About The Owner

This was our primary house up until 2014 when we decided to move closer to Augusta to raise our growing family. We always enjoyed living at the lake and would love to share that opportunity with our guests. We have lived in the Augusta area since 2007 and would be more than happy to answer any questions you have about the house or the area.

The Owner purchased this house in 2007

Why The Owner chose Lake Thurmond (Strom Thurmond)

We purchased this property after falling in love with the surrounding forest and the shoreline of the lake. The sunsets overlooking the lake are out of this world.

What makes this house unique

This home offers a unique combination of escaping from everyday life, yet still being a short drive to the nearest grocery store.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Spacious rental on the lake :)

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful time staying at this beautifully decorated and spacious home. The yard was huge, and had plenty of room for my kids, (3 and 2) and our bulldogs to run around and play. My kids had a ball playing on the playset, and roasting marshmallows on the fire pit. When we where not having fun at the house we where down at the water picking up shells, swimming, and enjoying all the nature on the lake, and around the home. We even had a green tree frog, that came to visit us on the back patio from time to time. The owners even had yard games for us and the kids to enjoy in the spacious yard. The house had everything you needed for your stay and more! They even provided floats so we could float around the shaded dock on the water. We used the grill on the back deck every night, so we didnt have to leave the whole stay. Props to the owners for providing us with a amazing vacation that we will never forget, and answering our questions immediately during our stay. We will definitely stay here again!

Best of Both Worlds for Masters Week

  • 5 of 5

This was a great choice for our group of four, in town to attend the Masters golf tournament. Augusta accommodations were sky high and staying in Columbia meant a long daily commute. This lake retreat was a perfect solution, offering a relatively short drive that avoided most traffic, and a comfortable setting to unwind and relax after a long day at Augusta National. The house is spacious, well-furnished, and immaculate, with a huge backyard (complete with charcoal grill and fire pit!) and short stroll down to the lake. TV reception was a little hit or miss and the lake level was surprisingly low (must have been a dry winter) but the overall accommodations were perfect for our needs and the homeowner could not have been more responsive or accommodating. With the proximity to Augusta and the pastoral lake setting, it was truly the best of both worlds! A great find and an affordable option to consider if you are looking for comfortable and convenient Masters lodging.

Great location for outdoors enthusiasts

This home sits on a nice large piece of land and provides a quiet place to slow down and relax. The homeowner was very nice and easy to work with. I would stay here again without question.

Hurricane Matthew Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We were in need of evacuating form Charleston due to inclement weather. We had a large group with pets and this place was perfect. The location was ideal for us getting in and out of the Lowcountry. The home was clean, up to date, and spacious enough for an extended stay with 6 adults, 3 kids & 2 dogs. We had plenty of room to run and play outside and the short walk to the lake was a nice break from potential cabin fever.

We had everything we needed to be comfortable in regards to linens, bath towels, etc. The only downside, which we managed to overcome, is the inability to watch football via the TV set up. This was not a deal breaker but access to cable would make college gamedays a bit more convenient.

We managed to make the short trip to nearby McCormick for groceries and a night out to celebrate a birthday at the local Mexican restaurant.

Owners were very accommodating and a pleasure to work with during our time of need and their flexibility gave us one less thing to worry about while are homes were under siege from the storm.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your wonderful review Chad! We are happy that our lake house provided your group with a safe and fun refuge from the hurricane. We hope that things have normalized for you all and that the hurricane did not cause too much havoc once you returned home. Again, we appreciate the review! Sincerely, Kathryn & Tom

Great house for family gathering

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a great gathering at the lake house. We had lots of room for our family of all ages. The kids loved the big yard and play set. The location was good and we enjoyed the walk to the lake through the woods. Nice covered boat dock. Very quiet area in good cove.

There was plenty of room for parking and our motorhome. We look forward to our next trip.

Great, quiet lake get away!

  • 5 of 5

This home-away-from-home was a great choice for a wonderful weekend with old friends. The bedrooms were large and clean, with enough space to accommodate everyone comfortably. The kitchen had a large (really, extra large) table that allowed everyone to enjoy meals together without feeling overcrowded or having to take turns sitting down. The two separate and large bathrooms was a plus for a group of 9. The highlight, of course, was the lake. The location was perfect - snuggled in a quiet cove with very little weeds or lake debris with rarely another boat insight. While there is quite a lot to do in the area, once we saw the lake, there was no need to leave. Grab your bathing suit and enjoy this relaxing lake respite.
