Welcome to Kihei Garden Estates (KGE) and your new “home away from home”! This is a beautifully maintained property with attractively manicured grounds, and a very quiet resort complex, which will allow for a great vacation and peace of mind and body.

This low-rise development is favored by those who enjoy the ease of moving about the property, from parking, to condo, to pool, to beach. Our home offers a garden view from a spacious lanai. KGE boasts a family-friendly gathering area, seating for up to 25 people for your Bar-B-Q feast under the covered pavilion. Enjoy this full outdoor kitchen with two common gas grills, large swimming pool and over-sized hot-tub/Jacuzzi.

Kihei has the most sought-after resort addresses on Maui because of its location, weather and affordability. This is a place where you can relax in a family-friendly location, with the added convenience of shopping centers, bars and restaurants, and activities, all within walking distance. Kihei boasts many beautiful beaches, shopping, and golf. Times Supermarket is only steps away, for your groceries and necessities.

The condo complex is just a short 2 minute walk to Waiohuli Beach, where you can see the most magnificent sunsets imaginable, and the occasional whale or turtle-sighting. Our beach is great for running, walking, strolling, kayaking, paddle-boarding, watching sunsets, catching some rays, and whatever else you may have in mind.

Our ground-floor home, on the west side of the complex, has been completely renovated with new paint, furniture, décor, hardwood floors, granite counter-tops, and a beautiful travertine walk-in shower. Our one-bedroom, one-bath unit is spotlessly clean and decorated in island-style, painted in neutral colors; and is perfect for your relaxing, restful and comfortable vacation.

Our kitchen is outfitted with all-new Samsung stainless steel appliances in 2015 – a French-door fridge with drawer freezer and ice bucket; convection oven with Ceran five-burner cook-top and digital controls; over-range microwave; a full-size dishwasher and a garbage disposal. Also included is a Nespresso Citiz Espresso Machine and capsules provided for your first seven days (instructions on how to reorder for yourself are provided); a Mr. Coffee coffee-maker with basket filters; a Kitchen Aid mini food-processor; a George Foreman Lean Mean Fat Grilling Machine; a Ninja Ultima Blender; a 4-qt. crockpot, a toaster, and a wine rack, complete with a complimentary bottle of wine. We provide all dishware, cookware, glassware, bakeware, utensils and cutlery. The dual ceiling fans in the kitchen help to keep you cool while you create your tropical feasts and cocktails; and the windows at either ends of the condo will allow the gentle trade winds to cool you after the warm afternoons.

Our bedroom was recently redecorated in January 2017, with a comfortable Cali-King bed, new low-style dresser, night stands and lamps. In early 2018, we plan to replace the existing Jalousie bedroom window. At the same time we'll be installing an air conditioner in the bedroom, making it more comfortable for sleep after your day adventuring on Maui.

We’re up to date on technology, too – our home is equipped with a 42” LED TV; cable television; Blu-Ray DVD; Bose iPod/iPhone Sound-Dock; free, secure WIFI and a wireless laser-printer.

We also include, for your use while vacationing here, a beach bag, beach towels, cooler, backpack-style beach chairs, boogie-board, and beach mats.

Maui Trade Winds

In Maui, the northeast trade winds, averaging 12 mph, occur about 90% of the time in the summer and about 50% of the time in the winter. They keep humidity at a minimum and ensure moderate temperatures, especially on the windward side, unlike other tropical islands closer to the equator.

Maui’s south and west coasts provide almost year-round sunshine, dry weather and fantastic beaches along the resort areas of Makena, Wailea, Kihei, Lahaina, Ka’anapali and Kapalua.

Aloha! We're Rick and Chantal. We bought our Kihei home in August 2009, when we decided that we had finally found our “place in the sun” that we’d been searching for. Kihei was the perfect fit, with its small-town feel, yet with all the essential and wanted amenities that it has to offer, and being on the “dry side” of the island guaranteed us more sun than rain. We love how relaxed we immediately become when we step off the plane on Maui. It’s a real joy to be able to share the place we love so much with guests who may return year after year. We look forward to welcoming you.

Why Chantal McIlveen chose South Maui

Kihei Garden Estates has the resort feel to it, that we love to spend time at. There are 84 units in this complex, so it's not huge; but it affords plenty of owners and visitors staying here at any given time, so you can make as many, or as few, friends as you like. And there's always someone walking by to bid you a 'good morning' or 'ev'ning'. Many people walk down to the beach each evening, with their drink of choice, to enjoy the 'sunset ritual'.

