This location is only 3 miles from downtown Gatlinburg and 8 miles from Pigeon Forge. You can be in either location within 10-15 minutes or less.

The roads leading to Smoky's Cabin Fever are paved all the way and are accessible year round.

The setting is semi private. There is an abundance of trees and wildlife nearby. And while there is no direct mountain view from the cabin itself, a stroll through the community offers spectacular views of the National Park, Mt. Leconte and the city lights of Gatlinburg and Ski Mountain.

FIRST FLOOR:

Enter into the great room featuring vaulted ceilings, a beautiful stone gas fireplace. Here you will also find the fully equipped kitchen and dining area. All three of these rooms will bring your family together for meals, games or watching your favorite movie or sports team play on the 60' HDTV. There are covered porches on the front and back o the cabin with an abundance of seating. The back porch is screened in and has a four person hot tub. The lower level bedroom has a beautiful log, king sized bed, log furnishings and plenty of closet and storage room (a rarity in most cabins). The downstairs bath has a jetted full sized tub and is freshly updated with new tile, vanity and toilet.

SECOND FLOOR

Venture upstairs to find a game loft with pool table plus a sleeper futon. The master bedroom is up here and has a king sized log bed plus a large, romantic two person whirlpool tub.

Outside you will find a picnic area with park style charcoal grill and a fire pit to gather around and tell campfire stories and cook up some Smore's.

There is plenty to do at the cabin but should you get "cabin fever" and decide you want to venture out you are only minutes from downtown Gatlinburg and the entrance of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Your also only a short 8 mile drive from Pigeon Forge and Dollywood.

Smoky's Cabin Fever is the perfect place for a romantic getaway for the two of you, a cozy couples cabin or a great family cabin.

About Randall Crum

I am a native of East Tennessee and grew up coming to Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park all of my life. I spent my high school and college years working in downtown Gatlinburg. I love the area for its beauty and variety of things to see and do.

I have had the good fortune of traveling the world and have seen a lot of beautiful places but in my mind the Great Smoky Mountains are right up there at the top of my list.

Randall Crum purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Randall Crum chose East

Smoky's Cabin Fever will appeal to smaller families and couples looking for an affordable yet well appointed accommodations. The setting is private but still only minutes from all of the excitement the area has to offer. if you like nature you will like staying at Smoky's Cabin Fever.

What makes this cabin unique

Smoky's Cabin Fever sits at an elevation of a little over 2000 ft. It seems to always be 4-5 degrees cooler up there than in downtown Gatlinburg. At night you can walk out, look up and see a full sky of stars. There could be a light dusting of snow at the cabin and no snow at all in downtown.

Great rental! Owner is very professional and helpful!

  • 4 of 5

We had a few issues with the cleanliness when we first arrived. The property is not new and definitely pet friendly but comfortable and good for our family! The owner was gracious and Great to work with. We would definitely stay here again or in any of their properties.

Owner's Response: Dear Stacy, Thank you very much for staying at Smoky's Cabin Fever. I am glad you enjoyed the cabin. I am sorry that you encountered the housekeeping issue. I found out that the regular cleaner had someone working for them that day. I have asked her not to use that person going forward. I hope that you will stay with us again sometime. Sincerely, Randall

cabin was great - no view -and a few minor problems but was clean and comfortable

  • 3 of 5

we knew the cabin didn't have a view but just a short walk and you can see the mountains- cabin was clean and comfortable but we did have some problems-took forever to get TV to work and never could get Netflix - one TV only got one channel - Too many remotes and not enough instructions on which ones to use - no written channel guide-batteries were dead in one remote-couple of outlets didn't work upstairs - and the pool table -can only play on 2 sides as the put a futon in that room and shoved pool table over against railing and also need some new cue sticks or tips !! we had a great time so these things didn't keep us from fun. Grocery store close by as is tram for going downtown . Arts and Craft Village close too - would stay again if certain things were fixed !!!!

Decent accommodations

  • 3 of 5

The home is relatively clean. There were a lot of dead bugs in the bedrooms that we needed to vacuum. We were also shorted on toilet paper and paper towels but the cleaning person did bring us some the next day. The cabin is nice but could use some TLC the furniture in the living area is tattered and has some major wear/holes. The beds were comfortable but the pillows are totally flat. The hot tub runs constantly and it's fairly loud and the cover is in poor shape we used it only once but it seemed clean. This house could benefit from a good cleaning and exterior maintenance. The home has very few screens on the windows so we found we had to put on the air conditioner to limit how many bugs came in the house. This was a shame because it was beautiful weather during our visit. This Wasn't much of a concern for me but the driveway was quite steep but on the positive side it has a large parking area and turn around. Also the house is a couple miles off the main road so be prepared for a narrow winding steep mountain road coming to the cabin. I know that's a concern for many people.

It was very quiet up at the cabin which was appreciated. There are a lot of other cabins close by. The home has a nice large porch with a comfortable swing. The owner was very accommodating with allowing dogs and while there isn't much of a grass area my dog enjoyed sniffing around the property.

