but are modern and well kept. Kitchenette is equiped for a modest meal.

The only complaint was the toilet filling was very loud after flushing, loud enough to not want to flush with people sleeping at night.

Nice, charming property; unit very tiny

While the overall property is charming, the unit was way too small for a family of 4. We could barely all stand up in there at the same time. We really enjoyed the restaurant on site and the location is good for visiting downtown Estes Park and the park.

Great room!

We really enjoyed our stay in Room 209 at the Crags Lodge. It was clean and well equipped. It had a full bath and a half bath which was really handy. The only suggestion I would have is to put some type of shelf in the bathrooms above the sinks so that there is someplace for toiletries, curling iron, etc. It was hard to put my makeup on because there wasn't any place to put my makeup bag other than on the toilet.

The ladies that checked us in were super nice. We tried to extend our stay by a day but the lodge was all booked.

Quaint and clean

The suite was very small, but the view from the restaurant was superb. Food was excellent Ann greeted us at the front desk and made our stay very enjoyable.

The onsite pool operates seasonally and is closed between October 15 and May 25.

Due to the severe flooding experienced in Northern Colorado in September 2013, highways acessing Estes Park may be under repair. Please allow for closures and delays. Contact the Lodge for current road conditions and closures.
When Checking In: - Hotel Guests and Exchange Reservation: A photo identification, credit card for $100 security deposit and a daily $5.00 plus tax resort fee* will be required (cash is not an acceptable form of deposit).
Resort Fee includes: WiFi, pool and spa, garden recreational activities, garden gas grills, morning lobby coffee, tea, cocoa, Laundromat, DVD rental and printing of boarding passes, maps, directions.

- Owner Weeks and Member Points Booking: Photo identification and a form of payment will need to be provided at check-in. Resort fees* will be waived when staying on your owner week or member point reservations.
A daily resort fee of $5.00 plus tax will be added to all Club and Owner Rental Reservations.

Manager's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund if canceled at least 14 days before arrival date.
