Great place to relax!
To start with, we all want to adopt Ginger! The house is great, once you stay on the correct road and figure out how to use the lights, fans, and electronics. We really liked that it was up on the hill, out of town. It made the temperature cooler and we loved falling asleep with open windows and the relaxing sounds of nature. Our party was 3 adults in our 40's and our 3 moms. It was a perfect get away, since we had them on the go, exploring the island, every single day. It was nice to start with breakfast at 'home' and come back and make another meal.
Perfect for our Group
The home was perfect for a group of 9 in the area to assist with a sports camp for children in the community. The large kitchen featured a huge fridge that kept all of our food and drinks cool. The Washer and Dryer are top of the line models. The propane grill helped our team chef cook some delicious burgers.
The home was clean and offered a beautiful view. The wildlife (peacock, turkeys, rabbits, pheasant, and the donkey in an adjourning field) added to the unique flavor of the area.
The pool was clean and refreshing after a long day of playing with children in the hot sun.
One of our team members requested an inflatable mattress that was very deflated when we arrived. However, a replacement was quickly given that was smaller but adequate.
The switches for the lights were a little difficult to figure out. Also, there are several remote controls in the home, which took a while to match with the many televisions. Yet, we watched little television.
The view was beautiful, but please be aware the ocean is a long distance away.
The caretaker on site was very attentive and friendly.
We would certainly stay here again if we have the same size group.
Great views - interesting space for a large family
We stayed here 4 nights with a group of 10 (6 adults and 4 children under 4 yrs). The location is up the hill a ways from Kailua-Kona area, but an easy drive, at least to the road the house is on. The last bit is a little tricky.
The house is spacious and open, although the amount of electronics, switches and remotes is a little overwhelming. The bedrooms are well spaced and a good size and accommodated our group easily. The lanai is HUGE with a great sunset facing view as advertised (although we always missed the sunset by being out later) and the pool was great.
The owner's mother lives in the next door apartment and is welcoming and helpful without being intrusive.
Be sure to say hello to the rabbits, donkey, peacock and chickens on the property and neighboring properties.
Loved the area, nice and cool in the evenings, easy to get to the heart of the town for beaches, dining, entertainment, and shopping. House clean, yard beautiful and well maintained, private environment to get away from the crowds. pool was perfect at night to relax in.
Great place to host a group!
We loved the house & backyard...looks just like the pictures. We stayed with our teammates for the OC race and enjoyed every minute of it! I highly recommend this house, especially for larger groups wanting a beautiful place to stay inexpensively. It's less than 6 miles from both downtown Kona and the airport...you can't beat the location. Can't wait to go back again!
What a perfect spot! We have 2 kids (2 and 4) and this house was the absolute perfect place to stay. Plenty of room for the kids to run, a nice warm pool to swim in, up and away from the heat, the house is big and loaded with everything you need (including comfortable beds and a jacuzzi tub!) and beautiful sunset views! Ginger, the on site manager, is the best and was so accommodating to our late arrival and helped with anything we might have needed. I would highly recommend this place for anyone who wants to be in a lovely secluded place above the heat of downtown, but close enough to not feel like you're out in the sticks (I think we were about 10-15 minutes to downtown). If you have kids, this house is a must, they can play outside safely in the large completely fenced in yard. We wish we could have stayed forever! We can't wait to go back!