Owner's Response: Dear Mike, Thank you for staying with us. The cleaner who prepared the cabin for your stay was not our regular one and we won't be using him in the future. You are correct that the furniture is not new but I was not aware that it was in as bad a shape as you indicate. The driveway is steep and the road leading there is a typical Tennessee mountain road. They tend to wind, twist and get steep in places. For folks coming to the area, please keep in mind that this is the mountains and you will be driving on mountainous roads a lot of the time. Again, thank you for staying with us.

We've had better!

  • 3 of 5

The property owner is very responsive. The instructions to check in/out, and the helpful info about the area provided by email was great!

There is absolutely no view from anywhere in the cabin. The upstairs bed is very firm, and bring your own pillows, (they're extra flat). The kitchen supplies are a hit or miss. Some are decent, most are not. The Netflix never worked, don't count on that working. The internet had to be reset EVERYTIME we left the cabin and sometimes just because, even if we didn't leave. The overall cleanliness was poor. Dust, cobwebs, and random surprises left by previous renters galore. Including, leftover candy, a comb, dead stink bugs, crumbs, and pet hair in the couch. We found a flip flop under one of the beds and laundered the bedding prior to using it. We laundered the towels in the bathroom prior to using them too (they were obviously dirty). Bring your own blankets too. Especially if you are planning to use the sofa bed and/or the futon. The washer and dryer only work for MINIATURE loads, sometimes.

The cabin itself was nice, but needs a thorough cleaning. The price and location (sans a view of the mountains) are ideal!

Owner's Response: Dear Katie, Thank you for staying at Cabin Fever. I am sorry that the cleanliness was not up to our normal level during your visit. I was using a new cleaner while my normal one was on vacation. I will know not to do that again. Thank you for letting me know of these issues. For any future guest reading this, please do know that this cabin DOES NOT have a mountain view. The price reflects this. If I have advertised this, please know that it does not. The drive up the cabin has beautiful mountain views and if you like to walk you can get out and see some beautiful vistas but the only place in the cabin that you may get a hint of a view is from the master bedroom window and that is obstructed by some pine trees. Again, thank you for staying with us and I hope that you will give us another opportunity to serve you in the fuure. Sincerely, Randall

Nice Clean Cabin, Conveniently Located

  • 4 of 5

We had a short stay in March 2017 in this cabin. Here are a few highlights:

Location: The location is very convenient to all area attractions. Just a few miles from downtown Gatinburg, about a 15 minute drive to the Smokey Mountain Park and about a 20 minute drive to Pigeon Forge and Dollywood. We also drove the Arts and Crafts 8 mile route which starts about 5 minutes from the cabin.

Cabin Amenities: The cabin has all of the expected features of a Gatlinburg cabin. A 2 story cabin with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. It also includes a washer and dryer. There is a loft area with pool table. There also is a back deck with a hot tub. The kitchen included a Kureg machine and dish washer. What we really liked is the fire pit which is located just out the front door. The cabin was decorated nicely.

View: The only main issue with this cabin is, there is no view! There is a 6 foot privacy fence about 20 feet in front of the cabin which extends the whole length of the yard. You can walk around the fence and walk around and see the mountains, but you cannot see the mountains from any window or when sitting on the front porch. The reason the fence is there is due to a street and other cabins that got the better location facing the mountains.

Suggestions: If you are driving there, bring toilet paper. There was supposed to be 1 full roll in addition to the one on the holder, but we did not see the extra rolls. (Not a problem for us as we did not run out in the 2 days that we stayed.). If you are a coffee drinker, bring Kureg coffee for the machine. We did not use the washer, but you might need detergent. The Tv's worked well, but one of the controller batteries was out and we could not get the Netflix account to work as stated in the instructions. The Wifi worked well. We did have to reset the modem as instructed when we first arrived. The hot tub was pretty loud and continually ran throughout the night to keep it warm. We did use it one night, but I might have turned it off if we were staying longer.

Overall Thoughts: We had only 3 of us in this cabin and we only stayed 2 nights. We really liked the cabin. It was clean and located conveniently. The view was not a deal breaker for us as we were out visiting the sights over our short stay and got back to the cabin later in the evening. This is the 3rd place we stayed in the last 3 years and it compared fairly to the other cabin and condo that we stayed in. Only 4 stars due lack of view..

Owner's Response: Dear Kristie, Thank you very much for your thorough review. I appreciate your comments and others will as well. You are correct, this cabin does not have a mountain view. I don't think I advertise that it does anywhere in my listing but I will double check that and remove it if I do. As you state the fence is there to give this cabin privacy from the ones from across the way. I once thought about removing it but figured after staying there for a few days at a time I figured the privacy would be appreciated over a partially obstructed mountain view. I have spoken with the cleaner about the supplies and have instructed her to be consistent on the amenities she is to supply. Again, thank you for staying at Smoky's Cabin Fever. I hope that you will stay with us again sometime. Sincerely, Randall

Located in Gatlinburg Tennessee, the gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park you can find an endless amount of activities to stay busy. From whitewater rafting the Little Pigeon River to horseback riding at Cades Cove to golfing at Bent Creek or the Gatlinburg Country Club you won't leave the area feeling that you didn't have enough to do. And if these things weren't your cup of tea there are an abundance of hiking trails, shopping outlets, amusement centers, Dollywood and Ripley's Aquarium to see. And if you want a more leisurely activity I highly recommend a drive through the National Park and a visit to Cades Cove.
