Welcome to Sunset Tides! This Lowcountry home was featured on an episode of HGTV's Beachfront Bargain Hunt (Season 10, Episode 13-A Future on Fripp Island, SC). The 1633 sq. ft., 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom Charleston-style row house sleeps up to eight guests. Sunset Tides is the perfect place for visitors looking to spend their days at the beach, biking around the island, and exploring the local charm of the area. Amenity Cards are not available with this property. While the waterfront property does not have pool access, the beach is less than a 5 minute bike or golf cart ride*. Hunting Island State Park, Historic Beaufort, The Shrimp Shack, Johnson’s Tavern, the Foolish Frog, and numerous roadside stands, are just a few of the local attractions and restaurants within short distance of the island home. Book a round of golf at one of several courses in the Beaufort area.

Enjoy the beautiful beaches of Fripp Island and everything that the lowcountry has to offer!

*There are bikes for you to use while on Fripp. Golf carts are available for you to rent from local vendors such as Carolina Custom Golf Carts (843-322-3230) and Sutcliffe Golf Carts (843-524-6502). We suggest you reserve your golf cart early as they typically rent out quickly.

About Todd Stewart

Kristy and I met in the Lowcountry of South Carolina and married on Hilton Head Island. I am from Morgantown, WV and attended WVU for athletic training while Kristy grew up in Beatrice, NE and attended the University of Nebraska Kearney for travel and tourism. Bluffton, SC is now home which is only one hour from Fripp Island. I am a teacher and athletic trainer at a local high school and Kristy is a communications director at a country club on Hilton Head Island.

Todd Stewart purchased this house in 2014

Why Todd Stewart chose Fripp Island

Kristy and I fell in love with Fripp Island during our first visit on a short vacation trip in October 2014. We began searching for a home during this same vacation and purchased the home before the end of the year. This home has panoramic creek and marsh views and is a short walk or golf cart ride to the beach. We love being able to take walks on the beach in the morning and watch sunsets from our private balcony in the evening. This home offers the best of the Lowcountry-natural beauty, relaxation, charm, and fun. It is the perfect place to enjoy with family and friends.

What makes this house unique

Fripp Island and the area offer a variety of outdoor activities and beautiful, natural scenery. The miles of wide, sandy beaches are perfect for sunbathing and enjoying a cold beverage, splashing in the waves, and playing bocci or catch. The character of the area is a perfect representation of casual Lowcountry living. It is also always exciting to see dolphins swimming in the creek just beyond the home's back yard. One of our favorite memories was watching the Fripp Island Holiday Boat Parade from our new home's balcony. No matter the time of year, this home is a great place for vacation memories.

Cozy...felt like home

  • 5 of 5

We loved the townhouse, marsh, dolphins and deer that we could see off the back deck. Would definitely recommend this vacation rental and island. So serene and relaxing. Rooms were great size and each had its own bath. Tons of room to relax and enjoy the space and family/friends. Time well spent. Will definitely return!

Beautiful place, our kids couldn't play in back yard, grass was really high

  • 3 of 5

Beautiful place to stay. Inside was wonderful. But no water pressure and the AC was locked we're you couldn't cool the house down. The grass in the back yard was so high our kids couldn't play. The table in the back yard was completely covered (hide) in the grass because it was so high. If these issue are correctly we would stay there again. Thank you

Owner's Response: We strive to provide the best and most enjoyable experience for our guests. We hope that all guests leave more than satisfied with their stay and eager to return to this beautiful island. In order to accomplish this, the property is personally inspected prior to each guest’s arrival. We provide all guests with our contact information if issues arise during their stay and respond to concerns in a timely manner. We enjoy reading reviews from our guests as it helps us understand what guests like about the property. We also welcome any recommendations that renters share because it helps us make improvements where needed. We think it is important to respond to the specific matters in this review. 1. This is the first instance a renter has mentioned water pressure being an issue. We have had guests stay up to 3 months and not call this to our attention. The renters in weeks leading up to and following this week in review did not express any concerns. However, we will to look into it and address any problems that are present. 2. We want guests to be comfortable during their stay. The thermostat allows guests to set the AC as low as 72 degrees. Our HVAC technician strongly recommends the AC not be set any lower than 72 degrees due to the risk of freezing up the system and losing AC to the home. The system is also on a regularly scheduled inspection and maintenance plan as recommended by heating and AC professionals. The inability to comfortably cool the property has not been mentioned as a concern by any other guests. 3. The lawn conditions are maintained every 1-2 weeks. Our toddler has a wonderful time playing in the yard each week we are on site prior to guest arrival. Many families with children sent praises saying the house is very family friendly. We can assure guests that the grass has never been allowed to grow to completely cover the backyard furniture. There is beautiful, tall marsh grass that comes up to our property creating spectacular views. 4. We encourage guests to bring concerns to our attention during their stay so that we can discuss any issues and resolve any problems that may arise quickly. We look forward to welcoming many more families and guests to our home and hope they will enjoy Fripp Island as much as we do.

Beautiful Island

  • 5 of 5

My family and I loved our stay at your house on Fripp Island. It was our first time and we decided we wanted to stay at a new place and we are VERY glad we did! We loved riding bikes, using the golf cart, and easy access to the beach. We saw so many deer and loved to sit on the back porch at night and watch the sunset! Would definitely recommend if you love wildlife and a nice community!

Ideal place to find your Zen factor!

  • 5 of 5

The house offers spectacular views of an amazingly tranquil space. The house was clean and offered most all the comforts of home. The kitchen was well-equipped. The golf cart is a must have for exploring all Fripp has to offer. The bicycle trails are also great! I have never seen so many deer, apt to approach as you travel the island. I could not have asked for a better weekend getaway! We hope to come back in the future. Our first trip to Fripp Island was memorable and very pleasant, especially those evening sunsets. Thank you!
