Guestbook comments from the manager

Four of us shared the house this week for the Meadowlark Festival. I had done this before but the other 2 from Guelph, Ontario had seen Osoyoos and Kelowna but not the wonderful stuff inbetween. Beautiful – and a very comfortable home.

High view house

  • 4 of 5

Our family of 7 stayed for 9 days. We had 2 dogs and the house was pet friendly so that was a big plus for us. The house is very roomy and well equipped. We had opportunity to play some of the games that were provided. The view is spectacular and we ere all very comfortable. The air conditioning is also a plus although one day was quite cool outside and we could not stop the air conditioning so we were wearing warm clothing in the house that day. However the rest of the time we were very thankful for the coolness. Upon arrival we thought the road to the house was quite daunting but we quickly became used to it. We would book this house again

Perfect House for Everyone!

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from a lovely stay at this Naramata property. As we left the paved Naramata Road and entered a dirt track road, Languedoc, I was a little bit worried about what we might find - however, once we turned the corner and headed towards the lake and orchard, we saw the house - it was perfect! The house is huge, three levels and very spacious. Kitchen is ideal for entertaining and leads to open deck with stunning views of the lake. We had every meal on the deck and just couldn't get enough of the scenery. The house has geothermal air conditioning which was perfect as temperatures this August were 35o!! Bring a pair of slippers though, we found the upstairs to be a little too chilly on some evenings and you can't adjust the thermostat. Bedrooms were all great size and the master bedroom with the spectacular views and balcony was first class. The walk into Naramata is half hour down hill - little longer on the uphill return, but great exercise and nice quiet roads through orchards and vineyards. Best beach is Manitou - so quiet, even on a Saturday/Sunday and great swimming, grass area for games/activities etc. Cycling is excellent - we drove the bikes to Smethurst Road (5 mins away but very steep uphill) and joined the Kettle Valley Railway trail. The property manager Skyler, was super to deal with and she responded to any emails/texts within a few hours. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting an escape from busy life to completely unwind and relax.

Wonderful place, questionnable management

  • 3 of 5

We stayed at the Highview house twice: once in the early September of 2012 and once in the second half of July 2014. Both times with the extended family. The house is located at the north end of the Naramata village, away from traffic. On the dirt road leading to the house you can often encounter deer. The vast grounds surrounding the house give it a very private feel. The patio overlooks a beautiful ravine with unparalleled views of the lake as the backdrop. The house is very well equipped, clean and comfortable. Having been to this place twice we would have gladly rented it again and again.

Unfortunately, when we inquired about the availability for 2015, the manager told us that we are no longer welcome to the Highview house. The reasons were stated as: late departure (we did depart later than stated, but never interfered with the cleaning crew -- we were outside loading the car as they worked inside the house), broken screen (which was already broken when we arrived), and improper placement of garbage (which we did not quite understand, because we neatly placed all the garbage into appropriate containers). We were not happy that our wonderful vacation in Naramata came to such an unexpected end. While we understand that the cleaning crew operates on a tight schedule and prefers a prompt departure, we would have appreciated a warning for a timely departure next time as opposed to an abrupt ban. A damage deposit could have resolved an issue with any damages and better communication would have educated us about the proper "garbage etiquette".

In summary: this is a wonderful place, but beware of picky management.

Owner's Response: We only ask that our guests start the dishwasher and put all garbage out in the containers before they leave. After this group left these things were not done. There would be food in the fridge, garbage throughout the house and one couple still in bed sleeping when the cleaning crew arrived. This happened two years in a row...guests still in bed sleeping at 11:00am and seemingly in no hurry to leave. Our check out time is 10:30 am. These are the reasons that we decided not to take this group for a 3rd season. House was too messy when they left and they wouldn't leave on time.

Girls Get a way

  • 4 of 5

The house was great, there were enough beds for all of us, the kitchen was well equipped, and there were enough towels and bedding for everyone. The table accommodated us all for dinner and there was WI-fi and were were able to watch a movie one night. There was also lots for games for our use. The house was clean and there was a book of information about the home and the area which we were able to use. The surrounding area has more wineries than you can hope to attend in one day. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this home for our family and friends.