What makes this condo unique

Our home was definitely a 'work in progress' when we purchased it, and that was to our benefit - we could fix it up as we wanted. We got to work almost immediately, replacing the worn-out carpet with new hardwood floor. From there, we did a little work each time we came back, with the brunt of the bathroom and kitchen renovations being done in early 2015. We now have our beautiful, comfortable home in Kihei.

  • Our newly renovated and remodeled bathroom has a walk-in shower with fixed-head shower, hand-held shower and a bonus foot-wash. There’s a medicine cabinet, a new dual-flush toilet, new vanity with built-in sink, new lights, hair dryer, makeup mirror and bathroom scale.

  • Our bedroom has a very comfortable Cali-King bed (new in 2017) with memory-foam pillow-top mattress, 25” LCD TV and DVD, alarm clock, glass-top six-drawer dresser, night stands, and linens and towels. There’s also room in the bedroom closet to store a couple suitcases, if you wish. The mirrored closet contains a clothes hamper, laundry basket and clothes rack/dryer. The louvered “Jalousie” windows have a rattan privacy blind and full-length, tie-back curtains, and they provide a nice cross-breeze through the unit. The quiet ceiling fan also provides cooling and air-movement.

Beautiful unit and laid back location!

The unit is pristine. Everything was newly remodeled and very clean. The location is nice, not filled with tourists and you are just a couple minute walk away from the grocery store, some great restaurants, and the beach. Could not recommend more! Also, the bed is like sleeping on a cloud!

Annual Vacation

We stayed in this condo for a week. The check-in process was great.

We were welcomed by a bottle of vine and a sweet treat.

Chantal was responding immediately when I needed to access the internet and the modem was not working. The condo is exactly as described: cute, tastefully decorated, and lovely for 2 people. The bed was comfy and the kitchen had everything included to make our stay comfortable. We have used vrbo for almost all of our trips the last few years and this place was one of the best ones. Also, the outside porch area provided a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the evenings after returning from the beach to observe the sunsets. The beach is in walking distance which was very nice.

Quiet, well-equipped, great location!

We stayed 14 nights, and this was our first visit to Maui. This complex is just a block away from a lovely stretch of beach where we relaxed almost every morning (reading and watching the waves) and evening (beautiful sunsets!). This beach is not over-populated and an easy walk to a nicely shaded area.

Record "King-tides" made Maui's (and all the Islands) waters a lot more rough than we are accustomed to (having visited the Big Island for the past 9 years) so we spent a lot of time at the pool. The grounds are very well maintained, and the employees (identified them because they're wearing Kihei Garden Estates shirts) worked tirelessly to keep the pool and the grounds super-clean. The BBQs were always clean and 'ready to go' and we had absolutely no problems at all during our stay.

Everything (restaurants, grocery, beaches) here in Kihei is easy to get to.

Thanks to Chantal who left a bottle of champagne and chocolate for us upon our arrival, as this trip was to celebrate my retirement after 30 years. :-)

Our ONLY comment/suggestion for improvement echoes what others have already said... that the air conditioning unit in the living room does not / simply cannot adequately cool the bedroom when it's warm out. After the third night of our stay, I discovered a large fan in the hall closet (duh!) and it helped cool the overly warm (for us) bedroom greatly.

Chantal was a great communicator, and very gracious to respond almost immediately when I had a question (I somehow overlooked the wireless password info in the book, and emailed her to ask her how to connect... she responded immediately - much appreciated!)

Very nice and clean property close to the beach

Would highly recommend this unit to anyone. It is centrally located so you walk to coffee or dinner or gelato. Grocery store around the corner. Less than a 5 minute walk to the beach.

Beautiful lawns and pool/BBQ area. Quiet area with very little noises from outside and it has AC! Loved everything about it!

Great Honeymoon destination

Chantal & Rick's beautiful condo was a perfect destination for our honeymoon! It was my first time and my wifes second time on Maui, the condo is perfectly located in Kihei. Walking distance to the beach with plenty of fantastic restaurants within walking distance! The lanai is a perfect spot to begin your day in paradise with coffee supplied by the owners! Kihei Garden Estates is well maintained and a perfect destination for those looking for a relaxing peaceful getaway!

The thoughtful touches throughout the condo really make you feel at home, without the hectic day-to-day chaos. From the books on Maui, to the activity and dining binder, it really allowed us to relax without stressing about what to do next! A must stop is the Maui Brewing Co at the top of Lipoa!
