Relaxing perfect getaway
We brought our boat and loved the convenience of having the use of the dock. Also the kayaks were a nice perk as the river is ideal for a leisure paddle. The cottage's kitchen was well stocked which was a nice surprise. Five minutes from downtown South Haven and five minutes from Meijer's.
The owners were great to work with. They let me see the house before committing to the rental as we were going to be staying for 5 weeks and I was concerned about the size if the place. We wanted to be on the river, close to town and the KalHaven trail, and we required a place that allows dogs. This place fit the bill. The place feels much larger than the size indicates. Nice touches included kayaks, movable fire pit, large living room and ample parking. We would definitely want to stay here again.
We'll be back!
We had a great time at this lovely cottage over Columbus Day weekend. What made it even more special was that we were able to bring our dog, Annie, and weren't over charged a pet fee and deposit (hard to find). I also liked that when I went to pay for the cottage, we weren't charged hidden fees, such as cleaning and booking fees. We paid an additional $50 for our dog which is absolutely reasonable and fair. Communication with Brendan was quick and laid back.
The cottage was lovely, right on the river and was much larger than it appears - it was also extremely clean! We slept in the room that overlooked the river and had our morning coffee on the deck. We also loved that there was a fireplace, which got some use since the evening's were chilly. It was a bit cold for the kayaks but we really appreciated that they were there in the event we wanted to take them out. It might be a bit far for some (about 1 mile), but we did walk into town a few times and Meier is very close too. We'll be back for sure!
Great rental on river
Would definitely recommend this rental. A very comfortable roomy cottage .We were impressed with the cleanliness and the extra touches. It is also stocked with essentials which was appreciated. It is on a quiet cul de sac. The only traffic you will see are boats as they idle past. The owners are great to deal with. The cottage is an easy walk to town. We took bikes and enjoyed the nearby bike trail too. It was great having kayaks we could use.
When searching for a vacation spot within five hours of home that would permit our beloved pup, I was thrilled to find this lovely little cottage! I was even more thrilled when we arrived in South Haven. The cottage is absolutely adorable. The location is fantastic! The locals and fellow vacationers are super friendly. And, dining at Salt of the Earth is an experience. We brought our boats, bikes and hiking boots and had a blast! There is so much to do in South Haven, we are considering a two week stay next year!
Beautiful cottage, quiet setting
My husband and I (and our dog) loved this comfortable homey cottage during a week in June. Location is quiet and secluded yet just a five minute bike ride to downtown South Haven or the beach and just steps away from the KalHaven Trail. The river view from the large deck is great and we really enjoyed watching the boats and paddle boarders. Very friendly neighbors! Kayaks and all the gear were provided which was very cool. We can't wait to return!
This cottage is located within walking distance to downtown South Haven and Lake Michigan. Plenty of shopping and site seeing.
